Fall golf
Fairways and greens are trimmed quite nicely. Putts don't break as much as you think they will on all holes. Recent weather has soaked this course, where tee boxes were quite muddy, and some areas in the fairway were plugging balls. Greeks were also soft, with many ballarks to fix prior to putting out. Overall a challenging course and will play again in the future, as this is one course In our rotation in the area, as an alternative to Copetown, Mystic, Willow Valley, Lowville, and Hidden Lake.
What an absolutely fantastic course.
It is now o e of my favorites. Will definitely be playing here again
Conditions
The greens were previously aireated and were in not so ideal conditions. The green fees were NOT worth $90. They need to reduce to fall golf rates. Normally this is one of my favourite courses to play. But this time around, the fees were too high for the course conditions.
Excellent conditions
It had been a while since I had been to Dragons Fire, and was pleasantly surprised by the course conditions. The turf was in great shape, despite the greens being recently punched and filled. Another surprise was the amount of trees taken down, but I bet it had to do with a moth infestation, which there was no sign of.
Pace of play was dreadful for a Thursday afternoon, and I think the 8 minute tee time separation it the culprit. I certainly wouldn't be interested in seeing what it is like on a weekend.
$100 for the round including cart was a bit steep, but it is on par with the other courses in the area, and they do have new carts with comfy seats.
Great course for the value, greens are very well kept. Nice course cut through the woods, highly recommend!
A terrific day
A solid test with a number of challenging holes. Maybe too much golf course for high handy cappers!
Front/Middle/Back Markers on Flagsticks
I only have one compliant about Dragons Fire - and I am tired of making the point in these reviews and in person.
It is extremely frustrating to be down the fairway looking at the green and being unable to tell whether the flag is at the front, middle or back. A simple fix used by many courses is to attach mini flags to the flagstick, red when at the front, white in the middle and blue at the back - problem solved! Zak says this is not his area of responsibility and the Head Groundskeeper is responsible. Why is he responsible - with golfers being irritated by this omission management should be intervening - this is a simple fix - please DO IT!
