Heritage Hill Golf Club – A Memorable Day in Louisville
From the moment you drive into the neighborhood leading to Heritage Hill, you get the sense this is more than a typical public course. The homes are beautiful, the grounds are pristine, and the whole place has a country club feel. I even noticed a gorgeous empty house right behind the clubhouse, which added a curious bit of character to the setting.
The practice facilities were a great start to the day. The driving range is long, wide, and covered in lush grass, making it perfect for a proper warm-up. Right next to the first tee is a small chipping green—nothing fancy, but handy for quick short-game prep.
On the course, I was paired with a local golfer and had an absolute blast. Heritage Hill is a course that keeps you engaged from start to finish. Stretching over 7,100 yards from the tips, it’s a championship-level challenge, but with five tee boxes it’s approachable for all skill levels. Fairways are zoysia, greens are bent grass, and both were in great condition. The layout flows through rolling farmland and woods, with the Salt River adding scenic touches and natural hazards. Wildlife is plentiful too—I saw deer and turkeys, and I’ve heard bald eagles nest near the closing holes.
We played a little too late in the day, so I missed out on finishing hole 17, but I did get to experience 18—and what a finishing hole it is. The tee drops about 75 feet down to a left-leaning fairway, setting up a thrilling approach into a green that demands precision. It’s a memorable closer that leaves you wanting to come back for more.
Heritage Hill is easily one of the best values in Kentucky golf. The layout is smart and scenic, the conditions are excellent, and the staff and atmosphere make you feel welcome. I’ll definitely be back—with enough daylight to play all 18.
Great value, nice course!
Very enjoyable round for the most part! The greens on the back 9 were rough, no notice about them being freshly punched but a great time overall. The course was in very nice shape otherwise. Would definitely recommend.
Greens in extremely poor conditions
Great pace of play (3h40m). Course design is versatile with challenging PAR 4s and stunning views PAR 3s. Unfortunately the greens are in very bad shape.
Great course
Really glad this course is back on GolfNow. It is an excellent course and was in super shape today. Golfers need to fix their divots on the greens. Fairways were in incredible shape! Great course!
Great course
Awesome course everything was in great condition. Highly recommend anyone to play here. If you slice like me bring extra balls its a difficult course.
Great day on the links
Greens were fast, fair ways were in great shape rough was as thick as I’ve ever seen good luck trying to find your ball . Great course. I will certainly be back
Beautiful layout!
Played here early Sep. 21' for a golf trip of 3 days with 20 people. The course was in incredible condition. Everyone is very kind and helpful, groundskeeping staff cut new holes each day. The scenery on the 18th tee is beautiful with the large farmhouse off to the right coming back in. I can't wait to play again this year!
Beautiful layout !
Great times here . Beautiful layout . The staff are very friendly and the course is a treat . Great fairways and tee boxes with the zoysia. The greens are really good as well . Will definitely be back !!!
Need a great experience
Unfortunately, my group did not have a great experience at this course and it was one of the most unpleasant rounds we have had in a long time. First, when we asked about the poor course conditions we were told that there was significant rain several days prior to our round so the maintenance crew was unable to go out and rake the bunkers or cut the tee boxes (that felt like playing from the rough). While I understand that rain may impact the ability for the grounds crew to go out, we played a course the day prior that experience similar rain but they had their crews out fixing the bunkers and that course was in significantly better shape (and only cost $10 more to play). So, I think the issue is they do not have the proper staff to maintain the course, which was apparent when we noticed that the water was not refilled in any of the water stations on the course, during a day where the heat index reached upper 90's. Second, we were late going off and had to endure a brutal 5+ hour rounds as there was a 3-some 2 groups ahead of us that was brutally slow. For example, we saw them go to their Tee shots on 8 while we were teeing off on 7. The green was clear on 8 and we hit our shots before they got out of they even swung the club and we were able to finish the par 3 7th, after looking for a lost ball, and we still had to wait to tee off as they were not off the green on 8 by the time we reached 8 tee box. When we called the pro shop to inform them about the slow play they told us there was a ranger out on the course (we never saw one) and they were only 10+ minutes off pace. At the turn we mentioned the slow play and were told by the pro staff that the group informed them they were waiting to hit shots on 9, but when we saw them approaching 12 while we were going to 11 we noticed that the group on 12 green had already left before we left 10 green. So, they were already 1+ holes behind on 12 and probably 2+ holes behind as the round progressed. So given the course conditions and slow rate of play, I would look into some of the other courses in the area.
