Good course if you get a deal
The pace was good except it was jammed at the pro shop to start. After hit the first tee, the pace was good. I played blue twice. Second round was fast. Nobody was behind. The blue is short. Only 2400 yard from white tee. I’ll play there again if I get a deal.
Outstanding layout. Unacceptable conditions on greens.
This course has an outstanding layout and some great holes; however, whoever is in charge of this place clearly doesn't care about the course. They must be letting it get run down and burnt out before they sell the land. It's a shame because there is so much potential here. With some TLC to the greens, this course would be a true hidden gem. I have no care if the clubhouse is a hole in the wall but the greens shouldn't be cut the length of a 1970s shag carpet.
Course (blue red) has gotten better since the last time I played it. Greens are really slow but other than that overall pretty good. They cleared the weeds out of the bunkers since the last time I played it and the course seems to be in better condition. This is a good course for someone new to the game of golf. The course is also very busy so expect some waiting on the fairways and tees.
Roost Review
Course didn't honor the price I was given for a cart. It was overbooked, had to wait to get started, and at every hole! Conditions were not at all what I expected. They were dry, and traps were filled with weeds, fairways seemed forgotten, and greens were so so.
Course BLOWS
Played this course for the first time the other day and it’s hard to find anything good to say about it. Girl in the proshop was nice also very good looking. But that was the only thing good looking at the course. The fairways look like rough and the greens were longer than my pubes.
Not well maintained.
The course is not maintained very well. Still had a great game.
Terrible Experience
I took my father, brother-in-law and nephew here for what I had hoped would be nice round of golf.
Check-in: Girl in the pro-shop was anything but friendly, bordering on rude.
Starter: rude and not welcoming at all.
Course Conditions: Absolutely terrible with very little difference between fairway and green. Greens were like putting on a shag carpet. Bunkers were a nightmare and haven’t seen any attention in years.
Halfway House: Very rude lady working there. Oh and no liquor licence.
Overall the worst public course I have ever played. They should be paying us to play it. At $50 to walk, not even close to worth it. Needless to say I will never give them another dime of my money.
NEW OWNER RUINED THE COURSE
Owner drives around the parking lot in his corvette thinking it’s acceptable to charge $40 for a cart on his poorly maintained course. The course itself is $60 at 2pm on a Tuesday which is way over priced as is and he is trying to charge $40 for a cart. No. Have some pride in your course and maybe I’ll pay those prices. He’s a goof.
Great walking course
Banty’s Roost has a decent layout and is easy to walk. Course is in rough condition but still playable. Greens are ok but need some care. Club house is showing its age.
won't play again unless free
played the white - red courses. the fairways were not cared for and the traps and greens were absolutely terrible. plants growing in traps, greens were spotty and dead patches abound.
An astonishingly neglected course.
I'm not sure about the course's history, but would love to hear the story of how it fell apart. I heard a few people mention new owners, but it looks like there is 0 standard of care right now. Also no liquor license, destroyed restroom facilities (no men's toilet). No sanitizing stations.
It appeared it could have had potential in the past, but looked like it hadn't gotten anything but bare minimum maintenance for years.
All bunkers were neglected, and overgrown with weeds. Some to the point where you could hardly tell it was ever a bunker. No range markers on the white course (come on). Greens were burnt, unkept, even had little forests of mushrooms on some holes.
I didn't see one course maintenance worker over the entire 18 holes. If you hit a ball 1 foot into the rough/feskew, consider it gone. With a booked-up day, I don't see how any $ is being reinvested here.
Looks like ownership are willing to run it into the ground until people stops coming and cash runs out.
Terribly Conditions. No Beer!
We played this course yesterday after booking on GolfNow When checking in we asked if the beer cart would be out today and they said no, but refreshments are available at the bar in between rounds. We played White/Red.
The White especially was in extremely poor condition with anywhere from swampy conditions due to bad drainage, to extremely dry and brown fairways and greens. Everything from the tee-boxes to the greens were in very poor condition with obviously almost no maintenance being done. The White course also had no yardage sticks anywhere to be seen which was disappointing. The sand traps which are numerous were overgrown with weeds and full of gravelly sand. Not possible to play out of and very disappointing that zero attempt was made to make these traps playable.
The Red course was ever so slightly better condition, but not by much. at least there was yardage sticks visible.
At the bar in between 9/10 they informed us they don't have a liquor license yet so only water and gatorade was available. We felt very misled about this as we asked specifically about a beverage cart in the morning and the way they answered was extremely misleading.
I would not recommend this course to anyone. Save your money - there is LOADS of other courses around in the same price point that make an effort.
What Happened?
This used to be one of the best “cheaper” courses to play. I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone at this point. There was a dead raccoon on the course that looked like it had been there for a couple of days, right in the fairway. They’ve given up on their bunkers entirely at this point, most are just overgrown with weeds. The greens were like putting on a shag carpet, you never felt like you hit the putt hard enough.
Used to come to this course a few times a year, especially when I first started golfing 15-20 years ago. I can’t see a situation where I would ever come back. Everything looks like it’s in a state of disrepair.
