All good but the sand
Nice layout, greens in good shape but slow. Bunkers have no sand and what sand is there is not raked. Could be a great course with some TLC
NIce layout
Very nice layout to this course. The course conditions were good except for the bunkers, which need to have sand added to them. The greens have a nice design to them and are very puttable. The fairways are mostly lush and fun to hit off. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would play this course again.
Good value
I normally play this every other week, but this year it's been few and far between. 9th year playing here and countless rounds. Course is in good shape. Had the second tee time of the day so it was in good playing condition. Just wish it had a "real" clubhouse after 10 years of being open.
Great day!
I shot a 98 and I'm happy anytime I break 100. Other than the greens being rough the course was great. A couple joined us to make it even a better day.
Excellent course design, beautiful natural areas
Good pace of play in spite of heavy traffic. There are a lot of areas left natural (tall native grasses), so you will almost certainly lose some balls on this course, but it definitely makes for a prettier than average course.
The number nine tee should have markers listing distance to carry over the hazard and distance to the end of the fairway -- it is a difficult shot to plan.
Pretty good track
Course in acceptable shape.
Greens-traps- could have been in better shape
Pace of play was excellent for Sun.
Don't have tournament and offer tee times.
They had a tournament in the morning and it delayed our tee time by 1/2 hour. Other than that the course is in great condition.
Good design, visually stimulating, challenging but accessible.
We got an amazing price around mid-day and couldn't pass it up. Overall, the course was in pretty good shape. They were replacing/repairing sod in quite a few areas. It seems that something has damaged many of the course's turfgrass in Middle Tennessee this year. This location was no different, but the conditions were more than playable. It did not affect my ability to play or change my enjoyment level whatsoever. I thought the greens were nice, although terribly soft. So much so that it made it hard to adequately repair them. (Several approach shots embedded.) And not enough people were even trying. There were many bad marks and "divots" in all the greens. Please people, carry a tool and fix your marks! Haven't played there in a couple of years, but it seems they've changed from the white fluffy "Tour" sand to the same brown, crunchy stuff everybody else has. No big deal, but it was more fun to play out of the easy stuff. Especially since there's so much of it there. Bring your best sand game! People were friendly enough. Grill was okay. They could use some more options. Kinda slim pickings. Bring nose plugs for the back nine. It seems there's a sewage treatment plant directly next to a few holes back there. WOW! Only real design flaw I could see, or uh SMELL. I'll still come back. But I'll have some stogies ready for all on the back. ;-) All in all, KC is a well designed, beautiful place to play golf. Very visually stimulating on many holes. With some work, it could be really wonderful.
Excellent recovery from winter kill
Course was in great condition considering winter kill middle TN experienced this past winter. Staff has done a great job getting fairways back into playable condition. Those who play however need to start repairing ball marks, if your going to play the game then respect the game. Will play again
Solid Track
I played here over a year ago in the early spring, so it was nice to see the grass come in (well the grass that wasn't affected by the horrible winter).
The greens were recently punched, we weren't told this upon checking in.
There is a good mixture of holes including my favorite, #9 which is a drivable par 4. The par 3's on the back are long and the par 5's involve water.
The meandering creek is peaceful although it can catch a ball easily. It would be nicer if the thick vegetation were cut down to enjoy the creek more.
Getting better
Fairways are improved significantly. Slow Sunday play. Greens in good shape. Players could help by fixing their ball marks Good value overall.
Good course for price
Overall good course..... A couple of the fairways are under repair but they are coming around..... Fairly challenging from the Palmer tees
Great rolling greens
Course still needed some work, which I knew about before playing. The best part of the course was the greens, they were in very good shape & rolled true. About half of the fairways were nice, the others were bare in places.
Great layout, poor conditions
Course turf was in poor condition as was cart paths, etc.
Greens were pretty good, but no one repairs their ball mark
great layout
Very fun course to play, will play again. Still needs to recover from winter on a few holes but within the next few weeks should be there. Looking forward to playing again.
Great course
The course and staff was great. Still working on some of the fairways. Like everywhere they had a bad winter. I really enjoy the course. Will be glad in a fee weeks when the fairways are back open. The ground crew is working extremely hard. And in a few weeks it will be a amazing course.
Great value
Long drive to the middle of no where but great value and nice course with great greens.
Great course but some huge disappointments
The good:
The par 5's at 16 and 17 are absolutely beautiful and I would play those holes any day and any time. I love the sand traps. Usually, fairway bunkers are placed where the amateur golfer doesn't have to strategically play to avoid them but at this course, there were many holes where I had to make decisions on the tee box. I believe it is hole 11, par 4, bunkers at 220 yards on right and the fairway dog legs to the right behind the bunkers. To the left of the bunkers is the 150 pole and fairway, behind the bunker, is plenty of fairway and you are left with an 80 yard wedge shot into the green if you can clear the bunkers and roll 40-50 yards.
The bad:
I play par 3 and par 4 courses often because my short iron game is the worse part of my game. When I go to a full length course, it's to combine all phases for a well rounded experience. 7 of the 18 holes were par 3's with a couple of par 4's playing so close that they could be long par 3's. Needles to say I hit 8 and 9 irons a lot for my 2nd shots.
I understand that the winter was very cruel to the course and it left some fairways unplayable. The staff did communicate well so I wasn't completely disappointed when we arrived at the holes.
Overall, the course is beautiful enough and challenging enough to come back. The many par 3's and short par 4's might keep me away if I have to pay full price.
Winter damage is still prevalent throughout the course.
Many fairways still exhibit the results of the harsh winter. Sand traps are sand less and need extensive repairs. Greens are coming back but still needs some TLC.
