Enjoyable and no crowd
Course is well maintained with great overseeding, meaning good fairway grass for this time of year. Good sand, too. Played on Sunday morning and there was practically nobody out there - a rare and fun solo round. The only drawback is that a few of the holes are a little close to each other, so I did have an errant ball come pretty close.

Course opened in December after being closed for an extended time and under new management (Hampton). Considering this the course is in decent shape. Fees a little high.
Good day at Spruce Creek South
AS A PGA LIFE MEMBER FROM N.C.,I WAS TREATED GREAT BY THE PRO SHOP STAFF AND AN OWNER WHO WAS THE SUPERINTENDENT.WE DISCUSSED THE COURSE CONDITIONS AND FOUND THAT THEY HAD A ROUGH WINTER AS WE DID IN NORTH CAROLINA ESPECIALLY WITH SOME WINTER KILL.OVERALL THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AND THE GREENS ROLLED AT A VERY CONSISTENT. IT WAS A GREAT DAY AND I ENJOYED IT VERY MUCH. BILL HENDLEY,PGA
Unfortunate deteriorating conditions
Just 18 months ago the course was shut down to renovate the course. I had left for the summer and just returned and was looking forward to playing. but the course is already getting bad. They are making the greens smaller and where they are supposed to have the first cut or fairway is bare and dying grass. Many of the fairways are brown and gave the appearance like it has not been watered in some time although we have had storms and rain in the area. Because of the cold (or the conditions) there were very few playing; a twosome ahead and a twosome we let through after 9 holes. So pace of play was great! Overall I was disappointed.
Back Again
We had played this course a few weeks ago and found it a bit rough. We knew it was under new ownership and that improvement was being made. I'm glad to say that the fairways and traps have gotten much better. The greens while not perfect were playable and improving. The course layout is challenging on a few holes front and back. All in all it's worth playing again.
Coming Back
We got to the course about 40 minutes early and were able play right away.
Course conditions weren't the best as the greens weren't consistent in speed. They were not bad otherwise. The fairways were dry and patchy with a lot of cow grass and weeds. From what we understand the course is under new management and is coming back slowly. There is a fair amount of water on the course and the layout is good. We will come back in a month or so and see if it's in better shape.
The course is good
Very good course. They are under new management and there's not much in amenities. But the golfing is good. I was not.
fun day, stay out of the rough
Enjoyed the layout, have played here several times. I believe that there are new owners, very friendly. Greens were fine, fairways some weeds, but the rough was all weeds and very high - this slowed play while looking for balls even if you had a good idea where it went in.
fairways are bad
goose grass everywhere, bad as two years ago, could be a nice course
Great Value
Played with a local group of friends and found the course to be in very good condition. Greens were somewhat dry but rolled very well. Nice grass in the fairways. A number of challenging holes with dog legs where you are tempted to risk trying short cuts which makes for some fun play. Very reasonable rate and an overall good experience.
Good Morning Mr. Fragala,
Thank you for the excellent "4-star review"! I'm very pleased you enjoyed the conditions of the course and had a great experience! Just so you are aware, the greens are not dried out. They appear that way because we do not overseed our greens. We prefer our Champion Bermuda Ultradwarf play fast and true for ideal winter conditions, thus the reason the fairways and overseeded areas look so green! Nevertheless, please send me an email to golfsprucecreek@gmail.com for a great coupon from me to you for posting such a great review! Thank you & have a great day!

Great remodel
First time played since remodel. Greens close to perfect all new greens and beach sand bunkers all redone. Club house redone every thing has been upgraded. Value for money way up there. Greens like Ocala, county course, Stone Creek. Hard will take some time to get ball stopping quick but very fast and true to put. Greens very lush for January very impressed. Put it on your list to try.

Has gone downhill
Lots of damage on greens. No consistent roll on greens some fast others slow.
Lots of bare patches on greens.
Fairways reasonable.
NEW MANAGMENT - took over in July, 2017. You will see big changes in course condition, staff, and your experience. Give us another chance.
Inexpensive, for good reason, but ok for the money
Made the reservation for $13, but didn't know it was a shotgun until the 2nd e-mail confirmation, so the system failed on that, fix it. Course condition is weak overall, with a temporary hole. However, the beer was cheap and you got a free hot dog! Experienced players will be disappointed if they care about course condition. Hope they can get the course back this summer, it's not a bad layout at all.
New Greens, New Management, New Experience. No Shot Gun starts.
No free Hot Dogs, but grill is open, and yes we still have beer.
handy location
Well located and a fun course to play. Some of the Greens are not in the best of the shape. Played here in past years, and I have to say the course has slipped a bit during that time.
Come back and play again. New management is currently spraying weeds and looking good.
