The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

I loved the course layout. But the grass was tall, the grass clippings were not removed, making it next to impossible to find your ball, just off of the green. Several of the Tee Boxes were over grown and did not have color markers. I would play here again, but would be a much better experience if these easy fixes were made and kept up.

THIS IS A GREAT COURSE BUT IT NEEDS LOVE FROM THE PARISH.

I have played this several times over the past 10 years and I must say this is the worst condition I have experienced. If I had not booked a Hot Deal, I would have been thoroughly upset to pay have paid $60. I should have had a clue when I tried the practice greens, which are overgrown and have weeds.

The tee boxes are overgrown and some are just sand boxes. The fairways are like the first layer of rough. Half of the greens have large patches of bare areas and there are insects crawling around that look like small worms. I'm not sure what is happening, but the course needs some major attention.

The positives are the staff and the sand traps are in much better shape than 3 or 4 years ago. I hope the course gets back to it's championship course days. It has a great layout, location and clubhouse. It was once my favorite in the area.

I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at this golf course. The tee boxes that are currently open are in poor condition, and the rough areas are neglected, resembling overgrown hay fields rather than well-maintained terrain. The greens are in even worse shape, with several having significant issues that render them nearly unplayable. Unfortunately, there seems to be no clear plan or effort to address these problems.

Having been a member for several years, it’s disheartening to see that the management and board of directors either lack the competence to resolve these issues or are not using the funds appropriately. There is a noticeable lack of oversight and accountability, which has led to a decline in the course’s overall quality.

It is truly a shame to witness a course with so much potential being overshadowed by poor management and maintenance. The only aspects thriving here appear to be incompetence and weeds.

This course has the potential to be a great place to play but it needs lots of work. Most of the greens are patched and a few had no grass at all. The tee boxes are un level with holes in most of the them. Fairways are overgrown to the point that it is possible to loose balls in the middle of the fairway. I would love to see this course become what it once was.

I played Atchafalaya for the first time in several years. When i checked in the the staff failed to mention the course was nearly unplayable. A couple of greens were non-existent and burned out and several other greens were nearly unplayable. Tee boxes were also nonexistent - on every hole. Further, the amount of cut grass left on the edges of the fairways and in the rough made it impossible to find balls that were even slightly off the fairway. Front desk staff should inform patrons of the condition of the course. Not worth the price...and will not be back.

This was the worst golf course I have ever tried to play on!

We left after 5&1/2 holes.

This was once a good course, but it needs major maintenance improvements in all areas.

I always enjoy this course but the second hole par 3 seems to be extremely neglected.

Two holes are completely closed so we had to play a couple of other holes twice

Love the course but would have been nice to know the condition of the course before.

I dont know if the problem is management, money, local politics or just incompetence but this course deserves better. If you're a greens keeper that can't grow grass in South Louisiana, you need to go do something else. The layout alone makes this course worth playing but it's heartbreaking to see how it's being maintained. The layout is tour level. It honestly could host a tour stop if it was maintained as well as Latour which is only an hour from here. I hope something is done to attract investors to this diamond in the rough because it has tremendous potential.

Also, the restaurant has great food, just needs to stay open longer on Sunday. 2pm is way too early to close.

Very good course. Very good pace of play. A few greens and tee boxes need some attention but still ok. Always fun to play

Very scenic and pretty course. Raccoons steel your snacks so hide them in a backpack they can’t run off with. The tee boxes and greens need work on some holes. Overall fun round on a scenic course.

Staff were professional and friendly as always. Some tee boxes were all sand and they are losing some green surfaces on a few holes. Was a little crowded with a lot of twosomes. We were to players in our group so we joined up with the twosome in front of us on the 10th hole to make play faster.
