liked the course
Great scenic views, very fair tee to green, but the greens were ridiculously tough. Expect a lot of 3 putts with the possibility of several 4 putts.
Bond Head South course
Great course and fun to play . Very challenging and definitely not for novice players .
Thank you!
where were the marshalls?
Course was in very good shape. Starter was ok. He set our gps for the North course when we were playing the South. Threesome in front of us were EXTREMELY slow. They were playing the Golds then switched to Blues.Should have been playing Whites. Had to wait on every shot from 2nd tee onward. They always had a free hole in front of them. Teed off at 4pm. Finished 14th hole at 810pm at which point we encountered our first Marshall who told us we had to leave the course due to darkness. Explained to him the slow play and he just shrugged his shoulders and said what do you expect for $65. On the way in we passed all the rest of the groups still playing. I guess they paid more or were members. Very discouraging outing.

Thank you for taking time to post and we can assure you that your next visit will be more impressive. We pride ourselves on a unique layout and great conditions, but apparently we did not meet your standards of service. Please give us another chance.
Unwelcoming Members
It might seem strange that I am not recommending a course that was in great condition and has a wonderful layout, is visually appealing and is a good test of golf. There is a simple reason for this: In all my 40 years of golfing, I have never been paired with a twosome that made me feel less welcome playing "their course". They did not follow golf etiquette at all - for example: they took off in golf cart before I had teed off, placed their cart between me and hole (5 times), removed the flag when I had a blind shot, and gave incorrect "advise " on how a hole would play. You might expect this if they were new to the course or younger golfers (they were approx 60 and 30), but as they said more than a dozen times "I have been a member here for 8 years". Sadly, there are many more examples I could give of their intolerance. I looked back on my behavior last Sunday and cannot think of anything that might have caused their treatment. Other than being a first timer to the course, I can't think of anything. I love to play various courses and appreciate the access provided by GolfNow but won't be going back to Bond Head South.
We apologize, but can assure you that this is not our true standard of experience. We invite you to come back again and appreciate your kind words toward course conditioning and layout.
Very Good But......
I quite like this course - it's a good test.
Conditions were excellent except for the spike marks around most of the holes. I've never seen anything quite so apparent at a soft spike only facility. We played on a Sunday mid-day and it looked like perhaps the same pin placements may have been used on Saturday as well.
We played on a golf now "hot deal", with a further discount of $25 for our 2-some and by the time we had bought range balls ($7.50 each) the total price tag was $82.50 each, riding. Not a bad deal at all for this track but I wouldn't recommend it at the rack rate which will take you well over $100 at prime time.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and we do hope that you return to find the playing conditions have improved around the hole. Our prices were reduced for the 2015 season, to what we believe are comparable to the marketplace.
Challenging and very enjoyable.
Really enjoy playing the South course from the blues. Long par 3's and 5's, challenging par 4's. My only complaint was the pin positions coupled with slick greens were really tough on the day we played. I was paired up with another couple and they struggled on the greens, 3 and 4 putts consistently. They began to lose focus when it came to putting.
Still I had a blast and will be back.
Thank you for sharing. While we pride ourselves on excellent course conditions, it can be challenging to the beginner golf to lag putts. We do rotate the pin placements daily and suggest that you had the "tough" day pins of the rotation, which is typically once per week.
Lots of elevation changes
A challenging and very picturesque golf course. You definitely need to keep your ball in play! A links style course that demands accuracy. Between the rough and the fescu - missing the fairway can be costly! And, of ya, make sure your putter is working too - the greens will put you to the test. Overall, a fantastic day that was never boring! I'd play if again in heartbeat.
Excellent, thanks!
A great day at a great course
The forecast for the day was hot and humid with a chance of thunderstorms. Luckily, that last part didn't happen!!! We had a great day on the course. It's difficult in that you must play target golf, especially on the greens. They are very fast and undulating, so when I was on in two, I often left with a bogie.
The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were in GREAT shape. My only complaint is with the other golfers. We were fixing divots on the greens all day. Come on people, fix your divots!!!
Other than that, it was a great day. I would definitely recommend this course and I'll be golfing there again!!!
It gets better with more knowledge of the greens. Please come back and see us again.
Forced to pay full rate.
Why is Bond Head a part of Golfnow?
We booked in good faith for august 2,2015 cart and range included but were refused the range.I had to repeatedly prove to the staff that it was included the first cashier, the starter, and then a second cashier.
We were pulled off the course due to weather and received a rain check for the amount we paid less the tax and service fees and informed we could not use it for a golfnow booking and would have to use the cash value toward a full rate at Bond Head if we were to cash it in.
We apologize that your experience did not meet expectations. Based upon the value add with golf and cart, we did change to a charge for practice balls this season. We're looking at change for 2016 and your input will be considered. Thanks for wirting.
Expected more.
This was my first time playing this course and my last.
It was overall so bad I don't know where to begin.
The driving range was in terrible shape and had barely any grass to practice off of. Maybe the worst range I've ever been to. Also during our warm up the range ran out of balls.
Staff was less then friendly and helpful. I asked 2 associates does the club sell cigars from which I received an answer of no! Meanwhile, while exploring the club before my tee off I found maybe a 6ft tall humidor in the middle of the bistro upstairs where the club sells cigars. How does staff not know this is there?
We were also harassed constantly from a course Marshall. I have never been bothered so much on a golf course in my life.
As for the course It was in pretty bad unplayable shape. Greens were like putting off of marble. Just because you hit the green doesn't mean it will stop. The fairways were nice and wide with challenging elevations. I did enjoy that.
Overall the course was interesting to play but I will never return. There are far better courses for way less money.
While I was eating dinner the bar and waiter staff in one of the banquet halls (not sure which one I was in) were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was also very delicious..................
One last thing $11 Canadian beers on the course. Come on?
Thank you for your honest feedback and we do hope that you give us another chance. Typically, the majority of negative response stems from pace of play, but we're happy to see this did not have a negative affect upon your day. A Player Assistant might have the most difficult position in the golf industry based upon approaching people to let them know that they must improve their pace. We're hopeful you return and the second time is a charm.
Frustrating Greens, Forgiving Fairways
Played 2 times in 3 days as a result of a good GolfNow deal. Fairways were fairly wide and forgiving unless you were wild off the tee. Also dried out quickly after a heavy rain in the night. However greens were very tough with lots of undulations. Landing on the green even on a par 3 was no guarantee it would stick. 1 putts were the exception and often our foursome needed 3 putts. Probably added 10 strokes to our games.
Thanks for your input. typically, people enjoy the golf course on their second round. We're a little surprised that the course conditions did not meet your expectations, but we do hope to see you again and feel confident that the experience will improve.
Fast Greens
This is my 3rd time playing Bond Head (2nd on the South course). Tee boxes and greens are well kept. The greens are always fast at Bond Head which is the primary test of this course. North course has a lot of blind shots off the tee and second shots, so beware if you don't like that sort of set up. South course is slightly more open style, not a true links but considering where it is, the set up is great. Slight breezy when we played, which is ok and still manageable. Staff are friendly and food is tastey but the portions could be a little bit more. Overall this is a good course for the price ($65 golfnow), definitely recommend it.
Thank you for your positive response.
Fantastic
Great course, excellent shape, great service. No issues whatsoever on our round, perfect day!
Thank you so much for your kind posting!
poor pace but everything else within expectation
Played there two years ago for the first time and once again yesterday and noticed a big change -maintenance. I stole the comment from another gentleman who played there last month and he said "the fairways and greens are super patchy and the bunkers are an absolute disgrace with weeds growing everywhere and feet high. The length was good 7000 yards from the gold tees but even the cobblestone by the club house is coming loose and completes the "run down" feel of this place. This course has a lot of potential if taken care of but it is NOT being taken care of". I COMPLETELY agree. I was really amazed by how well this course was managed during my first time therefore. It was sad to see a course once so well managed is in the shape as it is I today. The pace was also terrible. We finished the round a little more than 5 hours and we did not even see one marshall throughout the entire round. Having said all this, I can't complain about the deal we got, $60 including range balls and cart, which is a lot cheaper than how much it was before it opened to public. This course definitely has the potential.
Thanks. We agree that your experience clearly did not meet the standard on this particular day and that we can provide you with a better experience. Please come back again.
WOW!!!
Really liked the course. Locker Room was great. Had a shower and changed my clothes after work. Felt like a country club. Course is well maintained greens are nice and slick. Weather was great. What more can ask for. Will definitely be back for another try. This time from the tips
Thank you very much! We do aim for the private club experience and clearly, we hit the mark. We look forward to having you back again. It's tough from the tips!
Disappointed
The design, greens and staff where perfect, the sand and weeds horrible. fescue to close to fairway.
Thanks for your feedback. We do have a great golf course maintenance team who pride themselves on private club conditions. Please come back and see us again... we're confident to meet your expectations.
No gimmicks but its a long course with forced carries and undulating greens.
Following a weekend with a deluge of rain, the course was cart path only which made it even longer than usual. Plus, the sand bunkers were lakes. That's too bad because the course is usually in much better shape i.e. the low ratings on the course itself were due to the soggy conditions.
The marshals were inconsistent because they warned us that they would push to make sure that everyone kept pace despite the cart path only rule. Indeed, they pushed on the front which was silly because we were done in just over 2 hours which is fast for the South Course on a good day, let alone a cart path only day. And then, there were no marshals on the back which took over 3 hours despite (a) the group ahead of us leaving a gap of at least 2 holes and on #13, we heard the group on #15 was also griping that the group in front of them also had 2 holes in front of them.
Pro shop staff, starters and halfway house were courteous, friendly and communicative, as always is the case. The beverage cart girls know golf well as they always made sure to keep inconspicuous but also nearby.
Thanks for the positives and we'll look into the lacking Player Assistant on the back nine. Late evening maybe? We look forward to seeing you again.
Great course
Great course and facility, friendly staff. Excellent course condition. Very fast greens buy receptive at the same time. Bunkers average but adequate. Overall great day
Thanks for taking the time to share.
Disappointment after high hopes
I had heard such good things about this course in the past and had always wanted to play it. I am happy I only paid $40 through golf now because I would have been upset paying regular price. It's obvious that this course used to be great however, I think it was bought by someone who doesn't care at all because the fairways and greens are super patchy and the bunkers are an absolute disgrace with weeds growing everywhere and feet high.
The length was good 7000 yards from the gold tees but even the cobblestone by the club house is coming loose and completes the "run down" feel of this place. This course has a lot of potential if taken care of but it is NOT being taken care of.
Let Down
I was all excited to play this course and let down from the first Tee. The hole are not marked bunkers looked like they have never been maintained grass growing in some of the and standing water in others. I can see why Clublink is going down hill. I would be very upset if I was a member here. I guess that's why they need to sell to Golfnow for business. We got a great deal on golf now which seemed so at the time but I wouldn't even pay half the going rate to play this course. Better courses out there.
