Nice track
Well layed out course very enjoyable to play.
Found the front nine very slow.
Tee time was 330 and could finish 18 holes.
Other than slow play greens were decent and would play it again.
Also enjoyed the shooting range was included with cost.
Will be back again
$95 FOR A ROUND OF GOLF WITH CART IS A LITTLE PRICEY COMPARED TO OTHER COURSES I'VE PLAYED IN THE AREA OF SIMILIAR DIFFICULTY & CONDITIONS!
Trafalgar Golf & Country Club
I knew very little about this course before I played other than I heard it was taken over by Golf North a little while back. It is definitely an older style layout with many holes bordered by old, large trees. Keeping the ball in the fairway (like at most courses) is the key to shooting a good score. Normally I don't say too much negative but we had an experience today that I feel like I need to share. We were approached by one of the Marshall's during play on hole 6 or 7 and told that our group (4 players) was holding up those behind and that he (the Marshall) had been receiving complaints about slow play. Well, when we finished the 9th hole and walked off the green I noted that our front 9 had taken us 1 hour and 57 minutes to complete. I did the same for the back 9 and calculated a total of 4 hours 10 minutes for 18 holes. I know that these are challenging times what with Covid and all but (REALLY) can we ask that those marshalling our courses please apply a little common sense before "warning" players of slow play ? Wouldn't it be appropriate to ask the group what time they teed off and then everyone could look at their watches / phones etc. and determine whether they were on pace or not ? The old system of being able to "keep up" with the group in front may not always apply. What if they are less than a 4 some ? What if they don't count all their putts but prefer to pick them up ? The season is nearing its end in these parts and I'm sure that some who work in the golf course industry are happy to see that. We all should want to play "on pace" and I certainly include myself in that group. I just ask that those responsible for helping that to happen exercise a little better judgement before issuing slow play warnings. By the way, we couldn't play any faster because the group in front of us was JUST in front of us. We shared holes with them for much of the day.
In spite of this story - we had a great day and I met some really great people. That's what I love most about golf !!!
Trafalgar
Course is in good shape and great value on Golfnow.
Pace of play
Pace of play was to slow. Waited at every hole. I had a 4:20 tee off time and could not finish. Didn’t see a Marshall once during the round. On positive note, very nice course. Would have liked to see it all.
Good Course conditions return
As many know Trafalgar was a private course a while back. A fire that burned down the club house and rumours of a club sale caused them to lose many members. I played it last year and you could tell it had been neglected the course was not in good shape. Different story this year! Excellent conditions and it allows the challenge of the design to come out. You have to hit the ball solidly and fairly long here to score well so pick tees that suit your game or you will feel like you are out there forever. Pace of play is very good. Greens are smooth and putt well. Unlike many courses, their driving range is open in covid times and it’s included in your green fee. Great value for the bucks.
Long course, open fairways
Relatively flat and open fairways, long par 3s and par 4s. Can be walked comfortably. Fairway conditions were average (bare patches here and there), greens were faster than average. Plenty of use for the long clubs (for a senior like me).
Not worth the money.
I had never played this course before and was really looking foward to it as it previously was a private club.
The regular rate is $81 plus $17.25 plus tax per person for a cart. We had a Golfnow deal for $64.25 and that was overpriced. The course is badly in need of some maintenance of both fairways and greens. The greens were slow and full of unfixed ball marks and spike marks. The fairways were full of burned out spots or low
muddy areas that need proper drainage. The free range balls was the only good thing. I played many courses in the area that are better conditioned and much, much cheaper. Give this place a miss.
