Golfer Reviews
As expected
Some morning tee times were sold before an afternoon shotgun. Arrived at starter hut 30 minutes before tee time booked on line, after checking in at golf shop and being handed a slip for the starter. Starter told me my tee I quoted did not exist. Looked at the slip and said I guess you are right...Then said.. wait this is for yesterday.. I said thats what I was just given in golf shop. He gets on the radio and suddenly all is well. He said go to the tee. I told him I still need to stretch and putt as my time is 25 minutes away. Grumbles. Ended up teeing off 15 minutes after my time. After the starter, all as expected...Fair condition for this time of year. Royal woodbine is always wet and never disappoints
Way too expensive
Way too expensive. this course should be $80 with cart, maybe even less
Staff were rude
The Player assistants at this course were very rude and ungrateful to be there as one of them yelled at us for being slightly off the cart path when it was cart path only.
Would not recommend
As a course I enjoy Royal Woodbine a lot. I knew the course would be wet today given the constant drizzle and rain the day before HOWEVER, I was not prepared for how drenched the course was. They should have closed the course for the day. My guess is there were less than a dozen golfers all day as there was noone ahead of us for at least 90 minutes (we were two) and only one foursome behind us. I am fairly sure they lost money today given how few people golfed. It drizzled all day and all the fairways were drenched with pools of water making any approach shot overly challenging. Amazingly the greens were decent as they had aerated lately and so drainage was good. All in all not a good day and I would not golf again on a day like today. Lesson learned for me but again I would have thought course management would have done the right thing by their customers and closed down for the day
Good course design.
It’s not a long course but it’s fairly tight. Plenty of water throughout. The course was in year end conditions and unfortunately they have recently punched and sanded the greens which in the long run is good for the course but that would have been useful information to have before we booked.
