Course knowledge an asset
First time playing fortunately we were paired with two guys who had played there. Several blind landing spots and holes where one needed to lay up. Score card was no help. Fairways were very hard, for early season. Sand traps and there were many were hard and shallow sand. Greens were fuzzy. All in all a course that makes up for distance with lots of hazards.
Nice course
Love this course challenging and fun to play..very nice surroundings
eagle up
play here regularly ..reasonable price and to be able to ride has spoiled the nice walk . Greens are a bit slow but course is running out and is in great shape. go go go
OK Course offers Great Value in the GVA
The course offers a moderate challenge for a very good price. In season courses can get pricey in the GVA Newlands is very affordable year round.
If you like or need to ride then it's fantastic value. Carts are only $5/rider when many courses in the area charge $30-$40 just for the cart.
Greens can be a bit bumpy and fairways a bit dry depending on the day and time of year but playable.
A few holes require a good tee ball and a few are grip it and rip it.
Appies after golf are excellent and offered at 1/2 Price with a golf receipt.
If you are looking for challenging golf and good conditions not the course for you but if you're looking for an affordable round give it a try.
Good early in season round
Booked our tee-time as a GolfNow hotdeal, so was very reasonable. The bonus was the weather was nice plus the course was in quite decent condition for early in the season.
same old
Course in very good shape, greens as fast as ever, good pace and well priced including cart. Difficult finishing holes .
Scruffy course shoehorned into a small space
I was told the greens had been aerated two weeks ago, but they were still extremely bumpy. The fairways and rough were patchy, but the bunkers had plenty of nice sand (although folks often seemed to leave them unraked).
This is the kind of course that doesn't really fit in the spot it's in. There are several odd sharp doglegs with tall trees off the tee blocking you from cutting the corner, so hybrid/short iron is often the play. Several holes require you to hit past a corner, but too much farther and you're in the trees, so distance control on the tee shots is important. Some players may be tempted to hit extreme hooks or slices into blind landing areas, but that's quite a risk. Play the course how it's meant to be played and it's pretty fun -- there are a few longer holes, and the greens have interesting contours.
The folks I met there were friendly, but players hitting into trees and searching for balls made the round a bit longer than average. There are also several spots where people are teeing off near paths to other holes, so keep your eyes peeled to avoid being a target!
The course is fairly pretty, but has houses along some fairways. I spotted a bald eagle near its nest, which was nice.
First really nice day this year to play golf. Was very busy for a Monday. The pace was very slow. Almost five hours to play. The greens were recently punched. It was still a nice day to play golf. $20 to walk on Golf Now. You can play for $25 including a cart through pro shop. Not a great deal on Golf Now.
Newlands Shines Again!
Great weather - wish I had of known that the greens were punched... Oh well - was very nice anyways.
punching greens
The good: the course was much dryer than I expected given all the precip we've had over the past month.
The bad: they were in the process of aerating and it felt like they were following me around.
target golf at its best, bumpy greens after frost (Feb. !!!) Beautiful sunny day
geegeegee
greens were in great shape (nobody playing), great maintenance crew , had a whole in one on the 8th hole so all was right ...no tolls on bridge whoooo
Beautiful day - terrible pace of play
I was so excited to play a round on a beautiful fall day. Golf on the last day of October in weather where my playing partners were in shorts. However, the pace of play at this modest course was the worst I have experienced in many years! It took us over 4 hours and 45 mins to play 16 holes at which time I left because I was not going to finish 18 before it got dark and trick or treaters would be at my doorstep. My playing partners who are frequent golfers quit after 10 holes because all the waiting on every shot and every tee box! It took us 40 mins to play the first 2 holes - a par 5 and par 3! Never again. No course marshal - no help or assistance for those out on the course. They need to seriously up their customer service before I will spend my hard earned money playing this course.
Beautiful day
Great day to play golf. If I only could have hit the ball better. The course was in good shape with fast greens.Good playing pace.
Great Value!
26$ and carts are only 11$ more. Better condition than NorthView (Not by much...)
Enjoy!
Newlands Is a GREAT Value
good value course for the weekend warrior! Watch out for too much rain though - this track gets really muddy quickly. Decent layout, some quirky holes. I like it - I hope you do too.
youre playing in march when its still winter conditions.... not sure why you are expecting summer conditions.
