Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

Always a good time, some upgrades could make it great!

I love Chehalem Glenn. It always poses unanticipated challenges due to forced carries and dramatic elevation changes. I would like to see some of the tee boxes rebuilt with better composition and drainage so you can avoid hitting off a downhill or side hill lie; or being faced with hitting out of or next to a divot - unrepaiired, of course. The quality of the sand traps is always an issue. In my opinion, I would transform many of the sand bunkers (particularly the ones that line the fairways) into grass bunkers. This should free up some money to put sufficient quality sand into the green side bunkers.

As far as my most recent round is concerned, the fairways and rough were in pretty good condition considering the amount of play and the much hotter than typical summer temperatures. I was particularly happy with the condition of the greens. The rolled smoothly and held nicely, but were cut a little long making them a little slower than I prefer. All things considered another great day at Chehalem Glenn.

Excellent Course

Chelem Glen is a meticulously kept, beautiful course. There are wide open fairways, challenging hills and valleys and water obstacles, especially on the back nine. It is very peaceful and relaxing to play here. It is seldom crowded and I have never felt rushed. Greens fees are reasonable and competitive. You definitely need a cart for this course unless you are very hardy. The flowers at the tee boxes are beautiful. It is a little out of the way to get here but definitely worth the trip. I highly recommend Chehalem Glen.

Good course / don’t walk

Enjoyed playing but it kind if ate our lunch! Up and down a million times - tough walk. Lost some balls with a few holes that felt slightly unfair off the tee. But overall solid track.

Chehalem Glenn Golf Course

Very nice golf course . Lots of elevation changes and requires thinking yourself around the course and not just blasting driver on every hole. The course was well maintained and greens were in excellent condition. Will definitely play again next time I’m in town.

Becoming my home course

I have been playing Chehalem Glenn once a week. I find the course fun, challenging, and a good value during the week. I'm one of the rare guys who walks/carries this course, which is quite challenging given the terrain, but I love it.

This year the course has been well maintained. The greens roll nicely but can be a bit spongy early in the morning.

My only complaint is pace. While my last outing played very quickly, it's pretty common for rounds to be a bit slow. Marshalls are often on the course and do try to help, especially when asked.

Plays over a ravine

A ravine runs through many holes with a carry required off most tees. Greens were in good shape, rolled well. We had a slow 4 some in front of us. Good challenge!

Favorite place to play

I totally like playing the course. Everybody in the Pro Shop is friendly. The Marshalls on the other hand could use some more training. Need to keep the pace of play flowing. All they seem to care about is their free golf. I played out there about a week ago. And a marshall sent out the group that I was with 5 minutes early. When I arrived they were already on the first green and I was on the t-box and plenty of time for my tee time.
