No Bathrooms??
Hi...the course was in great condition and they handled the covid measures wonderfuly...except...i didnt see a single usable bathroom on the course. The one i did see had white signs blocking out the "mens" & "womens" doors and they were both locked. 3 holes later i asked a cart server (who was stationed under an overpass) where i could use a washroom and she said i had to ask the course assistant for the key to the washroom...there was no sign or notice to let me know this. I went the whole round without the use of the "facilities". that put a damper big time on a rather nice course.
Staff was extremely rude and unwelcoming
I was approached by staff in golf carts multiple times during the first three holes. They told us that we need to pick up the pace of play because the people in front of us are falling behind and it’s impacting players behind us.
We were told to pick up our balls, without playing them and to move on to the next hole. This was after only our initial stroke.
It took me having to speak up and tell the staff member that it’s not my problem if people in front of us are falling behind. I paid a lot of money for my girlfriend and I to play a round of golf. They had already paired us up with another group to make a foursome to squeeze in more players.
The attitude I received made me feel very uncomfortable. I felt like leaving and insisting on a refund.
I will never return to the Royal Woodbine Golf Club.
Pleasure renewed
I haven't played Royal Woodbine in over a decade, but really glad I renewed old acquaintances! It is in excellent condition and presented a real challenge. I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Hydration and pace of play
There needs to be some sort of hydration station every 6 holes, so parrrrched.
Wound up having a 4.5 hour round...
Tough test
This course is great but tough if you get offline. It's rough and then your ball is gone. Course though is in great shape and the greens were running so smoothly! Couple tee boxes were in rough shape but overall a great course. Definitely recommend.
FB service is poor. Understand Covid is still an issue. Placing on course FB service in the Dixon Road tunnel is not appealing. $10 + tax beers is no deal. That’s no way to create post-golf volume. Patio service was just adequate-in other words, we received our drinks. Recognizing the impact of Covid on servers income, we tipped generously and received barely an audible thanks!.
We will be back in part due to convenient location. Spruce up the overall FB experience and we will happily Spend more.
FIRE IN THE HOLE !!
Wear your hardhat and keep low. Our group was fortunate to escape Royal Woodbine with only PTSD. Two errant balls flew over head while we were on the tee block and one line drive bounded between our group as we left a green.
The narrow confines of the course, coupled with a presumably large number of first time players make for an exciting experience. This track is not for the faint of heart.
