Nice course - wide open
This is a nice course and wide open with lost o variety over 27 holes. Greens were in decent shape for April. Course is flay and easy to walk.
Banty's Roost
Considering Ontario's weather at this time of year the course was OK , grass on fairways still dormant and greens a bit raw, but we got to play and spent time
outdoors, did not like the car key retainer for golf cart that barely drove, was still frozen, at the end of round the pro-shop staff had a hard time finding our car keys
Watch out for the trees
I played my first round at Banty's Roost on Saturday and I had a pleasant afternoon. The course is well laid out, with thee nines which all lead back to the club house. As for pace of play, the course is a fairly long one, so unless it gets extremely crowded you are only limited by your handicap. The fairways are long and wide, but if you overshoot cutting a corner on a dog leg, you might bounce off a tree from time to time. That being said, They could still benefit from a few more trees as the wind can be a factor in your play. The greens vary from deceptively slow to undulating to oops that was fast. When you do get to the water, don't be afraid to hit the ball. As long as remember to treat it as if it's 10 to 20 yards longer from wherever you are, you should clear the water and get on the green. I can't wait till the summer to play there.
Long holes....very reasonable.....close to city
can't really review as it was high winds , lots of spring water , and just opened ......had fun never the less.......and course was fine considering the impossibility of improving it due to weather .
Banty's Roost
Reasoanably good to look at. Of the 27 holes, the white nine is the most challenging and all 27 holes are fair. Blue nine is short but fun to play. They made some very subtle changes few years ago that improved the play, the look and the entire feel of the course - made it a just smidge more player friendly. 2014 walking rate is awesome value. The proshop needs more natural light, it's dimly lit and feels grim. Same goes for the dining area. They should turn on the lights. Shouldn't matter if one is only there for the golf. Biggest golf complaint are the greens: they're slowww - aim for the hole and give the ball a smack - they need to be cut and rolled. Having played there at different time of the year, these greens are not seasonal but their standard. Fareways are solid/hard in the summer.
This course has a choice of 18 holes.
Very interesting course with a good layout. Greens were in excellent condition and challenging. Excellent value for this time of year with a cart provided (if you tire easily, would not suggest walking this course.
impressed
have not played here in years and was impressed, course was in great condition and almost empty
enjoyed it
Hot deal price was well worth it
Course is a fairly easy one where it is hard to loose your ball so challenging it is not as I cut 10 shots off my average. Also to pay $75 during the summer is way overpriced as I play much nicer courses for a lot less. Anyway I enjoy myself for a fall day. Thanks
Good coarse
Nice place to play great staff nicely maintained would recommend this coarse to any golfer looking to have a good round
Standard course
This is a decent course. At around 40$ it offers a nice variety but nothing crazy. You should not use many golf balls since the water and OB areas are few and far between. We always enjoy this course because we can really attack it and it still offers a little challenge. The greens are fairly easy, however the sand traps this time of year are rock solid as in we wud just take a free drop outta the sand! Enjoy!!!
Very good condition
Course has improved over the past few years.. Great price.. Course great to use every club in your bag
Rude and Discourteous Staff
Arrived a 30 minutes before tee time, wanted to pay and get carts organized, pro shop staff said I had to wait until 10 mins before tee time to pay because I booked through Golf Now, this is absurd. The gents running the pro shop at the time were overwhelmed and could not process patrons in an efficient manner. On multiple occasions the cart person had the engine running while we were teeing off, then after sped by us without asking if wanted to purchase anything. Finally the Marshalls, the absolute reason we will avoid this course in the future, unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. There are much better courses in the GTA to spend your time and money on.
Good Enough!
We had a great day and a great run. It was pretty nice for the price and location. I had no complaints except I do prefer (1) when there is a beer cart and (2) when we are allowed to take our carts to our cars.
this course has very rock hard greens
golfnow should provide a breakdown on the additional fees.
golfnow needs to make sure they call the courses & provide a course confirmation number for the customer as there was 3 - 4somes there for the SAME tee time.
Conveniently located on top of the City
Course was in good condition.
Was not overly busy on this day, so play was more enjoyable. Can be difficult when wind is blowing.
Staff needs to update
So I walked into the pro shop to check in for my tee time... They didn't have me in their "system" (a pencil and paper). The staff was rude and accused me of using golfnow to find deals that ripped them off.
Eventually, I got out with two other gentleman who also booked online. Overall, the course isn't terrible. Sand traps were not filled with sand, but instead dirt.
I probably wouldn't come back just because of the service I received. But if you can get passed that, it's an average course.
Nice course with all you need
there is a range, putting and pitching place and the course is made to end up at the club house as a halfway house before you start the next nine. On the day I played there was no beverage service on the course and one of the machines was broken. I was really thirsty at the end. Some guys were drinking on the patio while you have to tee off from the first hole on the red course. Somehow disturbing. I fired two balls into the water. Although it is a nice par 3.
Confidence builder
Apple orchard course. You get the sweet smell of manure when the wind is blowing . Great confidence building course as it's impossible to lose balls here. Greens are EXTREMELY slow, tee boxes and fairways are in decent shape. Try to play red & white as the blue course is really short.
Nice place, some fairways are remarkable.
I have been here a few times. Facilities and food could have been better. Course has some remarkable fairways.
