Great walking course
Banty’s Roost has a decent layout and is easy to walk. Course is in rough condition but still playable. Greens are ok but need some care. Club house is showing its age.
won't play again unless free
played the white - red courses. the fairways were not cared for and the traps and greens were absolutely terrible. plants growing in traps, greens were spotty and dead patches abound.
An astonishingly neglected course.
I'm not sure about the course's history, but would love to hear the story of how it fell apart. I heard a few people mention new owners, but it looks like there is 0 standard of care right now. Also no liquor license, destroyed restroom facilities (no men's toilet). No sanitizing stations.
It appeared it could have had potential in the past, but looked like it hadn't gotten anything but bare minimum maintenance for years.
All bunkers were neglected, and overgrown with weeds. Some to the point where you could hardly tell it was ever a bunker. No range markers on the white course (come on). Greens were burnt, unkept, even had little forests of mushrooms on some holes.
I didn't see one course maintenance worker over the entire 18 holes. If you hit a ball 1 foot into the rough/feskew, consider it gone. With a booked-up day, I don't see how any $ is being reinvested here.
Looks like ownership are willing to run it into the ground until people stops coming and cash runs out.
Terribly Conditions. No Beer!
We played this course yesterday after booking on GolfNow When checking in we asked if the beer cart would be out today and they said no, but refreshments are available at the bar in between rounds. We played White/Red.
The White especially was in extremely poor condition with anywhere from swampy conditions due to bad drainage, to extremely dry and brown fairways and greens. Everything from the tee-boxes to the greens were in very poor condition with obviously almost no maintenance being done. The White course also had no yardage sticks anywhere to be seen which was disappointing. The sand traps which are numerous were overgrown with weeds and full of gravelly sand. Not possible to play out of and very disappointing that zero attempt was made to make these traps playable.
The Red course was ever so slightly better condition, but not by much. at least there was yardage sticks visible.
At the bar in between 9/10 they informed us they don't have a liquor license yet so only water and gatorade was available. We felt very misled about this as we asked specifically about a beverage cart in the morning and the way they answered was extremely misleading.
I would not recommend this course to anyone. Save your money - there is LOADS of other courses around in the same price point that make an effort.
What Happened?
This used to be one of the best “cheaper” courses to play. I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone at this point. There was a dead raccoon on the course that looked like it had been there for a couple of days, right in the fairway. They’ve given up on their bunkers entirely at this point, most are just overgrown with weeds. The greens were like putting on a shag carpet, you never felt like you hit the putt hard enough.
Used to come to this course a few times a year, especially when I first started golfing 15-20 years ago. I can’t see a situation where I would ever come back. Everything looks like it’s in a state of disrepair.
Just a mess
Had to clean our own carts with their disinfectant cleaner
No direction on what course to start at
Very slow play, overbooked
Fairway grass cut like rough
Sandtraps or should I say overgrown weed traps
Putting greens all burnt and hard as rock
Flag poles broken/ not even sitting staight/ ripped flags just junk
Not even a twilight rate at our 430 teetime
Just don't waste your money, won't be going there again. Way overpriced for what it is.
Bantys is a roost
Worst greens I’ve seen at this course; like putting on pile carpet.
okay, but still needs work
The 3rd 9 (white course) was closed today, as it should have been last week when we played. It was in terrible shape, and needs work to bring it up to a playable level. The blue and red courses are in pretty good shape, but there are still yardage markers missing, and the one on Blue#1 for 100 yards, doesn't seem to be in the right place for the actual distance (unless the 150 marker is wrong. Overall we had an enjoyable round.
Banty's Roost Golf Course
As we are still in "lockdown" status due to Covid-19 virus the conditions at this course are similar to all courses.
All green fees are the same for any time during the day and this has brought out a steady group of golfers.
Course is in need of work and greens are particularly slow. Layout is fairly basic with a few holes worthy of note. It's a good place to play "practice" rounds which is what I use it for.
The worst course
Wow... this course is in terrible conditions. From the tee boxes to fairways and greens, an absolute mess!!! Please save your money and do no waste your time there, this course is not worth the money you pay for it.
Confusing Course
Course layout isn’t great. Bunkers are not maintained multiple stakes were missing and the greens weren’t taken care of.
Horrible!
Where to start!
Course I guess-
Sand traps were like concrete
Greens were brown
Fairways were unkept
Roughs were like fescue
Fringes were soaked.
They don’t care to upkeep this at all
Pace-
They don’t understand how online booking works- so many groups double booked. Pay $65.00 and tat one or 5 there were SIX GROUPS!! 1 on the green, 1 chipping, 1 on the fairway, 1 on tee box, 2 waiting behind tee box. Marshall’s driving around but they don’t care
Amenities-
Worst of all- no where prior to arrival does it say NO ALCOHOL, even when you register someone ought to tell you THEY DONT HAVE A LIQUOR LICENSE! Sorry but no pros are going to Banty Roost- it’s guys looking to enjoy a beer and play golf. And you can’t do either there
I used to play this track 5-6 times a season! This was my first of 2020 and my last ever! New owners clearly don’t care. Probably developers using the next summer or two to milk what they can before turning it into a subdivision
Worst course in Ontario
This is by far the worst course I have ever played. I played Saturday and had Sunday booked from earlier this week. During my round Saturday, I tried to cancel my Sunday booking but was unable. The course was not maintained, was told by employee that the maintenance crew did not come back from the year before. There is no organization and they have no idea what courses people are playing. There were 15 minute waits on each hole. I went on Sunday and waited 45 minutes to get a cart, got my money back. I have golfed here previous years but it has completely gone to crap.
What happened?
I used to play this course for years. The price is not worth it. There is no dress code even though they say their is. The course is in shambles. They are stacking everyone on the course just trying to make a buck. No bunkers no water in the water traps. The course is not evenly cut. Also not COVID ready at all. The Marshall said he cleaned out cart at arrival we found cigarette butts in the cart. The cart also died on us and there was sorry or anything just a ohh well from the staff. Don’t play this course if you like or love golf it’s the worst it is like playing on the Toronto public golf courses except I expect them to be terrible this was disgusting. Never Again and the sad thing is we played twilight hours and it’s still not worth the money at all.
