Nice day out but...
They shouldnt put 2 players in one cart separated by some plexiglass. Each player should have their own.
Not having real holes but just ‘hitting the hole‘ changes the game. (The cup is lifted out of the hole).
Not going back. Sorry.
Great course BUT no power carts go out after 3pm
Got caught with a tee time just after 3 pm cart cutoff and even a sore foot would not allow a power golf cart exception, one senior in our party actually had her cart mistakenly given out was taken back, she quit and got refunded (I did not reserve the cart and i was offered a green fee refund) . Otherwise great golf course very well kept fairways, bunkers, water and good greens even if i had to limp 6000 plus yards. So, confirm ahead or start before 3 if you don't want to walk (or limp ;-) . May 15 2020.
All good, except the greens.
Everything was fine - course layout, pace of play, and overall conditions. However, the greens bring my rating down considerably. They were sooo slow, and they have extended the PVC of the hole about 2” above the green. Every other course I’ve played in the Lower Mainland has developed a Covid-friendly solution while allowing the ball to - at the very least - hit the pin and bounce out. Most courses allow the ball to drop 3/4” into the hole. Until they improve their greens I will not be back.
Golfing during Covid
This is a solid course. The layout is nice where you have some easy straight forward holes but also some that you have to think about more than just distance. Overall course was in good condition, although there were definitely some spots on the fairways that you needed to take relief from. If you played this course during or just after a wet stretch, I could see it being very soft and soggy. I would definitely play again, especially on a hot deal.
It was so good to play golf.
Amount, weather, golf field condition, everything was so good.
Great long course
Enjoyed this course. Great value greens and course were in great condition.
Really good course
I really like this course. They have the best deals available on golf now and even regular priced tee times are reasonable. I've been coming here for over a year and while they won't be hosting any PGA tour events any time soon it still presents a good challenge for the casual golfer. A few narrow fairways, a few blind tee shots. Course management will be important. You can't just pull driver on every par 4.
Some of their tee boxes could be improved. Frustrating when you can't find a place to tee up without your foot in a divot. I've had a few balls blast through their practice nets down to the hole below which can be dangerous if someone is standing there. So might wanna keep on top of that.
Pace of play (at least for me) is never too bad but there's been a few times where a roaming Marshall could have come in handy but I never see one.
Fairways and greens are good shape, no issues there. As are the bunkers.
And their restaurant on Friday night might just have the best Prime rib buffet I've ever seen.
To sum up, while there aren't really any holes that are breathtaking, it's a nice course that's in good shape and you will have fun. And for what you pay you have no reason to complain about anything. It's not like they're charging $70 a tee time so don't expect that kind of course value where it looks like every blade of grass has been manicured with a nail clipper. It's worth exactly what they are charging. Very fair. I like it, and unless they let the course fall apart I'll continue to be a regular.
Great course but can play really slow when busy
Good course, friendly staff. They had marshal’s out ensuring speedy play but when the course is booked solid, it takes a long time to play. Also, because of COVID they have raised cups. Would be nice to be able to putt the ball into the hole so it’s more enjoyable to play.
Poor customer service.
The manager in the proshop needs to be let go. He is bringing a bad name to the course. After going there and him rummaging through my bags looking for alcohol (which there was none) my personal space feels violated. The tee times were only 7 minutes apart, greens punched, cups above the hole. After 50 minutes to get through 2 holes we gave up and asked for a raincheck to no avail. I do not recommend this course to anyone.
You get what you pay for
The course has the potential to be a nice little track but the conditions are honestly terrible.
The greens are in really bad shape and the course is overall short and very easy. Lots of other nice courses in langley to play.
I can’t agree the idea of blocking all the cups on every greens, hearing the ball drop inside the cup is half of the fun! If you’re afraid of the pandemic you could check everybody’s temperature before you let them go onto the course on give them some wipes and trust the golfers to clean the flag pole after used.?
Spring Golf in BC
Course was in good shape for this time of year. Would recommend that they have more hole signage .
Only 5 holes open
Should probably post somewhere that the course only has 5 holes open
Thank you for the wash bucket
I played Newlands the other day and like every other course in the area, it was a little muddy due to the time of year. I was really impressed to find a bucket of hot soapy water waiting for players when they finished their round. I was able ho clean up without making a mess of the car. Thank you - a very nice touch!
This is my home course. I practice here a lot as this course is a great value, has some really tough holes and allows for all types of play. Really good for a beginner.
Newlands Value
Great value, fun and challenging. Decent conditions, punched a week or so ago, will recover in the next few weeks
Great fast pace of play
