Way too expensive
Way too expensive. this course should be $80 with cart, maybe even less
Nice course lots of water though
Thin fairways and water but it’s a well maintained course.
Staff were rude
The Player assistants at this course were very rude and ungrateful to be there as one of them yelled at us for being slightly off the cart path when it was cart path only.
Would not recommend
As a course I enjoy Royal Woodbine a lot. I knew the course would be wet today given the constant drizzle and rain the day before HOWEVER, I was not prepared for how drenched the course was. They should have closed the course for the day. My guess is there were less than a dozen golfers all day as there was noone ahead of us for at least 90 minutes (we were two) and only one foursome behind us. I am fairly sure they lost money today given how few people golfed. It drizzled all day and all the fairways were drenched with pools of water making any approach shot overly challenging. Amazingly the greens were decent as they had aerated lately and so drainage was good. All in all not a good day and I would not golf again on a day like today. Lesson learned for me but again I would have thought course management would have done the right thing by their customers and closed down for the day
Good course design.
It’s not a long course but it’s fairly tight. Plenty of water throughout. The course was in year end conditions and unfortunately they have recently punched and sanded the greens which in the long run is good for the course but that would have been useful information to have before we booked.
Why why why?
Pace was terrible because course insisted on cart paths only - but why, when course wasnt wet at all other than a couple of usual spots. This is what slows down pace ......which played almost 5 hours !!!!! Guys were leaving in droves, simply passing and going home. All because of poor management.
Also , what's with the sand all over half the greens? Aeration is one thing but the sand is horrendous, dirty and sloppy to putt on.
Too bad, because layout is great.
Expensive and bad condition constantly.
Royal Woodbine is always lacking. Yes, it's a city course, but for $100 or $80 at twilight, it's super pricey for the consistent bad quality.
The worst is that carts are mandatory in the purchase of your tee time, however yesterday it was cart path only so I was super annoyed since I would of definitely just used a pull cart if I could. The pace of play was lacking significantly due to this rule and all players being in carts.
The tee boxes are always torn up, divots are never replaced, a bunch of ground under repair sections on the fairways, and the greens are pummeled with ball marks that no one ever fixes.
Royal Woodbine should be your last resort when booking a tee time in the city.
