Knollwood Golf Club - Old
About
Knollwood Golf Club is home to two 18-hole courses, the Old and the New. The golf courses were built nearly 20 years apart. Opened in 1970, the Old Course is spread across beautiful parkland that is covered in trees. The layout is more traditional and less challenging than the other course at Knollwood Golf Club, but it is still an entertaining round. The main priority in creating the golf course was to not only maintain the natural features of the terrain, but also enhance it. Thousands of trees were planted in addition to those already present throughout the golf course. The result is a unique course that players of all skill levels will enjoy.

A fun day of golf.
A pretty and fairly easy track. No bunkers and a few water hazards make this shorter course a fast and fun place to play.
Beautiful course, a little worn down
If you’re looking for a beautiful tree backdrop, then this is the place to come. But if you like clearly marked tee boxes, bunkers or food/drink then look elsewhere. There are no tee blocks so it’s anyone’s guess, no beverage cart and at the turn they had ran out of sandwiches or other food (we tee’d off at 11am on a Sunday).
Not using tee markers
One of the “pandemic precautions” at the Old course (apparently same at New course) is the lack of tee boxes on the teeing grounds (tee decks). This may work for “regulars” but it was confusing for “non-regulars” - in our foursome we needed 3 “middle tees”, but also needed one “forward tee”. Difficulty is compounded by a lack of yardage stones on the tee decks. We were left to estimate on every hole. Not sure how much of a “touch point” tee markers are...?
Consistently Decent
Knollwood both new and old are consistent tracks with decent fairways and greens. Important to slow it down on the greens at this time of year, especially in the afternoon. Easy to recommend Knollwood anytime!
!
I booked a round for Father's Day for my dad, myself, and my fiance based on fond memories I have from playing here a few years ago. I won't be back.
1) Many greens were hard dirt with patches of grass here and there.
2) Not a single set of tee blocks on the entire course. Placing your tee was just a freeforall.
3) Ladies tees were almost non-existent. My fiance had to find whatever reasonably flat surface she could to serve as one on most holes.
4) One marshall, sharing a cart with a woman, was on us like a hawk to keep the plastic sheet divider down between us, even though we live together. He swooped back in a second time, narrowly avoiding running over my ball, to check on it. I get it, that's your policy...BUT HE HAD NO DIVIDER IN HIS CART!!!
Overall, the place was in rough condition. I've golfed at a dozen other post-COVID courses, and they were all in much better shape. Now all I have are the memories of its glory days gone by!
Nice Scenic Course
The course layout is fun to play and is in a very beautiful place. Greens have lots of slopes so difficult putting. Only complain would be the tee boxes need some maintenance and don’t actually have the different coloured blocks at each tee box.
Oldie and Goodie
Old Knollwood team did excellent job of keeping everyone safe from Covid 19.
Great scenery
Nestled in a wooded area and is calming. Not to much trouble except for one hole where it was tight. Enjoyed playing and will do so in the future
Value Course
Course played fairly well. Pace of play was good for the weather. Tee boxes were lumpy, uneven, unmarked, and hard. Greens were in great shape and rolling true but cut way too long. Overall decent value.
