Knollwood Golf Club - Old
About
Knollwood Golf Club is home to two 18-hole courses, the Old and the New. The golf courses were built nearly 20 years apart. Opened in 1970, the Old Course is spread across beautiful parkland that is covered in trees. The layout is more traditional and less challenging than the other course at Knollwood Golf Club, but it is still an entertaining round. The main priority in creating the golf course was to not only maintain the natural features of the terrain, but also enhance it. Thousands of trees were planted in addition to those already present throughout the golf course. The result is a unique course that players of all skill levels will enjoy.

Not Awesome
The price was good the course was ok. The course does not drain well on the fairways and "cartpaths" . Greens were in good condition.
Also would have been nice to know it was cartpath only before booking probably would have gone somewhere else.
Should Not Be Open
I can’t even count how many times I’ve played this course. It’s a fun short track for all. But they have absolutely zero business being open right now. Respectfully, I just wasted $50+ dollars visiting at this time of year.
Especially with all of the rain coming up soon, they should do the right thing and close the doors. Bird bath is the fairway and fairway for greens isn’t exactly a good look.
All that said, when this course dries out, I highly recommend. Great course and amazing staff all around!
Plays Short, No Bunkers
We had an early morning round after a serious storm which wasn’t partly to blame but the course was really soggy. Even had a hole closed entirely. Couple really short 4’s they used to stretch to 72 instead of a 70 I think and not a single bunker on the entire course! I imagine it’s much more enjoyable in July.
Hey there - Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!

Great course ..got out earlier than booked time..great staff!
Wet and shouldn’t be open
I have played this course dozens of times over many years and have never seen such poor maintenance
Obviously the weather has kept them off the course
Rough hasn’t been touched and was like hitting out of a hay swamp
Greens were so slow
Normally a great track with some thinking required but currently in terrible shape
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
They open way too early
This course and their new course opened way too early this year in 2019 and it feels like its out of pure greed.
I went out yesterday with a buddy and it was their first day open. I could see it was still visibly more wet before even teeing off than the other course I played a day before it was.
We got out there and could barley ride our cart through the cart path it was so soft and wet....never mind actually playing golf from the grass. Feet submerged in water alot. Walked off on hole 4.
Went back into the proshop and the guy at the counter said lots of people saying the same thing, and that he doesnt know why they always open too early. Gave me a rain check and we went to another course.
Wait until June to play this one.........
Old Course looking old
Always enjoy Knollwood Old Course. Easy on the ego for short hitters because it is below average length. Layout is fun and scenic. The main concern was the amount of damage to greens, like a threadbare rugs with some damage. My playing partner declared damaged areas of greens as ground under repair and moved ball accordingly before putting. Greens need to be repaired for next season.
Fast greens
Very friendly staff , started on time with no rushing at all. Well kept fairways and greens, forgiving rough only lost 1 ball .Windy conditions as storm was coming made some shots a little more tricky. Perfect course for me as it is so close . Met old work friends and would defenetly come back before end of season.
Knollwood Old Course
This is a terrific course with enough challenges to suit everyone. Not overly long, not overly easy. Also very scenic as the trees have matured well over the years.
Hidden Gem
This golf course offers spectacular views, is well maintained, and will challenge your golf game. Lots of intricate shots and a truly great experience. A+
Course in poor shape
The course is in pretty bad shape. Very dry with lots of dead grass on the fairways. I used to play this course alot 10 years ago and it was always in fantastic condition. It was pretty dissapointing to see it like It was today.
Very short course.
This is a great course for a relaxed game of golf. It is a shorter course that suits women golfers very well and it is well shaded for a hot day. Food is good and the patio is lovely. Enjoy!
This is where you go to feel good about yourself
Nice setting in heavily wooded area of Ancaster, extreamly short, lots of drivable par 4 greens! Fairways need work, greens were beautiful and rolled true. Nice track for women or beginners! Can't break 100?? Congratulations you just did, play this track.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Knollwood Golf Club - Old. We hope to see you again in the future.
