Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
About
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

4th green. Pretty typical of the course. That’s my ball by the pin from about 190 yds. Not bad, made for eagle. Photo submitted by markmcnwa on 11/20/2019

Chehalem Glenn Golf Course Photo submitted by AllenGoodall on 09/08/2015
Fun and tough!
It’s pretty rare on this course when your teeing off and the fairway ahead is flat. The slope on this course is a nifty 137, but it it’s your first time playing it it minus well be 143. Save all your energy for holes 6-14 because those are by far the toughest ones out there! Oh and take a cart because this course is tough to walk.
Great condition and a fun challenge!
Golf Day
This course is a public city course in very good condition. Many blind shots that usually would not be a problem but there was no course diagram with yardage. There were no yardage markers on the sprinkler heads, cart path or fairways. It was a cloudy day so my GPS was not working.
Directions to each hole were also not on the course so that was an issue.
The gardens noting the hole you were on were beautiful.
Course Management
Course is in good shape as of the date of this review. Good mixture of fairway layout so it makes you mix up your tee shots rather than just driver on every 4 and 5 par. Will be back for sure.
Slow play
Slow play with no one governing that as is usual anywhere I play golf these days. One guy quit ahead of us because he waiting so long to tee off. We just went to another hole
Club rental for my partner was exorbitant
Great course
Chehalem Glenn is one of my favorite courses. One improvement they could make would be to work the sand traps which are either bereft of sand, or in need of a deep taking. Only drawback to this course.
Low handicapper's delight
This golf course is challenging, yet fair. With a slope of 140, I recommend conservative course management for the uninitiated. The greens have always been well kept in my experience. This is overall a fun course that will reward those that deserve it.
Great course, very challenging
A lot of ravines with a downhill lie. Very challenging but totally worth it! Will come back again to get some redemption.
3rd time there
I'd hit this course more often if it wasn't an hour drive to get there, for me. The practice facility is a plus, and the holes are different enough given the terrain. Overall, I enjoy playing this course.
A good day.
The course was in great shape, just a couple greens were sub-optimal. Recent changes have made it more player friendly, especially the back nine.
Greens
Wonderful course, only issue is poa has really gotten into greens, makes them bumpy, need to firm up, roll, and mow a bit shorter, otherwise great course, challenging
Brutal walk
Go golfing or go hiking, don’t try both unless you’re training for special forces. The golf now price made the hour drive worth it but not sure I would make the drive to play this course again for the regular rates.
Challenging Course
Fine golf course. Much tougher than I expected. I should have paid a little more attention to the course rating!!.
Bunkers Improving
The course is playing great. Realize the plug and sanding was later than usual but the rain in April was pretty heavy. The grounds crew is working diligently to get the bunkers back in shape. Hey I thought the object was to stay out of the bunkers anyway...
Bunkers
The bunkers are in horrible shape and should be marked ground under repair! Greens where plugged late but once they heal will put well. Someone needs to get on the superintendent to dedicate time and effort into getting the bunkers into a respectable shape as they are currently looking like a trailer park lawn.
Poor condition
They charged full price for a course that had weeds in every sand trap, half the traps were closed for ground under repair. The greens were recently plugged and the fairways were recently plugged and sanded. There were no beverage/snack carts. Poor value. Disappointing.
I have played here multiple times and the staff is always very cordial and friendly.
A little neglected
I've played this course several times, the tees, fairways and rough were in great shape. The greens had just been punched, and the course gave a $10 credit to be used on the next round. What was disappointing was that the bunkers haven't been touched since last season. The sand was hard packed and full of weeds and patches of grass.
