Golfer Reviews
Brutal Customer Service
we showed up for our 12 tee off time and witnessed a zoo at the club house. People were complaining about wait times.....we went in to pay and get our cart... they all chuckled that they were running about 45 minutes behind schedule but I was welcome to go buy a lunch and wait....I asked why book a tee off time if it wasn't honored they said they were still working on 11 am tee times at 11:40 when I was there....told me to come back at 12 and they will see. at 12 went back in they called me a liar for coming back at 12 and to go wait. at 12:10 they came out and yelled , do we have any twosomes ready to golf...I happened to be right beside him so we were lucky , I thought. they paired us with a twosome that had a 12:08pm who said they showed up and got right on.....no big deal we headed to #1 Blues and when we got there we joined 5 over foursomes waiting to golf.....Brutal people in the first group had been waiting 45 minutes for their start.....my playing partner bailed with the other twosome and got a refund.... I noticed the next group off had only 3 so I joined them.......halfway through the round the maintenance crew decided they were going to start blowing out their sprinkler lines for the winter so we were constantly being blasted with loud air noises. It was real obvious that the owner / manager only cared about making as much money as possible that day. worse customer service/ clubhouse interaction I have ever had golfing.....But on a good not the Jays won
Horrible
The pro shop staff are a nightmare to deal with, tee times were back up from hole 1 which lead to having to leave at the turn due to a 4 group pile up on our #10. The service staff were the only good part of the course as they were friendly both on the course and in the club house. If you have time for a 6 hour round on a weekend, I may recommend...
golfnow.com ???
If you want to have a good time in this golf course, you may need to think about the way to book carefully. The owner looks very unhappy the players from golfnow.com. The staff was very rude. Very disappointed.
Greens & Traps under par
With three 9's, Banty's Roost will usually give you a quick round. Fairways are in fine shape. The more expensive parts of a golf course to maintain - greens and traps - while very serviceable, need work. Greens were left long (and therefore slow), because to shorten them would risk burning and even more expense. Sand traps are pebbly and not filled.
Still, you can have a terrific golf experience, played at various lengths, for a reasonable rate. That's why I alternate this course with more expensive, semi-premium courses. My cost-per-round then is also more manageable.
Good value for money
I played this course many years ago and found it to be just ok but this time out I was pleasantly surprised. The blue course 9 was a little easy and the greens were very slow. The red course 9 was longer, more challenging and the greens were a lot faster.
Great course, staff need some work
Showed up an hour early for my tee time on a long weekend, not knowing whether the course would be busy or not. Also, I wanted to warm up with a small bucket of balls before my round.
When I asked the first guy I met in the pro shop, he told me the course was "unusually quiet. Actually, scary quiet!" so I figured I'd have no problem riding as a single. Great, just what I wanted that day!
Hit my bucket and came back to the pro shop, still with half hour before my tee time and was told I'd have to wait out the full 30 minutes before I could start!
Meanwhile, a walk-in arrived, asked if he and his wife could book a time and play - and that they did. Walked right into a cart and straight to the first tee. I know, because they were the only people to show up in the 30 minutes I sat in my cart and waited.
When it was finally time to tee off, the guy couldn't even tell me which two 9's I'd be playing that day. I had to play the first 9 and come back and ask which 9 to play next.
Overall it's a nice course, but boy, the guys in the pro shop sure are curt. I'm not sure if, like others have said, they don't like Golf Now customers, but if you don't like the service - cancel it. I'm new to golf so this site is how I find all my courses and tee times. Sorry to disappoint you!
Otherwise, it's quite a nice course. I played blue and white and they were both really nice. The fairways are tight on some holes so mis hits can easily wind up on neighboring fairways, but that's on me, not on them!
Only a couple water holes, but they're really nice.
Good condition
Course was in good condition, both fairways and greens. Golf carts seem old and only in fair condition.
Great Value
For a relatively short drive from Toronto, Banty's is a great course for anyone with a 20-24 handicap. Anything else and you might find the course a bit too easy and too short. Maintenance is good, greens are in great shape! Couple of characters in the pro shop though.
Once is Enough
I only golf once a year; for my birthday. This year, I chose to golf at this club and I found that I picked the right day because the weather was spectacular and the greens seemed as though they were well maintained. We were lucky enough to go on a day that the course was not busy at all and didn't have to worry about people in front or back of us. Being my birthday, I didn't have to pay but, my brother managed to find a deal for himself and my friend who tagged along. Everything was perfect until the back 9; and we had parked our carts on the side slightly off the golf cart path but nowhere near the putting greens for the hole that we stopped at. Literally, we were 1 foot away from the golf cart part and as we were purchasing food and drinks from the snack attendant from her cart, the marshal came zooming in and says "you guys should know better". To which we replied as stating that we didn't know what he was referring to and he was pointing to our carts stating that we should not be parked there. I apologized and he kept scolding us and I mentioned that I'm trying to enjoy my game because it's my birthday and my friend apologized this time so he could leave. One bad experience is enough for me to never come back. Really spoiled my golf outing on my birthday. You guys should hire someone other than that grumpy old grandpa who had PMS.
i checked in but i wanted to check out
this course seems to have a problem with GolfNow customers. for the second time they tried very vigorously to extract payment from me after i had already paid for the round of golf to Golfnow online. this is very embarrasing to myself when there are other golfers waiting to check in. i have no intention of returning to this facility.
good beginners course
As a beginner, I played the course with a 6,9, iron and a putter, some holes I found a challenge, found course good for a beginner, more experience golfers were patient.
Very enjoyable
If you're looking for a friendly walk in the par, this is your place. I rode but next time I would definitely walk. Course is shortish so check the yardage on the card before you start and you will likely want to go back a block or 2. Greens were a little slow but very true and well kept. All in all a very pleasant outing and the pro shop staff were very friendly. I will definitely add Banty's Roost to my list of places to play for a value added round.
Good course for all players, especially intermediate.
Excellent course to take your driver for a workout. A few sub300 yards and 4 par 5's. greens in excellentconditions.
This time i had a cart to myself and play better. Sharing a cart is detrimental to your level and pace of play. If you can, as single, demand a cart by yourself, you will be less hurried and enjoy more.
the course was in great shape
was very surprise on the condition of the greens they were in the best shape that i've ever seen them
Play only if you get a great deal.
Booked for Blue and was told they have there own system of putting you on and don't care about what you have booked thru Golf now.
Staff is not very frioendly. Some of the Marshals are prone to shouting, behaving rudely.
Forgiving fairways but protected greens
I found this course moderately challenging because of the 2 reasons stated in the subject. We spent the whole day there. It was really windy yesterday so it played like a links course and it made the guarded greens even more difficult when your shots were lower in trajectory. Definitely worth a try. The proshop staff was understanding and when asked for replay fee, they allowed us to play the next 9 course free. I'm sure it was due to the weather. Very nice of them.
Golf now more expensive than direct through course
Course was good value for the money, though disappointed to learn Golf Now offered a rate (supposedly at a discount) that was in fact more expensive than what I would have paid to book direct with the course. Unfortunate.
Proshop Tee time management needs work.
Good:
Course is fine, staffs are friendly.
Bad:
Three foursomes were still waiting for their 1st tee
shot when we got to the first tee box at our tee time.
From my playing partner's comment, the waiting is typical at the course. Adding fuel to fire, proshop kept sending 4somes over every 5 min behind us, you got the picture.
A few tee boxes are popular targets from bad
approach shots of nearby green.
