Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Good course but not amazing
Course was pretty tough and in decent condition. Would have expected the fairways to be more pristine for this price
I just thought the layout of some of the holes on the course were ridiculous....a lot of totally blind shots. Speed of play was extremely slow...easily a 5+ hour round with no rangers pushing play, and the layout contributing to slow play.
A monster to conquer
Truly great experience to test my game against such a challenging monster of a course. After playing at the Legends course and not loosing my ball the entire round itself was an achievement. I felt my game improved that day as I was forced to keep the ball in a tight line. Now playing courses with less degree of difficulty seems a walk in the park. A real transformative experience for any serious golfer who wants to improve.
Lion's Head
There was more than usual ball marks on the green. I would fix 4 or more on every hole. It would be nice if players fixed their ball marks.
Awful
Marshall came and complained about pace of play on HOLE 2, meanwhile we had to wait on the tee deck for the group in front of us, WE COULDNT HIT ANYWHERE. We were playing on pace. He told us to let the group behind us to go through to not ruin our round. Even if they played through, they would have to skip the group in front of us which we told him. He started getting his voice up and then so did we. After home 2 I told him to come and wait on hole 3 with us on the tee deck because we couldn’t even hit and he drives away.
So… the group behind us had to play through both groups and skip 2 holes. AGAIN, WE WERE WAITING FOR THE GROUP IN FRONT OF US, so not sure what he was talking about getting vocal with us.
He then comes to us on hole 5 and says we’re good to hit even though we told him no they’re to close. He was insisting we hit so we did and I told him he has to go say sorry once we hit right into them. Sure enough, we tee off and hit 3ft right beside them. THEY PICKED UP THE BALL. Sure enough, marshal drives off without saying nothing to us or them. So then we had to say sorry and tell them the Marshal told us to hit. Lucky they were understanding and friendly.
Then at the halfway house he asks if we would like to play through the group in front of us like he was doing us a favour after everything. We were fine waiting 1-2 min on the tee deck and the group in front of us were very friendly when we spoke to them.
For $180 and a “elite” course, that Marshall made the experience terrible and ruined the round for everyone. Just remember, the first time he came around WAS HOLE 2 and got vocal with us even though he could CLEARLY see we couldn’t go anywhere
Fun experience
Used my GolfNow points on the round for my dad and I and I was not disappointed, we had a great day!
Worth it.
Was a beautiful course. Great shape all the way around. Staff was friendly. It was tough of course. Would play again.
Fantastic Experience!
Course was super challenging and in great shape! Grabbing a 'Hot Deal' from Golf Now made it even sweeter!
Excellent course and very challenging
Loved the course and the layout. It was in excellent condition.
The course is walking only, which was not made clear beforehand. Excellent pace. For first timers differently play with another who has played and enjoy the par 3 13th
Tough track and I like a challenge
Was my first time there last summer not sure witch 18 we played i would think it was Masters very well kept friendly staff organized but for an average golfer who started in his mid 20s and shoots anywhere from mid 80s to 90s and don't practice just to much coarse for me almost every 2nd shot a blind carry and sometimes would have to get 2nd shot closer before I could take blind shot this ment if super lucky on in 3 and than too par you need to one putt anyway beautiful place maybe the legends an easier track but if your not a great golfer might not be the right place for you
Ridiculous layout and club rules
6 out of 18 holes don't allow you to hit driver (due to a hazard), yet leave 200+ yard approach shots into the greens into par 4's. Not a player friendly course at all, and poorly designed...to the point that even the holes are tough to follow in order and seemed scattered all over the property.
Club rules: No golf cats in the parking lot? Really? Walked up to get my cart, was told I couldn't take it to load my clubs from my car. Walked back to my car, walked back with my clubs. Loaded the cart and headed over to the driving range. Within 5 minutes, an employee asked if that was my cart. Yes..."sorry, but no carts allowed by the driving range." Are you kidding me?? So you expect me to park my cart by the clubhouse and carry my clubs over after having had to carry my clubs from my car?? Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary rules. For the $355 tax in I paid for 2 players, this is the worst value for money I have ever encountered at a golf facility. I would never, never play this course again, and warn others to stay away. Save your money and your patience.
Cart path
The whole course was cart path only for that day. That was the only thing. Everything else was beauty.
