Enjoyable First Iuting of the year
Played with another single who drove 50+ yards further than me into stiff winds. Course was not busy and we had a very pleasant pace of play. Greens are in pretty good shape for this time of year. Staff as pleasant and helpful as usual. Very enjoyable day!
Wonderful Layout
I have played this course at least 15 times over the years and still really enjoy it. The day we played the wind was very heavy, at least two clubs, and being so early in the season the ball was cold and not carrying well. The late ice storm in April did some damage around some of the greens. Overall the course was in great early season shape. Greens rolled true although not as fast as they will. Great variety of holes.
Jb
Course was very wet. Early spring and reduced rate was in play. Cart path only and understandable considering the course conditions. Greens rolled ok but some had a fair amount of winter kill.
Early season Angus
The course was quite soft in a number of places so thought a little overpriced at $100 given it was early season and fairways / greens not quite up to that price
Cart path only.and green maintenance.
Once the course has determined for cart path only, there should be a note send to the players ahead of tee time and not advise at the spot as I am a senior and don’t expect to walk too much.
Also the greens are still under aeration process and it should be highlighted to players before booking.
An Up and Down Day
It's easy to see how this course would have qualified for the Canadian Open in the past - real gem. However, the tees were great; the fairways were great, except for where the idiot "players" left huge, unrepaired divots and large patches of turf all over; the greens were great, except for the innumerable, unrepaired, deep pitch marks (a dozen and more per green. The only problem with this course is not the course, but the clientele, who obviously couldn't care less about anything.
Disappointed
Was extremely excited to play this course only to be disappointed with the maintenance of the greens and fairways. Greens were patchy and showing mud through the grass. Bunkers not raked and some fairways were patchy as well. Not sure how this was selected as a Canadian Open course. Never again better money spent elsewhere.
So so expected more
Course was good but very disappointed in the greens ,not in very good shape not looked after as well as l thought they should be for a course of this stature
Nice challenging course.
This was a Bucket List course for me and I'm glad I played it. The course was in excellent condition. Each hole provided it's own challenge and some were more forgiving than the others.
Overall, good shots and smart plays were rewarded with birdie opportunities, and the course made me use my whole bag of clubs. This is always a plus for me instead of just your typical Driver-8 Iron holes lined up one after another. If you can control your slice (if you have one), you'll really enjoy this course. Otherwise, there are only a few holes in which you may need a new sleeve of balls for.
hugely overpriced and poorly maintained
for $320 a round once everything was added on (I rented clubs, plus they hit you up for the cart on top of the green fee), you should expect the best, but this course is clearly resting on its laurels as an occasional championship venue. Very badly maintained with huge divets all over the fairways and poorly-kept greens, it's a cheap, nasty and uncared for course. It looks like they make a lot of money from corporate golf - they certainly don't care about individual golfers (we were a threesome), and the staff were pushy and rude, telling us to speed up our play (we weren't slow) only for us to get caught behind several foursomes of hackers who had stopped for lunch ahead of us. The course itself is long but unimpressive, and their club's attitude is all wrong - I won't be back.
Sure glad I didn't pay the rack rate! Angus Glen = not my fave course
Check in with stunning golf shop attendee was seamless; check in with starter not quite so seamless.
Was disappointed by mats-only practice area. (rack rate: $150 plus HST)
Tee off was on time, quickly noticed that threesome ahead were quite slow, no rangers on site. Our threesome took 5 hours to complete the round. ((rack rate: $150 plus HST)
Conditioning of fairways and a few greens were suspect at best. Ball marks, shaggy greens... IMO conditioning should be top notch for the fees they charge at this establishment(rack rate: $150 plus HST) . Sadly I left Angus Glen disappointed,
Great beginning and finishing hole; conditioning will have to improve before I re-visit Angus Glen.
