The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

first time playing there in a couple of years. sand traps have greatly improved. putting green and several greens on the front nine had clumps of poa annua growing severely effecting the pace and accuracy of your putts. greens were slow overall but at least they were consistent. played course as a single and two foursomes allowed me to play thru on #3 and #14 respectively so pace of play was good. fairways are not as hard due to increased growth of grass resulting with better lies. but could still use some improvement. tee boxes had high newly planted grass which needed to be mowed but was much better than being sparse.

course is in its best shape in some time, played here several times last year and either the teeboxes were bad when greens were right or greens were messed up. course looks great currently, bunkers even played well. Glad to see the improvements. Also happy they changed out the mostly destroyed tee markers.

I loved the course. I really liked the big cypress knees out in the fairway to give you something to aim at.

Had 2” of rain the day before we played and 90 degree rule I couldn’t ask for anything better

Course.

Greens were very well groomed an well watered

Fairways were mowed leaving the right length of grass.

We have had a high level of rain but this allowed the course manager and his crew to properly groom the course.

Overall on a one to ten scale I would give the course condition to be a nine plus

Course was in great condition. Staff was very professional and polite as always. Greens were great and sand traps were full and in great condition.

I haven't played the course in over a year and it is getting back to where it once was. The improvements are definitely noticeable. The sand traps are in much better condition (a couple of years ago they were filled with weeds). The fairways and rough are in good shape. The greens are a bit slow, but they do roll true. The pace of play was excellent. I played 18 holes in 2.5 hours. I would recommend playing, especially at the Hot Deal rate.

Great condition and layout but the greens are super slow.

Amazing layout. Lots of nature- Raccoons, gators, armadillos. Tee boxes are playable (some under repair). Greens are worst part honestly, fungus or burnt on some parts of most. But very much still enjoyable and playable. Only worth about $40/round with range balls. Great restaurant. Definitely worth to play

The course is making great strides in overall course improvements. I saw multiple workers performing maintenance by fertilization of the fairways an greens.

The sand traps are better now than ever.

The driving range has moved back by the club house an it’s in excellent condition.

The lack of rain around the course has been a challenge for the maintenance crew but they are working through that issue by performing irrigation.

Overall good to see the effort by everyone.

I thought the course layout up to but not including the greens was in great shape. However, the putting greens, on a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate at best a 2.

Very disappointing to play a course with poor putting greens.

Had a great time at the course today. Tee boxs are in good shape and seems like the grounds keepers are working diligent at setting up new tee boxs, so there are temp boxes in place. Very wide fairways with lots of blind doglegs. Even have a big cypress knee in the middle of the fairway for 150 marker on most par4s and all par5s. Bunkers are powdery sand, and supprisingly not that hard to get out of. The greens however are in very bad shape with lots of crabgrass and just missing grass in large patches. Buuut the greens are rather soft and a bit slow so if u can hit them the ball will stop on a dime. I think we just need some rain which we have NOT been getting this summer. Also see alot of wildlife. Theres also some great restrooms throughout the course and the clubhouse / resturant is top notch. Staff is awsome to deal with every time! Looking forward to my next visit.
