Sunny Hills Golf Club

About
Sunny Hills Golf Club is a classically designed course that is a straightforward challenge balanced by immense playability. The golf course is mostly flat but there are a few undulations that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Carved from the surrounding woodlands, the layout measures in at a lengthy 7,095 yards, which means long hitters are given the opportunity to really shine. Sand bunkers are sparsely but strategically placed throughout, ready to swallow errant shots if you're not careful. The challenging layout is made more approachable by four different sets of tees that can be adapted to all different skill levels. In addition to the golf course, Sunny Hills is an excellent place to work on your short game with a driving range, expansive putting green, and a chipping green with a practice bunker.

$25 is tough to beat but....
For $25 in a time of COVID it is difficult to be overly critical. We never have any difficulty getting a tee time at Sunny Hills, especially early in the afternoon when it is likely to be extremely hot, as today. With limited income at the club, the bar/grill is closed, maintenance of the course has taken a back seat . Fairways and greens leave a lot to be desired.
However, staff are extremely helpful and friendly. There is no on-course supervision and notwithstanding the sign in the clubhouse not to touch the flags, the group ahead of us pulled all the flags. My wife and I kept our distance.
Expensive and Underwhelming
This course has one of the easiest layouts I’ve ever played. It’s actually my local course. The price to play this course is very similar to the nice courses in Panama City while the actual course itself could be compared to a course under renovation. The greens are slow and dead with very little grass on them, the layout on each hole is very straight except for 2 or 3 holes and the bunkers have hard sand to hit out of, similar to a kids sandbox. The fairways are the best thing about this course but that’s not saying much. The local golfers have stopped playing here due to the crazy high prices compared to better and cheaper courses located within 20-30 miles away. Unless I just had to play this course, I’d go somewhere else.
TheBoot
the course is in relatively good condition the greens need to be cut a little shorter they're running a little bit slow but they look very good overall I'd recommend this course.
Horrible greens
The greens, if you want to call them that were more bare dirt and sand than grass. Worst greens I have EVER played on. The course should have given a warning of how bad they were before letting you go out. They also charged their regular price. One green was so bad they had to mow a circle in front of the green and place a flag there.
Great when rain is threatening
Always in playable condition, rain has little to no adverse effect. Military price, active & retired. Some greens are in need of work, but overall the course provides a pleasant experience. Almost all greens are guarded with a bunker in the front or on the side. short is better than long on this course as most greens have a ridge that you must chip back over.
Great for the price
First time here and was very surprised. Hour drive from Panama City Beach. The clubhouse was nothing special but I wasn't there to sit in the proshop. After playing courses in PCB and Destin I was very surprised to see how green the fairways and greens were. The rough was dry and dormant which provided for good rolls. The greens were in great shape with good rolls, a little slow if you're used to tournament play. Overall I was happy with the course, especially for the money. The carts were gas engines and a little run down but got the job done.
Great place to Golf
I play this course as much as possible. Very reasonably priced. The course is in excellent shape. They continue with improvements all the time. The staff is very courteous and friendly.
Great course!!
First time playing this course but will not be my last. Great staff and the course was in almost perfect shape. Fairways are large and open but it has enough distance to challenge nearly all golfers. Can't wait to play again.
Sunny Hills
The course is very forgiving, open, wide fairways. Some water and traps sufficient to give a challenge. Well maintained and almost always playable even after a big rain. I enjoy playing this course.
