Golfer Reviews
Awesome
This course is great. It should get 5 stars except it’s just not quite like Glen Abbey or Augusta or whatever. But I would recommend this golf course to anyone!! It’s dope!
Excellent views
Challenging couse that needs to be played a few times to know where to miss.shots.
Greens in excellent shape. Layout is really nice.
Don't let the distance fool you, Although not a very long course, it has plenty of challenges.
Horrible round
Played 4 holes. Pace of play was so slow it ruined the 4 holes and we were waiting during every hole. After finishing 4 holes we couldn’t play anymore because it was so slow!
Royal Woodbine
Great course with some really challenging holes.
I've played it a few times this years and has always been good.
Pace of play was really slow last time out. No fault to the team there, just the course was over booked.
One thing that is disappointing about the course are the people who play there have no respect for the course. Divots not replaced, pitch marks on the greens not repaired. This makes the tee boxes and greens a little sub standard for a course of this caliber and price.
Target Golf with some longer holes
Conditions were terrible for us with swirling gale force winds most of the round. Would like to play it again to really judge it.
It's one of the more difficult courses in the Toronto area (check the slope rating) but it's fair and rewards good shots.
Overpriced - not COVID friendly
I booked a tee off for this course and it was showing wide open online. I showed up early expecting I would be able to get off early as a solo player. The course was open but they insisted I needed to wait to make a foursome. There was a group that was booked for 20 minutes after me but they sent them early (when I could have teed off). Instead I was delayed 20 minutes so they could put together a foursome.
When it was time for our combined foursome to go, they asked if I was in a bubble with the others and if I would share a cart. I politely said no and they made me pay a double cart fee as a result (while someone else got a freebie solo cart as a result). This is because they “invested” in soft plastic barriers held together by bungee cords to create a divided sections in the golf carts.
Overall, it’s a very challenging course but not that high end. Was very expensive plus my extra cart fee (plus lost balls in lots of water traps). Took over 5 hours to finish the round - would rather not pay the premium to play in the city and drive a little further.
Longest round of golf ever
we have played royal Woodbine before but yesterday our 1:10 tee time was delayed about 20 minutes due to a tournament. 5 and a half hours later we finished our round. We should have been told when booking that a tournament was ahead of our tee time. Not an enjoyable expreience and certainly not worth the $100.00+ greens fee! Will not be back to this course for a long long time.
water on every hole
played from blues and winding river came into play seemingly on every hole. There was no place to play from if ball was not in fairway.
No bev cart
Played on a day with almost 40 degree weather tees off at 8 AM didn’t have any service to buy a water beer or anything else until after we finished the 14th hole. For $140 price tag if you don’t have a beer cart driving around there should at least be multiple stations around the course to buy refreshments. Really took away from the experience as we were all overheating and extremely thirsty after the 3 hrs of playing before we came upon the one station to buy drinks.
