The Rookery South

You wouldn't pay $75 to play this course at home, but you're at the shore where everything is more expensive. The course has a few argues about it: a short par four that requires a seven iron off the tee, three par fives and three par threes on the back nine, one part for dogs like it doesn't quite work because trees block half the green. But by and large, this is a well laid out well-maintained course thatdoesn't cost an arm and a leg to play.

Packed house but pace of play great. Got hooked up with the best group of guys & had a great round.

The course had some interesting holes. The greens were in very good condition. Tee boxes ok. Fairways ok to good. I would definitely go back and play again.

Really a good time. Course was in very good condition even after 3” of rain the night before. Staff was great and very helpful. Round was a little slow but that will happen with a mix of walkers and riders. Still got 18 i holes in four hours and 15 min.

We showed up an hour early to lunch in the restaurant and the staff walked past us multiple times as if we were not there. Finally had to ask for service. The food was good ample portions but when finished again had to stand up and wave to get our bill. The gentleman in the pro shop was less than friendly and borderline rude. Once we began play it was a wait at every hole. Nice course and may play again in off season to see if better. Definitely will hit a drive thru before eating at the restaurant again.

Since it was my 1st time I wished there would be alittle more friendliness at the check in counter. The starter was really nice….the guy behind the counter said carts over there, card in it…that was it

I'm in the area on vacation.. I liked the course. I play the senior tees and it was not overly long and very playable. A couple of tricked up holes. I think it's #4. Only about 130 yards to a lake or over 200 to carry the lake. Short iron off the tee. Par 3's were good. 5 of them from 95 yards to 180. Some crossover with other players hitting into our fairway and a couple of shots from our group going into other fairways. Played with 3 local guys. Very friendly. Between 9's they have a tent set up for refreshments so you don't have to go into the clubhouse to get something to eat or drink. Saw cart girl 3 or 4 times. Overall, enjoyed the day. Will probably play it once more before I head home.

Rookery is one of my favorite courses…been playing there for almost 20 years.

Have played the Rookery a few times over the past several years - now a full time DE resident and plan to play 2-3 times a month!

Staff was very friendly. Course conditions were fantastic; greens a little slow but rolled well. Pace of play was slow but ranger moved the group in front of us up at the turn.

The pro shop is small but there are some amenities like the driving range.

Course layout has some interesting aspects; front nine has short par 4’s that are risk reward. Back 9 is longer with a more straight ahead layout. No elevation changes.

This is a solid course and worth a look.

Really enjoyed this course. Played with a few local members that were a joy to be with. Corse was in great shape and pace was better than most. Only thing I would comment on was there were no yardage markers on the tees and just the standard 200, 150 and 100 in the fairway. Not being familiar it was hard to know accurate yardages. Other than that it was awesome.
