Nursery Golf and Country Club
About
Situated north of Lacombe, Nursery Golf & Country Club is conveniently located just off of Hwy 2 between Edmonton and Calgary. It lies just east of the Canadian Rockies. The course appeals to players of all skill levels, from beginners to pros, thanks to a diverse range of holes. You'll have to contend with tricky doglegs and tree-lined fairways as well as several different water hazards, including a stream that cuts across the entire golf course. The layout crosses over the stream several times, connected by scenic wooden bridges. The tranquil setting of the golf course is ideal for a round of golf. Nursery Golf & Country Club finishes with a tough par 5. There is trouble nearly everywhere you turn on this hole with tall poplars lining the fairways and a sloped green. If you're even slightly right of the fairway you'll be punished with a blind second shot.

Winter kill
Save your money! The greens are so burnt and pocked with winter kill I can't see it improving all season. Other than that bring your manage meant game because every hole require some sort of lay up around a dog leg and multiple creeks. It's hard to guess the right yardage, laying up 200 yards on a 579 par five? Meh!
Gem
Great course, a bit hidden which makes for a pleasant surprise!
Nice, challenging
Nice course off the beaten track in well-maintained condition. Back nine seems little newer with a slightly more interesting and challenging layout, with big undulating greens and several water crossings, and a monster par 6. Very friendly staff and good price. We rode but very walkable.
Nice course
Very good shape and a good challenge . Lots of doglegs and hazards running through the course which make you really think about your shots. Was a lot of fun and I will go again. Really enjoyed this course
Second rate design
Tee boxes require a jack hammer to insert tee, design is Mickey Mouse, turf is hard ,rough is too long in many places
Somewhat challenging
The greens were in great shape even though it was fairly wet. The greens were large but what made it interesting is the greens were not flat. Made the putting more challenging. The back nine was more challenging then the front due to water hazards and the challenge to use the right irons and woods for the situation.
Nice greens
Greens were in great shape, fairways good shape and tee boxes not the greatest. Overall good bang for your buck. Biggest downside is lots of blind obstructions in the fairways. Scorecards or tee boxes should have indications as to where fairway creeks etc are. If I was to play again I would think a guy could easily knock off 8-10 strokes. First timers play it safe
Hit the target
Lots of hidden difficulties so important to hit your target and to know when to take risks.
Great course
One of my favourite places to golf. I would recommend it to play. Would be nice if they had a clubhouse.
A very challenging and enjoyable course.
You will find the back nine particularly challenging. Hitting a straight ball the right distance is a must to avoid the hazards.
Trees Everywhere Cause Lost Balls
Looks easy plays tough, lots of left and right dog legs. Look out for driving through the fairways into the trees. Try the black tees if you think you are really good.
Course in good shape
My Sky Caddie never works on this course, although other devices seem to work. This course is listed on the Sky Caddie web page but will not work when at the course. Not happy with that.
Cold and rainy, still worth the trip. Look forward to going back!
Fun little track, another under-rated Alberta course. Most holes give you the option to use anything from driver to 4 iron to tee off with. Placement is paramount, plethora dog-legs - recommend knowing distances to the corners of them. The par 5's are awesome and you can play the longest hole in the country, a firm test even as a par 6. The par 3's offer a nice variety.
Course in good shape. Lacking bunkers
I played the nursery twice in the past week. It's in good shape, and greens have sped up a little since last week. Course was not busy in the afternoon, finished 18 under 4 hours with a 4some. The only downside to this course is its lack of bunkers
2015 Season
It's very apparent that a lot of work has gone into the course this year. It's playing absolutely amazing for late spring. Of all the rounds I have played this spring around central Alberta, The Nursery was in the best shape and was the most enjoyable round. As far as the 2 Lacombe courses go, The Nursery is the clear hands down winner. It's more cost effective and less busy. 5/5! Can't wait to play it in July.
good value
good value for spring tune up ,big greens ,fairways need work ,cart paths are gravel and rough course needs to mature maybe in a few year with upgrades it will be a good course for the money asked for green fees
narrow fairways
Had to keep the driver in the bag on a lot of holes, even par fives. Some fairways were to narrow.staff were not that friendly.
The course was beautiful everywhere!!
We were 4 - the course was challenging for us but well worth the challenge. The greens couldn't have been more beautiful. Although it does not have sandtraps, (thank goodness), it did have water in very strategic places. Definitely be looking to play there again next year!
thumbs up
A small town course in great shape.
I'd played here 5 years ago and hadn't thought much of it.
This time was different.
The large undulating greens were in perfect condition. The rest of the course is short and often narrow generally requiring precision tee shots.
I'm not a long hitter but still only used my driver 5 times.
We were a little slow because misdirected shots were hard to find in some spots.
Hidden Gem
The Nursery is only a few miles off of the Number 2 Highway.
It is easy to find and is on paved roads all the way to the gates.
It is secluded and the scenery is outstanding. The course is in great shape. (must have an awesome superintendent). The greens were smooth, fast and true. Great for late fall.
Some great forced carries over water and rough.
yes greens are a bit rough right now but already showing improvement after a particularly tough winter. However;they will be back to good early season shape in a couple weeks. No need to worry just a slow start with the hot, dry, windy weather we have been having. little water and love and they will be as good as normal
