Guildford Golf and Country Club
About
Guildford Golf & Country Club has long been known as one of the finest courses British Columbia has to offer. The golf course is located in Surrey, just across the U.S. border from Washington and less than 40 minutes from Vancouver. The scenic layout has fairways lined with mature trees and the greens are large and undulating. There are also creeks that weave across the golf course and numerous lakes that come into play. The layout has a classic design that still provides a challenge for all skill levels. Golfers are put to the test right away on the first two holes, a par 4 and a par 3 respectively, which require good course management and thoughtful decision making. Guilford's standout hole though, is the signature 16th. This tough par 3 is modeled after the notorious 12th hole at Augusta National, complete with a stone bridge and water hazard that encircles almost the entire green.

Good enough for close to home
Guilford Golf club is easily accessible, has a good layout, some nice challenges, ever changing pin locations, and most of the time tee-offs are on schedule.
For $70+, I am disappointed that most tee boxes are lumpy, strangely uneven, and some are hard as a rock to get your tee in. Like most weekends, pace of play is slow, too slow and the Marshall doesn’t seem to push those super slow groups to move along.
Overall, I enjoy coming here, but I wish the tee box conditions and pace of play were better controlled.
Overrated
The greens and tee boxes were in great shape, and that's the only nice thing I have to say about course conditions. The fairways feel like bumpy clay and the rough is mostly weeds growing out of some sort of hard packed desert soil. Did not make for an enjoyable round.
extremely slow
There happened to be a tournament earlier in the day before we teed off. All the groups around us teed off 30 mins after our scheduled time. We played for over 5 hours and only got 14 holes.
Great course
Played Guildford for the first time and was a great experience. Tricky greens and watch out for the power lines. Hit one of the first hole :). Would recommend.
Friendly staff
Pace was slow as there had been a tournament earlier that day.
Slow play
Our tee time was around 3 pm. After our first hole the Marshall advised there is a tournament ahead of us and it is very slow play to the point it will take 5 hours for the round. We were on hole 13 and it was 4 1/2 hours in. We ended up leaving after hole 13 as it was still very slow.
In future I suggest when we check in they mention the slow play and it make the tournament play proactive .
Overall the pace of play was unacceptable.
Tee boxes are horrible. Pace of play (5h 10min round)
Course is long, and challenging. Good layout. Greens are better than good. Poor food choices and staff not too friendly. Drink cart was going around, that's a plus but tee boxes were just bad. They should have repaired them earlier before season started. Price was too much for what they offered.
