Condition much improved from previous years
First time for a few years to return because of the poor green condition. Now it has improved a lot. Green is challenging but consistent. Fairways are well maintained. Value is acceptable if you can get deals. I wouldn't play this course paying rack rates.
No bull it’s nice
I have been fortunate to play a few nice courses since taking golf on just a few years ago. Most notably the cliffs which is deserving of its number 1 in Canada and over 200 a round. Angus is on the list for top 100 in Canada and is pricey for what it is in my opinion. Though not cheap, the course is beautiful. The pace was lightening fast as it was not at all busy. For equal money however you can play other courses just as nice and have leftover coin for a few pops on the course
Great course but walk it in May.
I understand that this time of year there are soft wet spots on the fairways - so it is cart path only. On EVERY hole! It is enforced by GPS, cart alerts and cut off - also understandable. But the distance from the path to some balls was 70 yards (even in the fairway) or more! Sometimes over fescue. GPS distance to hole was therefore unavailable. Take a push cart, it is a shorter walk. Pace of play slowness was due to back and fourth to/from cart.
Cart path only. Greens slow and patches of brown spots. Spring conditions.
Best course in Canada?
Played here on my Toronto golf trip and wow. With all the recent rain I guess the course was just pure green. The greens where a little slow but just a crazy good course. The range was great and I thought it was cool being a Nike golf course.
The course itself was amazing and what a special back nine. I learned the design passed away before seeing the finished project but man what a Course he designed.
Afterwards we went to grab a steak in the clubhouse which was great and what a cool clubhouse best seen on the par 5 ninth. Overall incredible day and best course in my Canada trip.
Great Layout
It's a tough but fair test of golf. As usual the course was in great condition. It's always a pleasure to play there ... but perhaps they can offer slightly more competitive pricing.
Fun to Play
Had 1st tee time so played very quickly. A really fun layout with every hole different. Course in good condition but a few spots on some greens but did not bother our putting. Excellent elevation changes with a few blind shots. Overall a great day and we enjoyed the course. Would certainly go back and recommend the course.
disappointed
North course is links front 9 very querky a lot of blind shots. Greens very hard to hold any wedge unless your tour pro. Back 9 a lot nicer better views and you could see approach shots much better not as nice as i had hoped for the money eagle nest way better
The Longest Round
It was cart paths only and because this is a mounded links type course, there were very long hilly walks to and from your ball. This coupled with extremely slow groups somewhere ahead of us resulted in a 6 hour round. This is not acceptable.
Enjoyable day
Thoroughly enjoyable round of golf. Great layout and picturesque holes. We played from the white tees, because it seemed liked a good yardage. By the end of the round we figured it would've been great from a set back, and that was all 4 of us, all different skill levels. the only downside to the round was that the greens and fairways had been aerated. which you need to expect playing this time of year, but there was no warning or heads up from the staff at the course, when i booked the round or when we checked in. Would've been nice to have a heads up. Everyone enjoyed the round and all said they would return and play again.
bring your game
this is a big golf course. there are a couple of long, pleasant drives between holes through the forest. I felt that the course was better than my game. the layouts of some holes are lovely, ponds and bends and elevations galore. the greens are subtle and quick. there are scary bunkers and if you go into the "rough", your ball is most likely unfindable. I found it to a real challenge and was worn out after my round, but in a way that makes me want to give it another go, when the price is right, that is. I had a lot of "hot deal" rewards to cash in, which made it a reasonably good deal. it's a beauty of a course. [the carts have tricks, like slowing down if you go past the "carts exit here" signs or go into the rough.]
Worst Field against Value for money
I palyed North course on 5th Sep. Field condition was poor. It's almost ground not grass covered. Even though it came from dried weather this summer, however Angus Glen should took care of it at least. It's not a valuable course any more at least north course under current condition.
North Course in terrible condition
We played the course yesterday and all I can say is that in its current condition it is not worth paying more than $20.00 for the round.
I was extremely disappointed in the tee blocks, fairways and greens.
Seems like have not and are not doing anything to improve the North Course.....but they are charging a pretty penny and if I had paid $125 for the round I would be demanding a refund.
