Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
About
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

4th green. Pretty typical of the course. That’s my ball by the pin from about 190 yds. Not bad, made for eagle. Photo submitted by markmcnwa on 11/20/2019

Chehalem Glenn Golf Course Photo submitted by AllenGoodall on 09/08/2015
Beautiful and challenging course
Chehelem Glen is a very well maintained course. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It is a difficult course that challenges golfers of all skill levels.
Nice course, good value
First time playing Chehalem. Nice layout with mountains and.nice views. many downhill tee shots then uphill second shots. Fairways were good, greens were very nice. Greens could be tricky in that putts moving away from the mountain tended to rollout an extra 5’ to 10’.
Overall good value
Chehalem Glen is a fun and challenging muni
Chehalem Glen is a challenging track with lots of elevation changes. Fairways are generally in good condition as are the greens. The two areas that could use some attention are the traps (need more and higher quality sand) and the tees. The tees in general, need to be rebuilt and replanted. Knowing the two primary deficiencies, the course is still quite playable. I recommend you play Chehalem. The course is gettable, just make sure you have a plan for each hole.
Mostly good, greens are less than ideal.
Overall condition of the course was pretty good, but there were a number of greens that had patches of grass missing. They also struggle to maintain consistency with the greens around the course. There are a couple of greens that are much faster than others and it makes for a frustrating experience given how slow the greens are overall.
Never again
Five hour round. 3-4 of the stupidest golf holes I have ever seen. Course in less than good shape. Staff was very nice. Overall, not a good golf experience.

Greens
Wonderful layout, beautiful flowers and landscaping. But they need to fix their greens. For a high caliber course such as this, the greens are too spongy and bumpy. They need to be firmed up and rolled. Everyone has poa and that is not the issue. Portland city courses have figured it out. Maybe you need a different mower and water leas to firm up.
Otherwise great course.
Great value!
The course was in great shape with the exception of the bunkers. Doesn't appear that they have started grooming yet. Also, since its early season play, the cart path only for carts is annoying.

Good even when soggy
Course is currently gearing up for the main season with growing out the rough and aerating greens but still a great place to play. Drains well minus a few spots in this the organian flooding season.
Wet course, but mostly dry day
First, thanks to the staff for working us into the lineup quickly after accidentally booking the wrong day. :(
Course was muddy, but that was expected as this was the least rainy day of the weekend.
Best hot dog at the turn! I'd do that again!!!
Fun course, will play again and will ride. Too much up and down for walking...

Early Spring Golf
Overall, the course is "fun" and challenging but low-handicappers might find it boring. The most challenging holes are #4 from the back tee. #9 requires a really good drive in order to have a good second shot. #13 Par 3, when playing the longer of the two holes, requires at least 215 yard straight shot to land on the green.
I play the course 5 to 7 times a year on average throughout the year at different times of day. I know the course and the expected conditions quite well. First off, I recommend rent a cart if you're not in any shape to walk. And if you walk, I recommend using a pull/push cart. For the course, if you want ideal conditions, I recommend playing from May to September, with "best" conditions being from June to mid-September.
The staff is always friendly and courteous. Club house is very basic . . . they have beer, soft drinks, hot dogs, coffee, and snacks and some basic merchandise like balls, shirts, gloves, hats, etc.
The practice and warm-up areas are adequate but there's a short-game area down the road east of the club house.

Wet fairways, but greens were good and firm.
Despite having water on the paths and some muddiness on the hillsides, the greens were surprisingly firm. This is a tough course, but I love the challenge every time I play it.
