One of the better public courses
I would give 5 star but I wouldn’t say it’s at that level simple because of price, I guess it’s pricey because of its location to the city and popularity of golf in the gta. I played end of the season and the conditions were fantastic. The guy in the pro shop was mid conversation and didn’t acknowledge me for a moment or so which I consider rude, a simple I will be right with you would suffice. Also the practice area is putting only, the cages are in need of upgrading horrendous condition for a $100+ a round course. Not much space to add a chipping area I understand but to not have a good warm up area brings the rating down considerably when there are courses you can play for $80 that have real warm up areas and ranges.
Overvalued
I can understand that this is the fall but the course is not worth the money. And there was not a single marshall on the track hence it was a frustrating parade. Waiting on every single hole.
So-so course, noisy and overpriced
A friend and I played Royal Woodbine to see if we wanted to join as members next year. We arrived 30 minutes early to allow us to warm up. Despite having booked for 9:40am, the clubhouse told us our tee time was 9:30. We reported to the starter at 9:15 and were told to go immediately to the first tee and tee off with another couple. So very rushed and no time to put or warm up. The course was in reasonable condition, although 3 greens were being sanded and thus virtually unplayable (no discount on the fees though). The course has numerous doglegs left or holes requiring draws. So it plays well for left-handed golfers but not so much for right-handed golfers. The slope in some of the greens is excessive, to the point I would consider them unfair. The course is directly under the flight path of planes landing at Pearson airport, so constant noise and distraction. The course also borders industrial areas and highways - again constant noise. After the round we wanted to get some food and were told the club house was closed and we could only sit outside. The waiting staff were not friendly. While the food was tasty, it was overpriced. Overall, the course is over priced. The location is very convenient if you're in the west GTA, but as a local resident I wouldn't want to play here more than once every 5 years or so. And no, we won't be joining as members next season.
Little pricy but there always are good and bad anyway
A Perfect Layout
A perfect layout in that it punishes bad shots and rewards good shots.
Royal woodbine clearly doesn’t want actual golfers
I have never been so disappointed with a course. I’ve played this course many times over the years, mainly for its convenience and definitely not the value. But my last round was the straw that broke the camels back. I paid $288 for a twosome and when I say the course was bad, I’m being extremely nice. Greens were running at an 8 maybe 8.5. T box’s were aweful, unlevel and looked like they hadn’t had any maintenance this year. The greens were the worst I’ve ever seen them and it was because of the greens is why I complained. When I spoke to the Pro Sean, he actually compared this course to Dentonia or Centennial. It was such a ridiculous comparison that I laughed and had to walk away. For all of you real golfers out there, this course is an absolute rip off and I’d advise you to stay clear. It’s so convenient for me, that one would think I’d play there all the time. I’ve played almost 50 rounds this year and only 2 have been at this garbage course because I’d had very little time and wanted to play some where. I’d give this course a lower rating than 1 star if I could, but unfortunately that wasn’t an option presented to me.
poor conditions shoudl offer a special price
poor ocnditions shoul doffer a discount very poor value
three groups on hole 6
