Not what you expect for a CC
Played the course in mid-May, the course at best is similar to an average city or county run course. That is not necessarily bad, but it you have the idea you are playing a really nice country club you would be disappointed. Overall the greens are fine, the fairways are open and in good shape. The sand traps are a mix of good to poor condition, very much what you would expect in an average city or county course. For the price it was a good value, and I would play the course again.
Over priced
Lucky I got on through golfnow for $30. I feel it was over priced at that rate. I would have been really upset if I payed anymore!
Saw lots of ospreys, which was cool, but that's about it.
great in-town golf experience
Finally able to find a single golfer opportunity on Golf Now to play St. Petersburg Golf Course. Normally it only has opening for 2 - 4 golfers on this course. Course empty on a Monday afternoon at 1PM. Played in less than 3 hours and loved it.
Fairways in OK shape and greens OK as well. Will continue to monitor Golf Now to get out on this course as a single.
Well worth the money . Small greens bunkered greens nice layout
Fair golf course well designed . Greens in great shape . If you don't hit the green you will be in a bunker .
Stay below the pin , downhill putts treacherous . Good value for the money .
Great Golfing Experience
Very challenging but fair course that is in very good playing conditions. Greens were in great shape. It was great to be able to putt on greens that were a challenge put fair. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great value. Will play again.
Great greens
Great greens very scenic course.Pace of play under 4 hours
Decent track, worth a look
I played this with the wife during our spring break in St Pete Beach. The weather was perfect. Got paired up with two other fellow Michiganders and had a nice relaxing round. We saw an alligator on the course which was pretty cool for us northerners.
The conditions were decent. Fairways tended to blend into the "rough" without any real definition. Course was soft but not wet so maybe they just hadn't cut it. Greens were PERFECT though and that's what really matters. The layout is fine if not a little boring. Lots of doglegs with room to hit straight if you want. Generous landing areas at the corners. Some tree trouble if you're like me and like to see what the rough has to offer!
Back nine is a little more difficult with a bit more water to deal with.
Overall it was a good experience. My one critique is that as a non-member...they signage leading to the course made me feel like I was in the wrong spot. I had to pass 2 signs that said "MEMBERS ONLY BEYOND THIS POINT" before I could park my car. Once you walk in, it doesn't feel anything like a private club. It actually felt a lot like a muni if I'm being honest. No refreshments on course, shabby little hot dog shack at the turn, and a "nothing special" little clubhouse. I'm not complaining...I'm just being honest about the fact that it didn't feel anything like any private course I've been to.
Clubhouse had some GREAT deals on apparel and gear. Bought the wife some new Sketchers golf shoes and got myself a souvenir shirt!
TL:DR - worth your time. Fun, fair, and nice greens.
St Pete Country Club
Here for spring break holiday ... first impressions were not very positive given what appears to be a dark country club ... golf facilities run out of an adjoining building that is pretty non-descript. The staff though on arrival was very welcoming and helpful. The course turns out to be in very good condition and moderately challenging. Greens rolled slow but were in otherwise great condition. Would definitely play there again when back in the area.
Well maintained course...greens run true & relatively fast...probably 9 or 10's.....Will play again on my next trip to Florida
At a reasonable rate !
$ 40 ,, green fee ,, good value ,, course is in nice shape ! ,, greens are great ! pro shop girl was real nice ,,, outside cart guys was a grump ! ,,,
This course is Not forgiving ,,, mostly very tight fairways with the exception of about 6 ,, some water hazards but not too crazy ,, tree lined farways are the issue ,,,
this is an old course with a bunch of rag tag building and park lots put together ,, u will be challenged where to go for whatver u want ,,,
finally green grass
this was the first time playing the course and the course conditions were excellent. For the first time in three months was able to play shots from fairways with green grass and putt on smooth greens. It was a little pricey but well worth the added cost and were done with 18 holes in under four hours. I will be playing st. Pete CC a lot next winter.
St Pete CC outing
Gathered a few friends to play at St Pete CC. Beautiful day, challenging course. After finding the pro shop at the country club, we enjoyed the practice area Excellent iron and woods range and practice putting area. Course was in good shape and had been top dressed recently. Layout was great as each hole flowed into the next around the property. They had a halfway house at the turn, but nothing at the club itself was open for after round food or drinks.
Fun to play, course was in good shape. Lunch choices were not wonderful and what we ordered was not good.
SPCC
We had a delightful day. We were partnered with two very charming gentlemen, Sam&Len. No stress, most enjoyable. Fairways in pretty good condition & the greens are pretty difficult to read. We'll be back. 4hr play time not too bad considering the majority of golf clubs we have played in St-Pete averaged 4 3/4 hrs.... way too long for a golf game!
Very average
It's a misnomer that is is a "country club". Can't imagine paying to be a member there. Everything kind of second rate
SM
Excellent old style Florida course. Great staff.
The layout of the course is terrific,, some very challenging par 4's ,,,
Great experience
Great course at a fair price. Layout gives a feeling of total privacy.
