Cardinal Golf Club - East

Got charged $20/golfer per cart and didn't know that the carts were locked to run only on the cart path. We wasted lot of time walking back and forth from the cart in faraway so better walk/use pull cart instead.

I played the east course for the first time and it was a great course layout. They were holes to use all the bag. The staff was very friendly. Good value.

Slow play due to overbooking. Took 5 hrs to play. At some point there 4 foursomes on same par 5 hole. We were told that only 2 holes were cart path only, and it ended up being almost all of them. Very frustrating!

Absolutely terrible golfing experience. I played the East Wing course, and although the course itself is nice, here are my complaints:

1) With four courses on the property, it’s absolutely ridiculous that there isn’t one designated for singles and groups of 2. My friend and I waited for 10 minutes at every tee box, and were completely unable to get into any sort of rythme. The pace was awful, and even after we tee’d off, we still had to wait at least another 5 minutes to take our next shots. Any golfer knows how frustrating this is, yet Cardinal chooses to pack their course and maximize their profits without any consideration for providing even an adequate customer experience.

2) The golf carts - a classic example of where simplicity is preferred. These “high tech” carts beep every second of your round, for the absolute dumbest reasons possible. An ad for their pro shop (as if they don’t make enough money from having golfers tee off 3 minutes apart), covid rules, or whatever else it may be. Also, the cart locks if you drive a little bit off the path, and asks you to go back towards it. Only problem - THE CART IS LOCKED!! You literally can’t move it back upon their request. This makes no sense. And the best part, telling us that we are AN HOUR behind pace and to speed up or a marshal will come and speak to us. Well, we would’ve welcomed a discussion with the marshal to complain about the terrible pace, but we didn’t see one at any time throughout our 18 hole, 5 HOUR golf game.

All in all, the course is really nice. Some of the holes are close together, but you can’t be picky in Toronto for things like that. However, I’ve never played at a worse pace, and seeing other reviews only confirms that this is the norm at Cardinal Golf Club. I can confidently say that I will never go back. I advise anyone looking to play an enjoyable, good paced game of golf to go elsewhere. Or don’t, and spend all that money to sit at the tee boxes for 10 minutes each time.

Cardinal staff offered 9 hole refund for each player, but Golf now unable to provide refund at this moment! a little disappointing stuff like this cant be ironed out quickly and easily!
