Friendly staff
The staff at Hidden Lake are very friendly. The course has a good layout which works well for pacing.
Pay for 18, Play 9
I've played the old course a few times. The pace is slow. IF the pace was controlled and moving, I've been able to finish 18 holes with a junior within 3 hours.
I decided to try out their new course for the first time, and it is not recommended. The group ahead of mine slowed the pace down to 20 minutes a hole. I found out that it is a regular thing in this course.
The marshals were nowhere to be seen to maintain the pace. The greens obviously had taken a beating from players not fixing their divots. While the staff at the counter were friendly and welcoming, the people who claim to be members in front of my group were definitely not. I experienced the same behavior on the old course. Not exactly sure if ridiculing non-members is an example of exemplary behavior the club represents. I paid to play 18 holes was only able to finish 9 holes because of the group in front. 2.5 hours is way too long for a relatively short easy front 9. Can't tell you about the back 9 because I couldn't get the chance to play it, but I paid for it.
Nice golf course
Nice golf course. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Challenging greens to say the least. Did have to wait 20 minutes for a burger. Overall great course to play.
Very Walkable Course
Enjoy this course because you can score well and it is very walkable. Bunkers and water to make it challenging enough but room for mistakes and to recover.
Hi ATLew. Thanks so much for taking the time to review your recent round.
We are glad to hear you enjoyed the course, and hope to see you back for another round. We also have our 'Old Course' for you to try. See you soon!
Nice layout - avoid the sand
Great day of golf. Pace was excellent. The course was in good shape. Only improvement point would be the sand traps. Most were very firm causing your club to bounce, so just avoid the sand ;).
Will try other places
I’m a novice and have played here before. I’m so tired of being paired up with other groups that I’ll look for other courses that actually follow the “play with who you came with” philosophy during this pandemic. They do everything possible to make sure you go out in a four ball so they can make money?! This is a clublink course, right? They’re not making money hand over fist? How is golf like this here? I wouldn’t reserve a table for two at a restaurant and expect to be paired up with another couple for my dinner experience , why should my golf experience be any different? Short season? I call them out on that, as golf is not cheap here, so why is it like this? It makes a round of golf stressful for a novice and frustrating for an advanced golfer that gets paired with me. These courses need to get a grip. I challenge any of them to say they’re not making money! Ridiculous.
Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with us. Golf is played in groups of four when possible, that would be the same at any other course. We do have options for groups who would prefer to play just with their booked group - but if you don't inform that is your hope in advance we would have no idea that is what you'd like.
Most golf courses are currently on reduced tee times due to COVID precautions so we will aim to maximize the lesser amount of tee times that are available.
The best way to ensure to play just with your group is book in a group of 4 players. There are no golf courses in the GTA that are currently accommodating no pair-ups without a surchage so I understand your intention now, but communication with the course would be your best option when booking your next round of golf, be it with us or another course in the area.
We do hope to host you again, please call us and make any additional accommodation requests at that time so we can advise of our surcharge options to not be paired up.
Big surprise
The course was not busy. Greens were excellent for a public access course.
Twosome. We waited every hole but still finished in just under 4 hours.
Very good value !!!
Highly recommended
Hi Justin. Thanks for taking the time to review your recent round.
We are disappointed to hear you weren't able to enjoy the back nine. Our pace of play is typically 4 hours and 15 minutes, and we have rarely exceeded 4 hours and 30 minutes in 2020. It sounds like you may have had some poor luck with the group in front. We always recommend scheduling 4.5 hours when playing our course, the same would be true for any championship size golf course in the GTA. If you are looking for the best speed, we always recommend using our 'play fast' times available before 9am daily.
If you'd like to return, please email us at playersclub@clublink.ca and we are happy to get set-up and situated for the best experience based on your pace of play.
