Millcroft Golf Club
About
Located in North Burlington, Millcroft Golf Club is a semi-private facility that welcomes public play. This reputable course was named the best golf course in Burlington for 10 consecutive years by the Reader's Choice Awards. Its longstanding reputation is built on the perfect course conditions that they meticulously maintain. Millcroft Golf Club's tight layout has the distinct feature of not having any fairways that run parallel to one another. Pace of Play
My only complaint about this course that I have golfed at many times over the years is the pace of play... it seems that Friday afternoons is when their Senior Members take to the field in a club organized outing. I believe we should have been notified of the possible slow down since on many holes we were waiting more than 15 minutes a hole. Hard to get into the game when this type of delay/stoppage in play is going on...
Wait until the grass comes back.
I have played this course many times over the last 25 years. the current conditions of the course are the worst I have ever seen. Obviously, the course do not have a water irrigation system. Therefore ,their is little to no grass on the fairways. Greens are in good shape. It is hard to believe that they are charging regular rates.
Millcroft
Pretty good course, but don't play it if you or anyone in your group is wild off the tee or has trouble keeping it straight - it's built in the middle of a suburb and houses line the fairways on a number of holes.
Millcroft is great
My favourite course in Burlington. Always friendly staff and played by friendly people.
Wider fairways which are nice for the novice/intermediate golfer.
Fun course by dry
This short course has a fun and challenging layout especially the par 3s but the fairways are not being adequately watered so it is very dry and hard as others have reported. Easy to walk with some long stretches from hole to tee. The round was too slow for a short course as it took almost 4.5 hours to play with waits on every tee box and most shots.
Poor condition
The fairways were brown, dry and hard. Most of the second shot was on hard ground like concrete floor. There was no rain for the past two weeks that does not mean that the course cannot not be watered properly. Hope to see improved condition if I play here again.
Seasonally very dry conditions
Tee blocks were very hard, lots of burning, dry areas. Usually in better condition. Cart girl was hard to locate and it was very hot out.
Enjoyed Playing Here
My first time playing here and was not disappointed. Easy course to walk and carry the clubs, despite the occasional hike to the next tee. Course was in good shape; the greens run true; bunkers easy to hit out of. Most of the fairways are nice and wide, but with some well-placed hazards. The marshals were on the ball and pleasant to talk to. All in all, a very enjoyable experience and I look forward to playing there again when I'm back in town.
Decent Course
Have played the course many times before and got the tee time on a "hot deals." ( 3 players) We got there about 40 mins early and even though the 1st tee was clear they would not allow us to start. We were told that it was very busy and that we would not be allowed to start until our scheduled time because it was a "Hot Deal."
We started at our regular tee time and caught the 3some ahead of us by the 4th hole. It was wait, wait, wait for the rest of the day.
Feel good course
This is my feel good course. Whenever I need to put up a low score I come here. It's short, flat and forgiving of mistakes. The greens are also pretty flat so putts are easy.
Come play here to shoot a low score and boost your confidence.
4 hour round.
Nice course in a residential pocket.
With marshals maitianing a good pace at all times.
Great staff good layout
Course was in good condition for this time of year, I found the course a bit of a challenge, as a beginner, but had a lot of fun playing the course, Due to course being surrounded by houses this protects the course from wind in some areas. I would for sure play this course again.
Great late season outing.
Great quick, quality round. Staff very helpful and courteous. Very good design.
Excellent Shape for November
The course was in great shape for end of season and was very impressed with the condition of the greens
Millcroft Has Grown Up
Wasn't so long ago that Millcroft was a well-groomed , but short premium golf course, dominated by beautifully landscape executive homes. The homes are still there, but the domination is gone. Monarch has done a very effective job of tree planting and contouring to push the houses way back - they no longer dominate. The course is still a well-groomed but short (now even shorter) premium golf course.
Manage
Unless your accurate with your shot on the long Par 3's you are best to hit a short iron, chip on and put out. From past experience that is what I should have done today!
Challenging
First time playing. Always wanted to try. The houses make it a little more daunting but not terribly frightening even for a 95 shooter. I kept the driver in the bag to ensure I hit more fairways. Course was pretty good considering time of year. Leaves only an issue if you hit into the trees. Bunkers were terrible though. Pace was avg. I did finish the round just under 4 hours but waited at a lot of the holes for 5+ mins.
special deals at millcroft
I wasn't expecting much for an October rainy day, I was just looking to practise some wedge plays. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the greens were running so smooth straight and still very firm considering the weather conditions that we just played the full 18 holes
The fairways were in just as good a shape without any kind of leaf problems normally expected of fall day course play.
The greens were in much better shape then other courses around the area. The ball was even bouncing quite high and firmly, such that you had to adjust for the bounce and release and again this is in October in Canada during a wet day. The only complaint I can throw at this course is that the tee boxes were a little roughed up.
Kudos to the greens staff. Keep up the good work.
Devlin.
A Great Course in Burlington
This is a great par-70 course that weaves its way through the suburban neighbourhoods of Burlington. You never have to worry about yelling 'fore' because the holes are all self-contained. I always enjoy this course, and with a great fall-rate special, playing here is a no-brainer. It's challenging, but not overwhelmingly so, and there are no hills to speak of, so it's easily walked. Well maintained, and a friendly pro shop staff. The only point of advice is that if you're not familiar with the area - use a GPS to find the clubhouse, because it is sort of tucked away on a non-descript city street. (you can see the course and sign from Dundas St., but as I learned, that is no where close to the clubhouse! Use the GPS, or become hopelessly lost as I did my first time there!)
