Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
About
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

4th green. Pretty typical of the course. That’s my ball by the pin from about 190 yds. Not bad, made for eagle. Photo submitted by markmcnwa on 11/20/2019

Chehalem Glenn Golf Course Photo submitted by AllenGoodall on 09/08/2015
Nicely maintained; Greens very slow
Course was nicely maintained but greens were way too slow.
Great value
Course was in great shape and pace of play was 4 hours which was perfect.
Tough Course, Great Price!
I frequently play at Chehalem Glen. Walking the course is difficult but great exercise, I would advise a cart as some holes are quite a trek to hike up. This is an awesome course that is always in great shape no matter the time of year. Staff is always friendly and the prices are fair. Check Golf Now for great twilight prices!
All-around great experience every single time at Chehalem!
Fun course
Enjoyed playing this course. It was challenging yet very playable for someone who does not play a lot. Recommend a cart because of some difficult areas for walking. However, I walked the course and could do it again but not on a weekend when play I am sure would be heavy. The walk between some shots or holes can be time consuming if you are being followed by carts. The course is in excellent condition and very scenic.
Chehalem Glenn is in fantastic condition. Greens were a little slick with tough pin placements. The entire staff at the pro shop make for an enjoyable day in Newberg.
Nice course, not easy to walk and the fairway bunkers has grass growing in several of them.
It is a beautiful course.
Beautiful, challenging and great fun!
This was our first time to play Chehalem Glenn and we can't wait to go back! The 3 of us walked the course on a very warm day........it was a hike! We loved the course. It was beautiful and challenging; there was a good carry required on almost every hole! Take extra balls your first time, there are lots of blind shots. I wish there was a restaurant on site to savor the experience after the round.
Winter golf
Fairway and greens were in great shape considering how much rain we have had recently. The rough was sloppy but that's expected this time of year. I hadn't played it in years since they made the course changes. The changes made it more playable for average golfers. Only problem with the changes was #13. It got turned into a dinky par 3 they should have left that hole the way it was. If you can swing it I highly recommend playing this course
Great! (For Winter in the valley)
I'm a big fan of this course. Great layout. Often the best value in my opinion. The course is in great condition considering the rest of the valley tends to be underwater this time of year. A little sloppy, but tees and fairways are playable, and the greens are in stellar shape. I will be back!
fun/challenging afternoon
Beautiful setting/quite a few spots with water due to the rain we have had in the last week. for seniors, there is at least one hole most won't be able to carry over the gully but there is alternate tee. Also think for the average golfer speed of play may be a problem on this challenging course. Still will recommend you play it. Take extra balls - I lost 6.
Brutally slow greens
Overall Chehalem Glen is a nice design in great condition except for the greens. A Parks and Recreation board run the course for the city and obviously they know NOTHING about golf. The green could not of run more than 5 of the stemp meter. I thought they much have been doing some greens maintenance which is typical this time of year, but when I asked at the shop after my round, they said this was the normal speed. They explained to me that the park board wants the greens to be perfectly green and they don't care about play-ability. It is unlikely I'll go back. They greens were so slow, they are not playable to my. A 10 foot putt wouldn't hold it's line. It's a shame, because it is a fun design.
tough
tough course but worth the drive
Best value around!
A well kept course that is challenging yet fair for the amateur golfer. The green fees are very reasonable, though to add a cart is a bit pricy. I played on a hot afternoon as a single and got behind three foursomes that were super slow. No prob. I just skipped a hole when they were all bunched up. The rest of the day was wide open. Greens and fairways were well maintained.
