Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

Fun track

Unless you are fit, rent a cart as there is a lot of elevation change. Played from the Blue tees and it’s a fun track with a nice variety of hole layouts EXCEPT for 10,11 and 12 which were essentially mirror images of each other traversing the same gully. Overall the front nine is more interesting. Still worth the drive to Newberg.

Another great day of golf at CGCourse

The greens were in great shape. Overall course was in great shape. Staff was very friendly. Pace of play was 3.5hrs startung at 11:30am and drinking beers on the patio by 3pm. With GolfPass Hot Deal, green fees only $20.95. I love Chahalem Glenn course and Golf Pass as well. I highly recommend both of them to everyone!! Only complaint was you can't tip the Beverage cart girl with a credit card! You have to do it with cash!!! But now we know!!

What the Hill?

This was my first time playing this course.

Pros- Quiet, hilly course with beautiful views. Greens are average speed but had to repair many other ball marks bc apparently no one knows how to do that anymore. If you walk, prepare for a lot of up and down. It is not a long course, but the elevation changes make it a challenge. Marshalls on the course maintained speed of groups.

Cons- Most of the course was in good condition, but then on the back nine there were a few tee boxes that were divot ridden, and mostly sand. A few of the greens had bare or disease spots on the outskirts. If you cannot hit the ball straight it will be a challenge as there is a lot of OB in the form of trees or water.

Overall, I will be back, it is priced appropriately and presents a better challenge than similarly priced muni courses. Take a cart. If you have never payed here, get a yardage book, you will not be hitting driver on every hole.

Walked

We had been given the impression that it was an easy walk

That was not the case. It is very hilly if you are on foot. The course was enjoyable otherwise and in decent shape. Lots of challenging holes. Would like to play again with a cart as we fell behind the group ahead of us. Fortunately, we had no one behind us.

Must Play!!

This course is challenging and in incredible shape. Had a back 9 start for maintenance, it was nice to play the course backwards. Greens are true and straight!

Challenging but fair

Loved playing this course! While we were played with walkers we kept pace pretty well. Only problem was starting allowing singles - 2 sets - behind us and we had to let both play thru... As for the course it's in great shape, found the greens a bit slower than other challlenging courses but placement made them hard to putt anyway. Overall would play here again!

A beautiful challenging course!

Course was well manicured and staff was welcoming as always. Great round overall but a little feedback. I was disappointed that I couldn’t tip the beverage gal because I didn’t have cash with me. That should be corrected. Huge missed opportunity for her and makes those of us that want to support their service unmet. We were paired with smokers which was unpleasant whenever they fired up. They left their butts on the course as well - there should be some directive for them to not litter.

We look forward to another round soon! Cheers~

A great round

Had a great time playing the course for the first time. This being said, I would caution walking the course unless you area prepared for a serious 'hike''. With significant gradient change (the course is located in wine country) the round was entertaining!
