great fall game
We love the course. Staff was very friendly the course was looking good. You couldn't ask for a better round of fall golf.
Excellent course layout
Pace of play slow, starter and Marshall dropped the ball, as a twosome we were critiqued for playing too fast and made to wait a half hour before starting the back nine.
The course was immaculate
This was my first time playing this course and I can say without doubt that I was very impressed and would not hesitate to recommend this course to golfers of all levels.
Our two-some had an early afternoon tee time (on a Sunday) but were able to start early as tee times didn't pick up until after us.
The starting marshal was friendly and knowledgeable, and provided some helpful guidance to start our round. We later ran into him as we were waiting on another hole, and he provided us with a bit of the history behind the 26 year old (as of 2013) course.
Wait times were very minimal; with cart, we were able to finish our round in just over four hours. Minimal time was spent looking for lost balls, of which there were a couple ;)
In general, the course is wide-open with minimal "ball-losing areas" between each fairway, but errant shots will be penalized. The greens were a bit soft/slow, but very true. Fellow golfers seemed to take great care here to fix any divot marks.
The clubhouse may have been a little dated, but it certainly didn't detract from my opinion of the course layout, staff, and the gorgeous scenery.
I will certainly be playing this course again and I think other golfers will really enjoy playing this gem.
after the almighty dollar with little regard for customer satisfaction
Well, maybe that summary is harsh. My displeasure with the course management is based on two recent experiences (including the most recent) where we were not able to continue playing at the pace we played the first nine because they let slower people (social / nine&dine crowd) off in front of us on #10. This is really unacceptable in my book. Not happy at all about it & was not satisfied with the response I got from the starter or the pro-shop staff.
Other than that it is a beautiful golf course that is well maintained. It's a shame that it is off of my list for future consideration. :-(
Beautiful course.
Beautiful course, interesting holes, feels like you are much further from the city than you are. Excellent practice putting green.
Very good course
Very good golf course i will go back with your service any time.
Great manicured course
All four of us agreed, this is one of the best course in the area. Plus the great deal we got from golf.com made it even better! Absolutely a great day !!
Nice track, real different looks and difficulty from blue tees to the tips.
Friendly staff, well maintained, interesting layout.
Played twice here now, from the blues, then the blacks. Pretty tough from the blacks, 900 yds more than the blues...phew!Every hole has a different look. A deer met me in the parking lot , and wild turkeys on the 3rd hole.
Its near a marshy conservation area to the south and the course has it's own marshlands too.
On a calm day the back nine is buggy, on a breezy day, no issue at all.
Played 2nd day on a 'hot deal'....great value at under $40 riding!
Some nice long par fives.
The course is great to play, lots of dog legs and water. The green are nice, but bumpy due to old divots(people not repairing their divits). Six tee boxes, caused us some confusion. Ask starter which color, was for whom. Some tee boxes gave other almost 100 yds advantage. Bugs are still around but not as bad as July, I have been told.
This is an amazing golf course
I've played all over the valley and Ottawa area this is the best course I've played hands down!!!
Nice course but bugs are bad
really nice course and scenic. Unfortunately the mosquitos are in full affect. Made the round less than enjoyable even with bug spray we were constantly under attack. We were seriously considering walking off.....
The course is in great shape. The insects are savage.
Although I love the course and find it very challenging, I was not happy with the starter. The course is usually not busy on a Tuesday afternoon but when we arrived for out tee-time, there were groups waiting to tee off. As we were a twosome and had to be somewhere by 7:30PM I asked the starter if we could go off of #10, as we could see nobody playing the hole and no one coming up #9. He told us that we had been paired with 2 other players. I asked if we could still go out on #10 but he told us that they had a full tee sheet and he wouldn't be able to work us in when we'd finished the back 9. Judging from what I saw this was total bs. He just didn't want to be bothered. The guys we were paired with were nice but awful golfers. As a result we played a very slow round on a very muggy afternoon with more biting insects than in The African Queen. This could have been avoided if the starter hadn't been such an a-hole.
Good Value for your money
This course is in fine condition. Greens are quick and in great shape, the fairways are well maintained. My only down fall with this course is that you can't have enough bug spray. Very, Very, Very bad for mosquitos, that,s an understatement. If you can play when there not around, you will enjoy your experience.
This course is the full golf experience.
Nothing about this course is disappointing. Fairways are pristine the greens rolling challenging and fast. Course markings are accurate & staff is friendly.
Course in great shape, a little wet (cart path only) bugs were bad
Played from the Gold, little wind requires lots of carry. course will dry out and greens will be very fast
Excellent Course
Excellent course. We played the front 9 in 2 hours but were placed in between a tournament of non-golfers on the back nine - took over three hours. It was painful watching them destroy greens by dragging their feet and hitting greens with their putters. 5 to 10 minute wait on each hole.
The complete package
First off, you arrive to the big yellow cart picking you up and drives you up to check in. Even with a few days of steady rain, the course was playable and in great condition. Greens were running pure and there was still a cart girl working in the rain! It is a course that has interesting looks from the tees, and if it is your first time playing, you might get into some trouble off the tee. As well, the practice facility is top notch, so all in all this course has all aspects covered.
Great course for a great price!
This is one of the best public courses in the city and golfnow has some great rates! I would call it a must play course in Ottawa.
NICE COURSE TO PLAY
there is two greens full of small brown leaves.made it inpossible to putt.one of the par 5 hole flood along the left side.other than,,it is a very nice golf course.
The course is in excellent shape.
One of the best public courses in the region. Greens are in great shape, running true and relatively fast.
