Burlington Springs Golf Club
About
Situated along the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, Burlington Springs Golf Club offers the most scenic and affordable round in the area. While not quite a championship layout, the golf course does feature some longer holes that play alongside dense, mature forest. There are also some interesting water elements, including an underground reservoir that feeds several ponds that come into play throughout the course. The greens are large and heavily guarded by strategically placed bunkers and while the rest of the course is relatively flat, there is some undulation in the fairways. Burlington Springs is a traditional course that is both challenging and manageable enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels.

Old Friend
I've been playing this family owned course regularly for over 40 years and consider it to be my "home" course….though I've never been a member.
The layout seems simple with open fairways and greens approachable from the air or ground, yet every hole has it's challenges. Really a fair layout, but positional play is still important. Rolling fairways and enough elevation changes to please the eye, plus some scenic views from several elevated tees.
Course upgrades have improved the experience over the last several years, so players who haven't been there in a while will find improved sand traps, fairway demarcation and overall conditioning.
Early season warm up
Conditions were better than expected considering the recent rain. Greens were on the slow side, blustery wind made the course play harder than it really is.
There was not another soul on the golf course. I thought it was good value at $28 including cart
a good walk, spoiled
It was my first visit and I was impressed. The clubhouse and pro shop staff were friendly, the price was great , and it was not crowded at all. The front nine wasn't too exciting, lots of straight fairways parallel to each other, but the back was more interesting, The whole course was in great shape and I was excited about coming back again. That all changed on the 17th where I had the misfortune of meeting an angry man(owner? manager?) who has no business working with the public. As I tried to fish out the 2 balls I had hit into the pond, he drove up in his silver SUV and told me once they went into the pond they were his and I had to move on. Now I get as frustrated as anyone when the group in front of me spends an extra long time looking for a ball, but in this case the course was half empty and the group behind us was 4 holes back. I was absolutely shocked. I skipped the last hole, returned the cart to the friendly guy in the pro shop, and left. I will definitely never go back.
BOYCOTTING THE SPRINGS
Brought my young daughter with me. Paid for the BOTH of us. BARB (the owner) wouldn't allow her on the course. Said they weren't insured. After pleeding with her to give me a raincheque for one round of golf (even though I paid for 2) she would not accommodate. I understand policies are policies, and I have no issue with them not allowing my daughter on the course. But let me come back at a later date without her for a round. What makes things even worse is that it's late in the season, and the course is usually dead. I've golfed here many times but unfortunately won't be returning. Where's the compassion? Terrible customer service. Greedy owners clearly
unknown problems
I was very disappointed to find out that the back nine was closed & we had to play the front nine twice!! If I'd known I would not have booked this course.
Fall golf at its best
Loved this course, greens were in excellent shape, since it was a cool fall day, almost had the course to myself
Will play again
Poor value- stay away.
I'm sorry but mid October golf should be basically at bargain rates in Gta. Nice course, but at $60, there are better deals out there.
Good value for area
Nice course. Not from area but have played a few courses in the Burlington area this year. Tyanadaga, Hidden Lake and Lowville. For the average to good golfer this is a fun fair course to play. Played 930 am Sunday and took 4 hrs 20 min. Pretty fair for a Sunday with nice weather. Marshalls around keeping things moving.
Nice Old Tack
Burlington Springs is a nice throw back to a bygone era of golf. The fairways are liberally wide and the sand traps only get in the way if you make a bad shot. While there is considerable rough , it's not overly rough thus the exercise of searching for a ball is well mitigated resulting in play at a decent clip. Less time looking at the ground allows plenty of time to enjoy the mature trees and pretty layout of the course. With the exception of a couple, the tee boxes are passable and the greens, for so late in the season, were fair enough as well. A most enjoyable early fall round on a perfect day. It will be trouble when more leaves fall but I wouldn't have it any other way. Delightful but not fancy. I wanna play it again NOW.
overbooked!
This course was extremely overbooked! It took 2 hours to play 6 holes. We left on the 7th hole. When you pay good money to play golf, your t-time should be protected from the 1st hole to the 18th hole. Waiting 15 minutes on each hole to t-off ruins your rythym and ruins the round.
Great Course. Horrible Pace of Play
I do enjoy playing this course alot. But the one thing I point out to others is that the pace of play is not good at all. The starter does not know how to pace the players at all. Last time I went we showed up for our 2pm tee time and the starter let 2 groups of 4 in front of my twosome. Not only that, the 2 groups were half drunk and they were late for their tee time that was suppose to be 1:30pm. Because they were late I had to suffer. I tried explaining this to the starter but he was not listening. By the 7th hole (which is right beside the club house) we demanded our money back becase it had taken over 2 hours to play 7 holes! It was as this time that another guy in the club house suggested we jump over to the 10th hole and come finish 7-9 later. Once we did, we played 10-18 in less time than it took us to play 1-7.
Overall this was horrible time management. This really put a damper on our day and felt extremely unprofessional for the amount of $$ we paid.
My suggestion is that if you want to play Burlington Springs, pick a week day and go during the off season.
Good Luck.
Good value for your money.
This course offers a nice variety of holes and is good value for the money. The greens were in fine shape and the course was well kept. Enjoyable round and would certainly come back.
Excellent value
I cut my golf teeth on this course back in the 70's and it's always good to go back now and then. Doing that it strikes me that the course is very well maintained. It seems to me the course is in better shape than I remember it. As far as play goes I also like the fact that there is a good combination of straightforward holes as well as those that require some thought. Number 9 is a good example of this. Short par four with water on the right and a group of willows guarding the green on the right side. The 150 marker is about 150 away and staring you right in the face telling you to lay up to that point. You have choices here and on may holes around the course. We had a great day.
great morning on the course
We got an amazing deal through golfnow for 18 holes. 44$ all in for 2 golfers @ 8:00am.
I've played this course many times over the last 15 years and the course was in great condition. Other than some small chunks taken out of a couple of greens (likely from an animal) it was great. We played in 3.5 hours and we had groups in front and behind with great pace. An awesome round for a course that may be in its best shape in years.
Loks like they are spending $ to change the layout with massive planting of shrubs/trees on every hole. In 5 years this course will be completly different
Great value with a little room for improvement
A decent course with a bit of space on most holes for an errant shot or two. I'd like to see some better markers for the 200 yard & 100 yard poles. The 100 yd markers were very difficult to see and the 200 yard markers weren't even there in some cases!
I'd go back and play again as this course represents great value for money.
Do Something Else
Tee boxes were aerated and mud was left to cover the entirety with no temporary place provided to hit from.
Half of the greens were cut for PGA tour standards, while the rest were almost fairway length.
Criticized by pro shop lady for arriving only 10 minutes before tee time, unaware we would be needing to provide driver's license, phone number, address, SIN number, and a copy of our last full physical in order to satisfy their insurance for cart use. We realized shortly after, this was because of the horrible condition of the carts. Presumably there have been a few past incidents...
If it was free, I would contemplate whether it was worth spending the gas to get there.
Must keep ball on fairways rough very thick, greens fast.
Course in very good shape rough tough ,they have planted over 20000 trees in past year will really make a difference in years to come this short course will play just s little harder in the future.
Springs
course is still the same layout as in the past but more water and small trees which when they mature will make this course challenging.
Fairways and greens in great shape.
Tee blocks are fairly level.
Play was very very slow. Had to wait on every hole and time to play was 5:15 hours.
Good Day
1st time playing here, the first 7 holes are hum drum, then it gets interesting, really liked the back 9. We had a slow round over 5 hours backed up from 2nd hole on. Greens had seen some use and balls were hoping and skipping, but for the most part running true. There are a lot of new trees planted and in a few years its going to make for some narrow fairways and a lot tougher on the 1st 7 holes, till then there pretty easy.
I had a similar bad experience with a female owner Barb. I won't be golfing the springs this 2015 season. Maybe I'll return next year. Too bad, because I actually really enjoyed the course.
