Smooth course, except for the rough...
It was my first time playing Fanshawe and I was impressed with the booklet they have to walk you through each hole on the course.
Course was in pretty good shape, and price was excellent (booked through a golf app). Rate of play was a little slow, but wasn't too bad (finished in 4 and change)
No Complaints
Played this course because I got a good deal from Golfnow. If I had to pay full regular price, I probably wouldn't have played it. Other than the price, I think this is a good course , in good shape and a good layout. It's not the best course in the area but it's a good public course that will appeal to many skill levels. Not a championship course, not a beginners course but a really nice course for the average golfer. Because they have two 18 hole courses here, players are well spread out so pace of play is pretty good. greens were in great shape as were the fairways. Even the bunkers were soft and well groomed. Beverage cart was on the course and easy to locate when required. Overall, I would recommend this course and would play it again if I can get a good deal from Golfnow.
Fanshawe never disappoints
Always a joy to play Fanshawe Traditional. Staff and grounds always excellent as what I've come to expect and never disappoints me.
Excellent conditions
This course is very well maintained. Greens are quick and true.
GREAT AND CHALLENGING COURSE
I was playing this course for the first time. I played with my son and fully enjoyed it. However, we were limited in our enjoyment of the round because the hole markers had next to no information. Not even the distance, no indication of direction, etc.
However, the challenge it presented forced the best out of us.
Great course, I will play it again.
Great Round
Challenging but forgiving at the same time. Fun course, I'll be back!
all was good
tee-off was on time , not too busy for a Sunday , greens were good .,the rough ( mostly clover ) was thick . no issues to report .
Great golfing in London, Ontario
Fanshawe Golf Course provides a great day of golfing. The course is in good condition and fun for all.
Plan for a long round
The golf course was in excellent condition considering all the hot days we have had so far in London. The staff was friendly. I have never seen so many groundhogs before. Although they are not a bother to the golfer directly, just be careful of their holes. They are everywhere along the left and right rough…if you happen to be there.
I did have a problem with the pace of play. So much so that my partner and I decided to call it quits after only 13 holes (and 4 hours). It was backed up by at least two groups (threesome with a cart and foursome with a cart) that I could see, plus whoever was in front of them. I even saw one group playing with three carts and five golfers. If we would have chosen to finish the round, it would have taken another 1-2 hours more.
The reason I would not recommend this course to a friend, is that the friends I have that golf, none of them would tolerate a 5+ hour 18 hole round of golf. If you can handle the slow play, it is a nice, fun course.
Dry for season end play
Featured on old pit with great drainage, very friendly staff operating the course.
This couse was in great condition for October golf.
Considering that we are now into fall conditions this course was in excellent condition. The leaves had been blown off the fairways and greens as good as one could expect. The fairways were nicely cut and the greens were in excellent shape and condition for this time of year. Ball wahsers were stiil out on most holes which is nice becasue of the wetter conditions.
Boring
Course has no trouble to avoid, no creeks, no fescue, no ponds. Sand traps have a lot of small stones. Gopher holes everywhere including one I saw in a sand trap..
Very boring.
forgiving fairways
I liked the course as it is forgiving with mildly arrant shots. Greens were in good shape with some speed. Would play again.
Classic Course
Classic old style course, mature trees, few water hazards, generous bunkering, fair test of golf.
