The Rock Golf Club

About
Located in Minett along the shores of Lake Rosseau, The Rock is a target-style course designed by Nick Faldo. The golf course is laid out over a scenic terrain of rolling hills, granite rock outcroppings, and hardwood trees. Faldo incorporated narrow, tree-lined fairways and sloping greens into the design to create a formidable test for players of all skill levels. At 6,545 yards from the back tees, it may not be particularly long but it is a demanding golf course that requires precision off the tees as well as greenside. The par-4 13th is a particularly challenging hole that requires a long tee shot that has to be played to the right to compensate for the severely sloping fairway that leans to the left and the uphill green is to the right past a large granite formation.

A must play!
Had a fantastic round despite a terrible score! Challenging for a beginner with fast and undulating greens, but the beauty of this gem of a course will leave you in awe! Course was in great condition, hit the range before too which was fun with lots of targets (flags and bunkers). Highly recommend!
Fall 2020
Friendly staff on arrival, easy checkin, guided to 1st tee by starter, course (tee blocks, traps, fairways and greens) in exceptional condition. Very challenging off the tee, and approach shots to green.
After golf COVID friendly patio lunch was delicious
Challenging
This course is hard. Accuracy is at a premium. Bring plenty of balls. Greens are vey fast and undulating. Loved it. Some very picturesque holes. Unfortunately the day I played it. It was very wet. So you ended up hitting it fat lots of times because of the conditions. That added to score quite easily. Would love to try it again with better weather and dryer conditions. A must play for all especially low handicappers.
Handy cup
Gave us handy cap flag but roped off the fair ways so you could not use fhem . Two of could not play all the hole.
Tranquil setting, a true test of shot-making
One could not stop but think how Nick Faldo must have felt priviledged given the task of designing a golf course on this beautiful tract of land meandering over peaks and valleys, dotted with granite shelves and buttes. While the course is challenging in every aspect, there are plenty of tee options to fit a player's handicap. Dispense with the ego and play from the suggested tee box and begin to enjoy the natural features of this fine course.
Electric carts would be a welcome change, as well as GPS. Such a serene setting, the gas motor noise pierces the quiet that exists within the course.
Amazing views
1st time playing here. Have been going to Muskoka for over 30 years. Have played a lot of the big name courses in the area. The Rock is by far one of my favorites now. Will definitely be back. Staff was very helpful and polite. Keep up the good work.
A Gem in Muskoka
The Rock is in great shape and is very playable . Greens were excellent along with the fairways. Staff were very friendly and even had a marshal that was monitoring the pace of play. Would suggest bottled water with carts, as none available on course. ( due to Covid , I would presume) .
Amazing
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It is a longer course than I’m use to so having to use my 6 iron as much as I did was a surprise. I have nothing but great things to say about this course and how they run things!
Beautiful course, very tough
This course is top tier for conditions and views. The pace of play was very good I played as a twosome with my girlfriend and we did not see another person all round it was as if we had the course to ourself. Paid $69 Each for the round which was unreal value for how nice this course is. Each hole is very tight and if you don’t hit the fairway your losing a ball so bring lots of balls. Layout was average the 18th par 5 was strange as I had to layup off the tee leaving no chance to even think about going for in 2
Challenging Course
Beautiful Course and in great shape. Very wet and was cart path only but that was ok.
bad experience with Golfnow
Made a reservation thru Golfnow to play at Stone Mountain Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga on 5/2/20. Paid $106.90 to Golfnow on your website. When we arrived to play on 5/2 the reservation did not show up and I had to pay again. Both charges showed up on my VISA account. VISA will not reverse the charges and I can't find a way to contact Golfnow to try and resolve the issue.
Terrible pace
The course claims extended time of 17 mins between groups. We started on time but as we were hitting our approach on the first hole par 4, another single already hit his tee shots which is well under 10 mins of our start time. We let the single pass up on the next hole #2 par 3, but in that time another single arrived at hole #2. The pace throughout the round is such that another group was always waiting behind us. We (4) finished just under 4 hours and felt this to be a very rushed round overall. The course would have been a lot more enjoyable if they did a better job spacing out groups.
This is a special course
all the tee boxes on the holes are correctly laid out, for instance, on a par 5 hole, your tee shot Is placed in the right position for your second shot, and your third shot to the green is not too far for your ball to stop within reasonable distance from the hole or green depending on how accurate it is.
the course is beautiful, and well looked after.
you feel special while playing and afterwards.
it motivates you to play better.
I've been looking for a course like this for many years.

Challenging course
You need to hit on the fairway most of the time otherwise if your ball hit the rock it will go everywhere. Overall it is a very nice and beautiful course
True Muskoka Course
A wonderful course in great condition that truly represents Muskoka golf. Don’t miss an opportunity to play this challenging course!
Course somewhat difficult for average golfer
This is a beautiful course however, very difficult for an average golfer. Many blind shots, many holes on an angle and course was extremely wet.
