Overbooked
They overbook tee times. There was one hole with 3 groups on the tee box yet to tee off!! 3+hours to play 9 holes. Impossible to finish if you start after work.
Course condition
Checked their website before booking for course condition no mention of issues. Got there to find out all greens were plugged and sanded and not cut. Hate it when the course doesn’t let you know. Also several fairways were plugged and several in rough shape.
Probably will not return without getting reliable opinion on condition. Many courses around in better shape and less expensive.
Target Golf
I have always enjoyed playing Royal Woodbine since it is quite cleverly laid out and always well maintained. The practice green was sanded so I got no opportunity to do any putting prior to my round. Still I managed a 43/42 but with 39 putts off the whites. A good score for me at 73 years of age.
A wonderful, challenging golf course for those who can control the ball.
Sincerely,
Mike
Good public course
Good experience all round. Tight and challenging layout. Par 5s are short, with high risks on second shots. Greens were true and good, just a pity that some many pitch marks not repaired by other golfers. Only real concern is quality of bunkers, with grass and weeds growing in bunkers.
Diverse and technical
Overall well maintained, some challenging holes and greens, large variety of setting.
Only bad point is airport proximity : avoid pick traffic times.
The course is really good condition for late season
Pace of play was perfect. Greens ran very true. The staff was well organized and great to deal with. !
Nice course but not my type
You can't really walk 9 holes here very easily as the 9th hole ends furthest spot away form the clubhouse. Very true out and back type set up. Lots of twists and turns and little streams cutting thru the course. I was spraying the ball off the tee a bit and that didn't help my experience as it was a bit tight.
Fairways aren't too tight but not much rough and room to miss. I blew thru some doglegs just not knowing the distance or where to hit it first time playing.
Tons of bugs, not like bees or horseflies but little fruit flies that I was wiping off my face and shirt like 8 to 12 at a time so kind of annoying. Planes flying right over the course was kind of cool and unique and the clubhouse looks like a cool spot. I'd go try it, for sure not like a stay away it's in a great area close to everyone but I just need to hit 5 iron off the tee all round to keep things in play. Or get better but, that hasn't been working.
Great afternoon
Course is in great shape, greens rolled well and fairways were in great shape.
I really enjoy this course.
Good value
Nice kept course and can’t complain the location.
Although being beside the airport you see a lot of airplane traffic but was expected.
Well maintained and challenging but short.
Overall good experience.
Golf in Toronto
Chose this course on a whim while in Toronto on business. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. The course has character and was generally in pretty good shape. If you’ve never played this course before, try to pair with a group with players who have because there are trouble spots that you cannot see off the tee.
I’m a mid-handicap player and enjoyed the challenge. Overall great experience!
Great course and conditions, impacted by slow play and overzealous marshal
Great track and course conditions, but a slow foursome in front of us, and an overzealous players assistant sorely lacking any customer service focus, tainted what would have been a solid golf experience.
