The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

The fairways were very good as were the bunkers.

The problem is the greens two holes were closed due to problems with the greens.

The greens on the open 16 holes all had issues of bare spots. Also super slow green speeds.

Fix the greens an I would recommend this course.

I’ve played on some pretty bad courses and then there was this. Now I know it’s been raining almost everyday but there’s no excuse as to why this course should be in the shape it is currently in. I payed to play 18 holes but only got through 7 of them and 2 of those seven holes didn’t even have greens to play. One hole had the flag stick just stuck in the middle of the fairway and they considered that the hole I'm guessing. The other 5 greens were just in bad shape. They’ve obviously lost the greens due to whatever reason but they shouldn’t even be allowing people to play this course until they can cut the grass properly and fix it up. I should’ve known what I was in for when I picked up the golf cart when the brakes started squeaking and it looked like the carts were kept outside during Hurricane Ida or something. The course has a beautiful lay out and scenery but it needs some major TLC at the moment.

The greens have gotten away from them. Probably due to all the rain we are having in the area. Most had huge dead spots all over them and two, 2 and 5, are using temporary greens due to a fungus that has killed the entire green. We have played here quite a few times in the past. I will not be going back until they get the greens back under control. We did pay premium prices for a far less than premium golf course.

It started when I checked in an found out the back 9 was closed The front 9 had Hole numbers 2 and 5 with closed greens with flags placed on the front edge of the green.

The remaining greens were all in horrible condition.

Also the driving range was closed on both ends.

No price reduction or credit for 9 holes.

Overall the Golf Course is in very bad shape an I’m not going back.

This place was improving a lot over the past year but it seems they have lost a couple of greens recently. Hopefully it comes back, one of best layouts in Louisiana

Atchafalaya is still the best layout in our area, but the greens are in bad shape. Bunkers are better, but haven’t been raked lately and rough needs cutting although this is probably due to the rain we’ve had recently.

Love the layout of this course. I have played here many times but it has been a few months. Not sure what happened to the greens but a few were in bad shape

Love the course, difficulty, and speed. Not a ton of people so you can play at a nice pace. Only issue is some of the greens are in poor shape. Dead grass and spots that are full of divots. Overall 4.5/5

It’s one of the best “public” courses in the area by far. Although, half of the greens seemed to be under repair. The carts do not have the monitors telling you information about the holes anymore, and neither do they have the pin placement notification posted anywhere. The carts were also in need of serious repair. I’ll give the course another go again in about a month, though.

Fun, interesting and challenging layout but definitely need to turn on the sprinkler system. Fairways brown and dry but still had grass. Greens spongy and difficult to hold line and gauge speed. Like putting on a trampoline, need to be aerated. Best thing about the place now is the restaurant and people there.

I love this course but I only have a few problems. It was in great condition but the tee boxes on some holes were like hitting out of a bunker. non the less I love this course and I would recommend anyone to play it.

Fairways and greens are in great shape. Greens are a little slow but roll true and hold shots into the greens. Restaurant is always top notch with service and with accommodations at the turn, I recommend the beef sirloin salad. One of my favorite courses to play in south Louisiana!

Everything good including the course layout except the condition. Fairways dry and brown but still had grass. Greens average but the layout was fun. They just need to turn on their sprinkler system.

The sand traps are much improved. Fairways are nice. Greens are a little burnt on the front in places and very slow. I am sure it’s tough to cut them with the little rain of late though. Frustratingly slow foursome we caught on the 3rd, they didn’t let us through until the 7th. Other than that, good day.
