Love Atchafalaya
A great course that I play several times a year. Love the layout, greens are in good shape. My only issue is the abundance of sand in most of the bunkers,way too much powdery sand (noticed issue at several Audubon GT courses) . Otherwise I enjoy coming down here for the peaceful surroundings.
Couse is in need of some help
I'm sure at it's peak, the course was very nice. They do have condition issues on the greens and most of the bunkers are in such poor condition they cannot be played out of. They are repairing some at this time but still a long ways to go. Been playing here recently due to my home course being closed since Hurricane Ida. Layout is good and challenging. Hopefully, the grant money is put to good use. Finally, the carts available are all in very poor condition. A new fleet is really needed but I do understand how difficult it is to get carts right now.

Work on bunkers is nearing completion, Atchafalaya should be in great shape by the spring/summer! Best course layout in our area!
Golf carts are horrible. No control of number of players in a group.
Golf carts are horrible. Our cart barely made it through the round. Was told there were no other carts. Seats have big holes in some carts. Better off walking with a pull cart. The day we played there was a group of six partying drunk golfers teeing off on every tee box ahead of us on the front nine. We skipped holes 7 and 8 to get in front of them. Then on. The 10th tee there were six more in that group. No Marshall or any control of number of players per group. On the back nine the bathrooms were locked on the course. Bad experience. Must be having funding issues with course.

Was a member= Hurricane Ida took a right hook to my house trying to rebuild and move out of state . Staff at golf course real nice folks ! Mr. Ed Enjoy your retirement ! To my new friends who i played golf with at the Course - I will miss you guys ! My wife and I needed a stress free day and enjoyed our round of play ! Bunkers coming along ! Wild life aways a plus ! If you want a good round of golf Atchafalaya is a good hidden place to play . Will be back to play a few more rounds before i leave the Bayou State - Will miss my Home Course !
Unfortunately, no other options
It saddens me to see what this course has become. The number of golfers in the US grew last year, and many other courses in the Southeast are flourishing. Some courses are struggling with poor conditions because of too many people playing them. That is not the case at Atchafalaya. A non-existent qualified workforce and other local factors have caused this course and its employees to be hoping for a complete shutdown. Unfortunately, for the remaining local golfers, there are not many other decent options. Fortunately, for this course, it is one of few options. I struggle to recommend spending the $50-$70 fee to play, but I also have no idea what the better alternative would be. Atchafalaya will be greatly missed when it closes. If you do book a tee time, keep in mind that certain holes may be closed due to ongoing renovation.
Pace of play is great since the course and clubhouse are empty.
Due to location and conditions, this should cost closer to $35 right now.
