Glen Eagle Golf Club - Yellow/Red
About
Located just northwest of Toronto, Glen Eagle Golf Club offers three unique nines that provide three different 18-hole, championship courses. Spread across a scenic terrain of rolling hills and valleys, each course has unique vistas. The Yellow/Red golf course combines the most difficult nine with another that is considerably shorter with many opportunities for birdies. The 3,227-yard Yellow nine provides a gentle start with several short par 4s but prepare yourself for the Red, which stretches to 3,521 yards from the tips. This nine is the most difficult, demanding long drives as well as accurate tee shots. There are also large, elevated greens that are heavily contoured and surrounded by bunkers.

Nice course
Course was in great shape. The greens were fantastic
always been a good course
gleneagle always been a good course, just thought it was a little disorganised,as i got a prepaid tee time but they couldnt figure out who to put me with as i was alone, and the starter was the most unfriendly person i seen ,just so abrupt, and sounding rude, when people pay to play on any course, the staff should show how much they appreciate the golfer, not show the golfer that they are doing em a favour to play on there course,
A public course that looks and plays like a private course.
Glen Eagle has been around for around 50 years. The mature trees and undulating fairways, with many elevation changes make for many uneven lies. The course punishes you if you stray from the fairways. The trees that line most fairways often will block any attempt to reach the greens from the rough, forcing you to play back into the fairway before having a shot at the green.
The greens were lightning fast and true on the day that we played. The course was in very good shape, for the most part except for some ground under repair near the cart paths, which is not uncommon in a public course.
The pace of play was leisurely, due to late season weekday booking. We never waited more than a couple of minutes on the tees and we weren't being pushed.
As an old guy, I appreciate that.
A great deal for the money
Booked the day before and played the old 18. A great value. The greens were well cared for and FAST. The t decks although cut recently, were covered in broken tees, some decks I would say 50-60. Terrible as you need to clear the deck to avoid being distracted by them. The starter was useless. He was focused on who knows what and didnt assist in the slightest. 2 women who were to play with my son and I were 8 minutes late and were fumbling around with purses, hats etc so we went ahead of them. As a starter at one of Canada's top course, I appreciate the importance of timely play and to be ready when called to the deck. This guy wasnt focused on his job. BUT the course is generally well cared for and well worth the drive and dollar value.
good course well priced
Good course well priced, friendly staff and well maintained. Played all 9's and found them to be all equally enjoyable
Very good value for the money. Nice variety of holes across 3 nines.
Greens were in very good shape and the pace of play for my early morning round was great. Overall, a course I recommend.
Great course with enough challenge for a terrific and fun game of golf!
Love the course which was in really good condition. We had a great afternoon and would definitely come back again. We only wished that someone had told us when we started that the 'Halfway House' was not in operation so we would have have bought some lunch when the cart came around.
Thanks for a good day!
Great Value
Still best course for the price you pay. They left a lot of grass clippings on the fairways which was kind of a pain but everything else looked great. Someone give that starter a hot assistant or something. He's a little grumpy.
Excellent conditions
Course was in great shape. Rough was a little high due to recent rains, so presented a good challenge...good shots rewarded and bad shots adequately penalized but not severely so. Nice mix of shorter and longer holes with lots of elevation change. Tough course for higher handicap golfers as terrain rarely gives you a level lie.
Good pace of play at about 4 hours (foursome) even though the course looked quite full. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Marshalls were seen on the course but not in your face.
Got a great Hot Deal price, which was a bonus, but would highly recommend the course even at Golf Now's regularly featured prices at $50-60 or even the course's posted prices.
Great Course - Great Value!
Course was in great shape. Greens consistently rolled true. Fun course to play. My buddy was late on a day when course was full. Starter was very accomodating and managed to squeeze us in shortly after he arrived. Can't wait til the next time I play here!
Beautiful and challenging
Glen eagle sports a long and challenging track, with stunning veiws from the tee boxes. The greens are well maintained and provide a variety of different looks. I feel it is one of the best courses near the GTA in its price range.
This course is dynamic.
We enjoy the course very well. Want to go there again with all my friends. Good.
Great overall golf course.
Really a unique course layout. Greens were super fast, fairways were in excellent condition. Will go back again.
The course is Good. the marshal attendance was brutal.
The course was in good shape, it could use a few 'Pick me up' pointers, like ball/club washers on the carts, or ball washers that work on the T boxes. GPS should be on these carts, especially for the cost of the Green fees,
As for he Marshal's! they were horrendous, they lurked around (which most Marshals do), but in precarious locations, making us nervous. I was very concerned that they would get hit by a ball.
NOT A GOOD IDEA, MR.MARSHAL.
Slow Play
Course was in great condition but pace of play was too slow. May have just been because it was Friday before long weekend.
Not worth your time
The course was well maintained, however the front desk staff were not friendly and we didn't see a marshal until the 14th hole and we started on Sunday at 2:40! There was a foursome ahead of us sharing 3 bags of clubs... Is that allowed? Doesn't matter because there was no marshal to care about the pace of play.. Our 18 took 5+ hours because of it!!! Also, when you end on the blue 18, there are NO signs to lead you back to the clubhouse, where two cart boys laugh as they joke that many people get lost and walkers have to jump on carts of strangers to cart them back to the clubhouse or be forced to walk 9 holes back... What kind of layout is that?!?!?!
This course was a good deal on Golfnow when we played ($45 each), however the regular rate of $90+ for a round would be ridiculous to pay.
Slow round; poorly marshalled...
Took over 2 1/2 hrs to play first nine. When I approached the marshall on 12th, he said "not bad, about right...it's around the 2hr. 15 min for 9." Not quite the same when you're waiting to take every shot. When I mentioned the PGA's "Fast Play" campaign to speed up play, his response was "we're not the PGA". Completely missed the point and an asinine response, in my humble opinion.
Golf course in superb condition.
Played on July 16 when it was hot, hot, hot.
Was very impressed when Marshal brought around cold botlled water for us. It is the little thing that matters and keeps you going back.
Lots of tree lined holes
If you spray the ball, this course will challenge you. There are a lot of tree lined holes, including some blind doglegs. The rough was quite high (4-5 inches in places) and made it difficult to find the ball. I played the blue-yellow combo, and lost two balls that just missed the fairway. The greens were very nice, not too fast, but rolled true.
heavy rains early in week so traps were still a little wet but otherwise in good shape
holed out a nine iron on the eighteenth for an eagle - what a great way to finish.
