Rude Staff
I’ve played here a couple of times and while I enjoy the course I’ve always gotten a bad vibe as a young female golfer in the clubhouse (I’ve literally been ignored standing directly in front of a pro shop worker while he talked over me head to older male members). I can brush the misogyny off though so that’s fine.
My breaking point today and why will never spend another dollar at this course. I decided last minute to play a round by myself, so I check their tee times and there was not a single tee time booked from 1:12-2pm. I booked my tee time as a double as Chronogolf does not allow single bookings. Important to keep in mind that if I’m booking a single I make sure to book at a time that is completely empty.
Upon arrival, I time the already seemingly miserable guy that it would just be myself, he said “well you can’t golf as a single. I’ll have to add you to a pair”. When I stated that there wasn’t a single tee time booked for the next 45 minutes and if that was the case then he can forget it and I’ll leave. He asked “well why did you book for 2?” To which I told him the website doesn’t let me book for 1 person…his response was “exactly”. I started to walk out and told him that he didn’t need to be so rude about it.
If you’re a single golfer…forget about it. If you’re a female and not a member then you better not expect friendliness from the staff. Even if this was a rule or policy that actually made sense, the way that I was greeted and spoken to today was rude, disrespectful and completely uncalled for. Save your money and go up the road to the numerous other golf courses that respect ALL golfers.
Pickering Glen
The course was in good shape despite a heavy rain earlier in the afternoon. It drained well and only a few areas near cart paths had large puddles. It didn’t affect play. It is traditional 1960s course, tree lined airways with water hazards coming into play on many holes. A beautiful but fair course that I would recommend to any level of golfer.
Very good course to enjoy
The golf course was very well maintained. Greens n fairways were in very good condition. Roughs were cut short, making it easier to locate the ball and quicken the pace of play. Check in was super quick and had to thank Mike for arranging an earlier tee off time due to our schedule change. This is the course that I saw the Marshall many times to check the pace which was excellent. Today was hot and the beverage cart was always around. Overall, the course was in very good condition and the staff very friendly n polite making it a very enjoyable day.
Good course spoilt by very slow play
Greens were ok but the Tee boxes were dreadful so many divots on most boxes. Why can’t they have top dressing boxes on each box so the divot can be filled?
Game was spoilt by a number of people who just can’t hit the ball, very slow play Marshall should be taken action.
Really bad management
Absolutely the worst experience in 40 years plus of golfing. Stay away!!! I brought two forsomes and never been treated so poorly by the golf ccourse management at any previous golf cousre. STRONGLY DO NOT RECCOMEND.!!!!!
A good course worth playing
The course was very well maintained and the greens n fairways were in good condition. Rough was cut short n easy to locate the balls n quicken the pace of play. Some sections of the car path however required repairs. Check in was quick n staff was polite n friendly. We were a bit early but Marshall allowed us to tee off as other teams still waiting for their friends. Thanks for the flexibility. Today was really hot n the beverage cart really helped n always around. Overall a very good course worth revisiting.
No Cart Girl and pace of paly was not impressive
We had a close to 5 hour round, lots of back up at every hole.
Did not see cart girl at all, it was hot day and could not even get a bottle of water on course. hope they will fix this.
