Great Value
Played with a local group of friends and found the course to be in very good condition. Greens were somewhat dry but rolled very well. Nice grass in the fairways. A number of challenging holes with dog legs where you are tempted to risk trying short cuts which makes for some fun play. Very reasonable rate and an overall good experience.
Great remodel
First time played since remodel. Greens close to perfect all new greens and beach sand bunkers all redone. Club house redone every thing has been upgraded. Value for money way up there. Greens like Ocala, county course, Stone Creek. Hard will take some time to get ball stopping quick but very fast and true to put. Greens very lush for January very impressed. Put it on your list to try.

The Links of Spruce Creek
Has gone downhill
Lots of damage on greens. No consistent roll on greens some fast others slow.
Lots of bare patches on greens.
Fairways reasonable.
NEW MANAGMENT - took over in July, 2017. You will see big changes in course condition, staff, and your experience. Give us another chance.
Inexpensive, for good reason, but ok for the money
Made the reservation for $13, but didn't know it was a shotgun until the 2nd e-mail confirmation, so the system failed on that, fix it. Course condition is weak overall, with a temporary hole. However, the beer was cheap and you got a free hot dog! Experienced players will be disappointed if they care about course condition. Hope they can get the course back this summer, it's not a bad layout at all.
New Greens, New Management, New Experience. No Shot Gun starts.
No free Hot Dogs, but grill is open, and yes we still have beer.
handy location
Well located and a fun course to play. Some of the Greens are not in the best of the shape. Played here in past years, and I have to say the course has slipped a bit during that time.
Condirltion OK, price amazing. Very friendly staff.
FAirways were in poor condition, greens Ok( similar to the average Villages course), price was amazing at $24 each. Much better than the 60 to 70 we're paying at Villages. Staff very nice. I really would love to play this when in great condition, cause a great design.
Bad greens
Very bad greens ,17 holes open
New Greens, New Management, New Experience. Give us another chance....
Good Course- Poor Scheduling
Started on back nine with the first T-time and ran into other golfers at #15, waited on each shot the rest of the round and had to wait 35 minutes at the turn. Course had shotguns and regular T-times simultaneously. Play this course regularly and scheduling is an issue most of the time.
priced right / grrens were rough
good price for in season. greens were rough. play was slow. course has a good layout but needs work on the greens.

Brown Equals Green
I've played this course before and have never seen it in such poor condition. The greens specifically were horrible. There were more bare spots than grass and what grass was there just made the greens (Browns) bumpy. The tees were a little better but not much. It was difficult to tee up the ball and have a firm level stance at address. Sand traps were hard pack. After exiting one trap I could barely see my footprints. I was with my wife who played the red tees some of which were just red markers placed in the fairways. They were not groomed at all. Otherwise if what is important to you is the fairways and rough you would be just fine. It's a nice layout so I hope they are oable to get it back into shape.

great layout & scenic
the fairways were good but the greens were very rough with sand and slow so everyone had an extra putt, but if they were better we wouldn't hesitate to come back

The Linx
Not a good first impression! I wasn't impressed with the person doing the "bag drop" when I pulled up, he had his cell phone stuck to his ear and was having a personal conversation and he wouldn't even put the phone down. Trying to ask him questions in between his conversation was rude at the best. And the real kicker is he kept talking on the phone as I was about to leave when the nxt guy pulls up and he goes over to his trunk with the phone still glued to his ear. Not good! The driving range is beat and so is the price for a small basket of balls. There, all the negatives are out. Probably the smallest greens I've ever played on, but held and rolled great. Course is in good shape and has an interesting layout. Pace of play was slow. 5hr round. but I wasn't in a hurry. Yes, I will go back.
good value for conditions
The course was in decent condition except for a few thin area's in the fairways considering north central florida winter weather. The greens were very good and fast. I will play here again soon.
Challenging enough
The course is in fairly good shape but the greens could be better. That could be because of the time of the year, It is challenging enough for any level of ability. It does have practice facilities. People are friendly and helpful if needed.
Great value for money
A nice average course with good overall course conditions and great value for money in the $20 to $30 range depending where or how booked. The greens were fast paced but, due to extreme hot Florida weather this fall, the rye overseed did not take 100%. Some greens were sparse in some spots however most were grown in enough (as you would expect) to provide for accurate putting. The pace of play was very good at just under 4 hours due to good organization re: staff beginning in the pro shop, the cart area and the starter. Marshalls were evident on the course. Don't we wish all courses had on course marshalls!
Generous fairways with some ponds and bunkers providing some challenges here and there.
I generally play somewhat more upscale courses but will play this one again if others are not available.
Forget This Place!!
This course is in a gated community just outside the area of The Villages in Florida - the security guard was very pleasant.
I found a great deal on Golf Now and that is the extent of the 'Positives'. We registered as a twosome for a 9:52 am start time. Since we hadn't played in a few weeks due to our travels, we arrived at 9:15 to go to the range. I can normally put up with a lot on a golf course - but not this place!
Now the Negatives:
1) Check-in was slow and they took your phone number and physical driver's license for range balls. Apparently, the locals are ripping off their buckets. You get your license back when you return the buckets.
2) Two cart guys checked us in and we got our cart and headed over to the Starter. We were told that we had been paired up - not a problem. So, off to the range.
3) At the range at 9:25 - half hour to warm up, good. Not good - at 9:37 a marshal tells us that we are on deck. I mentioned we were paired up and our time was 9:52. He didn't care and told us to get ready. Should have left right there.
4) We arrive at the Starter at 9:42 and meet the very nice ladies we were paired with. No one ahead of us - this is going to be good - NOT! We also noticed a time chart on the window that shows the time you 'should' spend on each hole. 121 minutes (2 hr 1 min) per nine was their 'suggested' pace.
5) At hole #3, a marshal comes up and informs us that there is a gap between us and the group ahead. We mentioned that there was no one in front of us when we teed off. He didn't want to hear that and said we need to pick up the pace.
6) At the tee box of #9, yet another marshal is checking pace of play and mentions 'the gap'. He didn't want to hear our story either.
7) We finish the front nine in 2 hr 10 min. A couple of the ladies needed the facilities at the turn. While waiting, a different marshal waves at me and points at his watch and informs us we are 8 minutes off pace - are you kidding me!! A few more words were exchanged and off to #10.
8) At #10, still one more marshal (that's #8) was checking cart numbers and pace. He again informed us of 'the gap'. Needless to say, he didn't want to hear about 'the gap' either.
9) We finished the round without any other incidents or seeing anyone in front of or behind us. We looked at our finishing time and it was
4 hr 2 min - exactly what they 'suggested'. While I was putting our clubs in the car, my wife filed a complaint in the Pro Shop. Doubt anything will come of it.
As mentioned, I can put up with a lot at a golf course, but this was way more than I could handle. If you can put up with a lot of harassment, then this course is for you. I will not recommend this course to anyone and I will, obviously, never return.
WOW!!! what an experience. You will be happy to hear that this course is under new management. The folks you referred to as being rude are gone... Condition of course is improved. Give The Links another chance.
the Links at Spruck Creek
A nice, moderately easy layout, with very good course maintenance. The starters have the process down pat, with carts assigned & our golf bags loaded & ready to go. We started on the back 9, & had no problems with the pace of play or course conditions. We will play this course again, but be aware the are many courses in the area with the "Spruce Creek" name.
Good Enough
Sunday 9:38 t-time ...expected slow-ish pace of play...but friends say-so and on-line reviews made us expect a good day.
Got off a little late as 2-some, starter could not pair us.... behind 4, and behind 4 off the first tee. Noticed the 4-some behind us waiting as were we....expected as much, but by 4th hole seemed very slow.
Asked Ranger at the 10th T if the group we were following was also waiting....no clear answer.
We skipped the 11th hole par 3 past them and didn't see any one until the 17th fairway.
Caveat emptor
Larryp
Course in good shape. Greens were in really great shape. Nice course for all levels of golfers.
Very fair course
Greens are in perfect condition, challenging short course, don't be afraid to play the blues, only 400 yards longer.
Good Morning Mr. Fragala,
Thank you for the excellent "4-star review"! I'm very pleased you enjoyed the conditions of the course and had a great experience! Just so you are aware, the greens are not dried out. They appear that way because we do not overseed our greens. We prefer our Champion Bermuda Ultradwarf play fast and true for ideal winter conditions, thus the reason the fairways and overseeded areas look so green! Nevertheless, please send me an email to golfsprucecreek@gmail.com for a great coupon from me to you for posting such a great review! Thank you & have a great day!
