Horseshoe Resort - Valley
About
The Valley Course is a heavily forested golf course is the original layout at the club. The course is unique in that it has relatively short yardages rated with such high slopes mainly due to the tight fairways and numerous elevation changes. The driver will most likely stay in your bag while the long irons will be used often. The golf course is very tight, offering an ideal place to get some practice with irons. It is also provides an ideal warm-up round for the more difficult course at the Horseshoe Resort, the Highlands Course.

Nice Target course
Nice target course. Play smart and you will score well. Green are nice and were running +/- 8.5 to 9. Greens are typical of any mountain course. First hole is a par 3 which is bit strange. I would recomrnend this course. Long hitters, play smart as several par 5 are very narrow and look intimidating.
Frost Warning
We had 9:30am teeoff on the valley course. We were delayed 1 hr due to a frost warning in the area so didn't tee up until 10:30am. Valley course is in great shape. I found it to be very challenging, don't let the course yardage fool you (from the whites I believe it's 5400 yards). Course requires you to be very accurate. Not a very forgiving course as balls to the left or right are gone as the course is very tree lined and narrow. Overall a great experience
Tougher Than You Think
Fairways are very tight . Don't let the short yardage fool you. You may want to leave the driver in the bag for most of the day if you want to score well.
Enjoyable day
The course was in good shape. It played a bit short for those who aren't long off the tee. Some fairways are narrow . Target golf on a few holes. It was fun and reasonably priced.
Beautiful Scenery
Horseshoe Resort's Valley Course may be short in overall distance but still offers several long par 5's. You will be challenged by the narrow fairways on almost every hole. The course is in very good condition with soft greens. Many holes offer amazing views throughout the valley. Playing in late September should offer some very colourful scenery.
A GPS is now provided on your cart & newcomer's to the course are provided with a course tips booklet. Pleasant overall service!
A very challenging extremely tight course.
A very challenging extremely tight course. Need to be very straight on most holes. Highland course on same property might be a better choice. Carts could use an update. Mounted handheld GPS stopped working early in the round. Restaurant "very" expensive, $16 for a hamburg & fries. 20 oz draft (domestic) $6.50. Friendly course attendants.
Challenge and Beauty All-in-One
It is a very picturesque setting in Horseshoe Valley at Horseshoe Resort. The fairways for the most part are narrow and treelined so a straight tee shot is essential. There is a fair amount of water on the course and quite a few holes have bunkers directly in front of the greens. The greens are challenging.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Nice layout and interesting to play.
Not overly long but challenging enough. Premium on straight as fairways not real wide. Our group would play it again. The only negative would be the bunkers. They looked good but in fact had a very thin amount of sand.
Challenging but nice course for beginners!
The staff was accomadating. We were there 30 minutes beforehand and the staff provided us with an option to start earlier!
The course was challenging for us as we were beginners. Most holes were protected by at least one bunker/ sand trap. Water hazards were present but limited to a few holes.
Some sand traps were wet as a result of prior days rain. As beginners, we were able to finish the course (full 18) in under 4 hours (with cart). The course marshal did come by once on the first hole.
Good course but slow play
Horseshoe highlands was a good course in great condition. I've played here a few times and have always had as great time. Staff is helpful and beverage cart comes around regularly. Only downfall I had when playing this course is the rate of speed that other individuals were playing. It makes you bored and anxious to shoot your next shot. Ranger or something needed to maybe regulate this. All in all. Great golf experience though. I will go back.
Course in great shape..
Keeping the ball straight is a must.
Only two holes are side by side, otherwise golf in a forest.
Fair Test
course was in terrific condition and was a fair test for the 15 to 25 handicapper
Very challenging but enjoyable
Great course not too long but choose your clubs well.
what it needs
The drink service at Horseshoe was great, friendly and attentive staff but it lacks washrooms on the course.
Beautiful course
Very nice course has lots of bunckers. The course was very busy but we got through it in about 4.5 hours Will go back.
Tough but fair
I suppose if I'd paid more attention to the booklet that gives tips on how to play the holes I could have avoided some of the problems I found for myself - if I were the kind of golfer who could actually hit it where he intends to. Positioning is key on this course, and that is punishing for those of us who don't generally play that way. The greens are very difficult to read, but I'm sure playing it for something other than the first time could help remedy that. Very pretty and well-maintained, the course was enjoyable to play, though I did some grumbling about the long par 3s - mind you, par 3s have always been my nemesis.
FAST GREENS
With all the rain we have had the greens and fairways are in great shape. The greens must have just been cut ,they were fast. But the best part about this valley course is that almost each hole you feel like your out thier by yourself with all the trees. Its not all jammed in thier together.
Beautiful course
Haven't played here for a number of years and was happy to see the course not only as good as it used to be ,but even better. From being met in the parking lot with a cart, through the pro shop and starter it was a great experience. Course was in excellent shape and the price on a hot deal was super.
Great Value … Tight course
Horseshoe Highlands is a challenging test of golf. Your drives BETTER be accurate … your approach shots accurate and your putter better be working … in order to score well. The greens are 'tiny' … they have plenty of slope and break so you'll need to lag putt most of them and be aggressive on those holes where you've stuck it close to the pin. The course is in excellent condition … the practice area is GREAT … with sand bunkers to use as well. All in all … while I griped about the narrow fairways … the course was a good test my skills … it was worth the drive …
Play was Very slow. No Marshalls or refreshment carts on the course.
