Too dry and too slow
Newlands is usually a fine course, but with all the drought this year, it's pretty dry and chaffed in lots of places. Hitting off of dead grass or bare, dry dirt is not fun. For the money, it could be better. Great greens though.
Really slow play the last 2 days, taking almost 5 hours for a foursome to get through.
Pace of Play Way 2 Slow
Pace of play way to slow. Took over 5 hours to play a course that should play in 3&1/4 hours. Their teeing groups of 4 off every 71/2 minutes
the marshal has no idea with his responsibility is
course is pretty good but pace of game is sooooo slow, and it took more than 5 hours. In front of my team, there were 4 player when they tee off, but just after first hole, they seperate to 2 teams (2 players in each team), and made pace so slow. The Marshal saw that situation but mention nothing about it, eventhough there were so many people is waiting. This is just one example for slow pace, and the marshal did nothing, even there were many actions that he could do. Also some of holes are little bit dangerous, as they have many blind spots on course
Good value for the money,again
This is one of the best value for the money, will play more often. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Good coffee.

Inconsistent but good value
You get what you pay for here. Half the tee boxes are destroyed but the other half are in great shape. Some sand hard as concrete others are nice and fluffy. Some very odd hole designs on this course and its a little confusing getting around. On the plus side I enjoyed more than half of the holes on this course. Great weather for the day and the price with cart is the exact value that will keep people coming back.
This course has some challenging holes to play
The layout is reasonable in most cases while some holes are challenging. It may be uneasy for first time players who are not familiar with it. Definitely a golf course for lower handicap.
still early the course was abit wet but it was a good day to play golf
Next time the weather will be better!
The course was very wet, it had been raining for a couple of weeks....so understandable. It rained on us again but we persevered to the end of 18 holes and weren't completely soaked. I know the course will be much better once it's dried out and the sun is out. I will play there again especially if Golfnow keeps getting that great rate! Thanks.
Good shape
We have had a ton of rain, but the course was in pretty good shape. Got paired up with some really good guys.
I like this course a lot, but the grounds have been mushy and wet from all the rain. The greens are coming along nicely and with a little drying time, the course will be back to normal and a great little course to play.
Ever heard of a Marshall?
Course was super wet , but understandable considering the recent month of rain. 1 hour for the first 3 holes and 5.5 hours overall is completely unacceptable especially for a course that is only 6100 yards. No marshalls anywhere and players clearly drinking heavily with outside booze as there was no on course service yet. A Marshall would have spotted this. May go back again but not until it dries up. Pleasant pro shop staff and the greens were pretty good.
Plugfest
We have had a lot of rain lately so was expecting some wet conditions. This was the 2nd dry day in a row, but this course needs a least a week of none rain. We were losing balls in mid fairway. Lots of plugging and absolutely no tool. Greens were pretty good shape considering our unusually harsh winter. Price was right $27 with cart
Great price but very poor drainage
I've played here several times but unfortunately a 4:40 hour round and a swamp this time. Made up for it sort of by paying basically $1 per hole.
I like the blend of short holes but they are very tight.
Winter golf
For this time of year and recent weather condition the course was in great shape. Had a great day with my wife Christine and playing buddy's Gary and Tim
Newlands Golf
Very reasonable rates, and a course for everyone.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Not my favorite course, but a great price
This course entertains a lot of not too serious golfers. There are always multiple dimples in the greens that haven't been fixed. There is rarely sand to repair divots at the tees or anywhere else. Our tee time was 2:20--few people around this time of year. We played the day after a horrendous rain and we were pleasantly surprised. (All the sand traps were ground under repair). The course was in better shape than we expected. All in, we had a great time!
