Granite Ridge Ruby
Nice course and in good condition for early in the season! Disappointed in having to pay 4 booking fees (one for each player) and $48 seems high for a last minute hot deal - especially considering that they only credit my account for ONE round! Golfnow seemed like a better deal last year when the same 4 players would have paid $42 each!
Nice to be back
It was nice to be playing Granite again, after a long cold winter. I played Cobalt and the course was in reasonable condition for this time of year. Some fairways were wet and the course was generally soft but this will improve as the season progresses and they have time to bring the course up to their usual, very acceptable standards. The pace was excellent because it was a weekday early in the season. I play Granite - Ruby or Cobalt - a couple of times a month and it is one of the better courses in the area. It is forgiving enough for beginners and the mix of bunkers and water make it a good course to improve your game.
Fair course early in the season
When you choose to play a course early in the season the conditions will not be ideal but for an early April tee-off the course was actually very good, Love the layout and the ground while muddy was fair. Greens were better than I expected for so soon in the year. Overall the course is lively situated near the escarpment and it turned out to be very enjoyable!
brutal
I showed up early and when I checked in at the pro shop, my buddy already paid a few minutes earlier but the clerk tried to charge me anyway. No apology. Ridiculous. We got out on the course only to find it totally jammed up. Took 3 hours to play 6 holes. No rakes at the traps, holes are narrow. Had to play around someone from two holes over. Paid for 18, quit after 9. Wish my friend had his money back. It was really that bad.
Very playable
This was a friendly course in excellent condition. Fairways were a forgiving and the greens were all reachable. The greens are well laid out and roll true. It's not overly long and punitive which is always nice when you're playing with your spouse and neither have played it before.
Great Location and Easy Access from Hiway 401
Hole #10 is a long par 5 with water hazard and thick bush to your right. Play safe with woods or long iron if you cannot hit more than 220 to carry past the hazards.
Very wet but a nice course
I played the ruby course and was impressed. It was on the cool side and we ran into some rain so had to give up after 13 holes. It was still worth it with the great discount from golf now. Would love to try it again in better weather. My only complaint was the sprinklers. I guess they were draining the system for the fall. Random bursts of air/water continued throughout our round, often soaking us while we putted. Overall they probably made us wetter than the rain did. Even so it was a great couse and I will be back.
Fall colours and Sun
Course was in great shape and weather was perfect scenic Fall colours made for an excellent time....man I love this game!!
Nice Course in good shape
For Mid October golf, the course was in great shape. Cold windy day, so not too many people on the course. Great pro shop help... we showed up early, she put us on Cobalt even though our reservation was for Ruby. We were able to get out right away. Pretty wide open course, not too challenging, but plays great for all skill levels. Was a very enjoyable round, going to try and play again before the end of the season here. Great views with the colors of the season, the escarpment is in view almost every hole.
Granite Ridge - Ruby
AWESOME.........the colours on the Escarpment were just amazing, and the view of the courses was exceptional....would definitely go back.
Granite Ridge Cobalt
A somewhat challenging course with a nice variety of hole layouts. Views of the surrounding scenery were very nice with many fall colours visible. Staff was very accommodating.
Little Gem
In an area of overpriced golf this is a great course to enjoy the game at a reasonable price for golfers of all levels. Very scenic in the fall. We'll be back.
Great October golfing
It was a great day in October on the golf course! The course conditions were great, the pace of play was excellent and the weather was awesome. The greens were on the hard side so were challenging. Overall a great day on the course.
Great day
Course was in good shape, a great course for walkers and beginner/intermediate golfers. Walkers: distance from green to next tee is very short, and the course is very flat. Course is open (few trees, some water) but long enough (6,500 from blue tees) to provide a reasonable challenge for an intermediate golfer.
Great day of golf
Very easy check-in and start. Great value for a course of this level and condition. Pace was very fast as it wasn't crowded.
We'll be back soon.
Course was rammed with hackers
Course is okay. Maybe a little overpriced even with the deals on golf now. Greens are a highlight. The reason why I will not go back has to do with how the course was marshalled the last two times I played. Was playing as a single on a cart. Waited at every hole. Asked to join up with every group I encountered that had room. They all acted like I was ruining there day, so I didn't push the issue. Encountered a foursome that was walking after I had made my way through three previous twosomes after forcing my way through. When I asked if I, a single golfer on a cart could play past their group of four using push carts with no one ahead I was told off. Totally ruined my day. Will never go back. Marshalls were non-existent, and the course is overpriced and filled with hackers who have no etiquette.
regular at the course
We got a great deal to play the Ruby Course. I choose Ruby because I was playing with my wife and it is significantly easier than Cobalt. The front 9 is much easier than the back 9. Hole 1 is a very short par 4 with water in play. Hole 2 is a short dog leg left. The 3rd hole is a par 3 where you need to keep the ball right of the pin. Overall they have made the course easier to play over the years (I have been playing there for 15 years). Most of the ruff has been cut down to speed up tournament play. The views of the escarpment all very good on several holes. the course is always kept in good condition. Food and drinks are on the expensive side compared to the green fees.
Beautiful course - nice layout
This was my first time on the Ruby course. I've played Cobalt a few times. I would definitely come back to play either again. It's a challenging course - forgiving but still a good challenge.
Shooting Gallery
Very short course with a lot of holes running side by side. Greens were slow and bumpy.
Starter should have the power to pair groups into foursomes so that play is better paced. A short course like this should take less than 4 hours to play on any day
Members were cutting in on holes and jumping from hole to hole to avoid public players
