The catch! Photo submitted by GolfGTA on 08/02/2013
Love this place
I just love getting to the top and being away from the city and playing this tight track. Greens need to get rolled and sped up otherwise it’s a nice day to play.
Great course
Always love to play at this course, lots of difficulties which is beauty of golf. ⛳️
This course is fun to play
As a links style golf course that has many elevation changes, the temperature on this course tends to be cooler than elsewhere. In the fall, be sure to dress in layers. Course conditions are always very good.
Great Layout
For a big pile of garbage (expired landfill site), this is a great course. It's not a long course, but it has some challenging holes, with some blind shots, so course knowledge is really helpful. There are hardly any trees, so the wind can really blow here, but today was quite calm. One complaint is that the greens have been aerated but there was no warning about it. Fortunately, the holes made by the aeration were quite small in size. Putts rolled well but they didn't break like I've seen mid-summer. I still had a great round though.
Amazing course
Great rates. Beautiful layout tests all your clubs. Friendly staff especially Mike L
They say it’s tough when it’s windy....
We played on a beautiful sunny day with tons of wind (60 km/hour). It’s a links course, so you want wind.
It made us rethink shots but it was a fantastic round.
This course is in beautiful shape. It’s a visually compelling course.
Pin placements could have been a bit more forgiving given the windy conditions.
There should be a bit more care on sending golfers out. It didn’t affect us, but we saw it, but there was a fivesome in three carts slowing things down. Would not have wanted to have been following them.
Food was basic and no cart.
Incredibly good value for the money.
Not bad, not great
Course was in great condition for later Sept golfing. Very very hilly, walk only if you don’t mind up and down a lot, suggest a cart here. Lots of blind tee shots and second shots into the green, not ideal for the first time playing. Pace of play is always random but I had an average round, teed off later because the two some ahead decided they would play two balls each, that quickly stopped when the marshalls came, never asked the marshall also, so good on his part.
I would play this course again but it’s not my first choice.
Great track that is definitely worth every penny
I had seen this gem of course from the surrounding area (its kinda hard to miss if you're not looking on the city skyline) and I always wanted to play it. The greens were really receptive and smooth and rolling true. The tees and fairways were very nice and were cut at a perfect height. Design layout is very challenging and it tries to bait you into going for a lot of shots that may or not be there. I like playing that kind of course. A course like that doesn't have to be long and this one is definitely one that I would be happy to come back time and again. Just a couple of suggestions though? Driving range could use a better grass teeing area (Or is that on the opposite end of it) and also the absence of divot boxes anywheres on the course was a little disappointing. Overall great value for my money and my game will gladly come back again and again. Keep it up guys! Your course makes fun of a few other courses (that i'm not gonna mention but, they know who they are) within a short driving distance that are regarded to be better and more expensive when in fact they are not in as good shape condition wise as this course is?
Very happy at extremely satisfied overall.
BraeBen Rocks
I love playing at BraeBen it is superbly maintained and a pleasure to play. Fantastic course
A Unique Experience
What a unique property. It was a great day all around, The topography was outstanding, especially given its location in the middle of a major metropolitan area. I definitely plan to be back.
September Round
Being a municipal course I am always surprised by the quality of the playing conditions. Its not in excellent condition but under the circumstances (September round after a very dry August) the conditions are good. Greens were average. Not rolling terribly true but again it’s a municipal course. Paid $79 green fee which I thought was a touch high for September but because I like the course layout it was an enjoyable round. This course is always a good confidence booster for me. Not very long (even from the tips). A decent golfer will have more than a few looks a birdie and even eagle. I find the layout provides both fade and draw tee shots which is a testament to the quality of the design layout (especially since its on a former garbage heap. Staff were friendly. Marshalls stoping to chat and ask about your round. Pace of play was good even with 4-5 groups ahead of us.
Far Too Slow
Great staff, fun layout, well conditioned. Terrible pace of play - bailed after 9 holes when faced with 2 foursomes on the 10th tee waiting for a group 150 yards out. I've played here about 6 or 7 times but now doubt I'd go back - life is too short.
