The catch! Photo submitted by GolfGTA on 08/02/2013
Good course for beginners
I found Braeburn to be a picturesque but short golf course. I usually play the whites or blues at most course but if you do so I recommend playing from the tips at Braeburn. From the whites most of the par 4's are only 300 and the par 5's 430.
The pace of play wasn't great as it took just over 4 1/2 hours. For such a short course it could be done much faster but I think it is a very good course for new golfers so that pace probably makes sense. Just don't come looking for a high-end course.
Just OK
Played Brae Ben because it is close. Fairways in decents shape although very inconsistent on drainage. Some fairway much soggier than other.
Greens although decent shape, not many will not your ball. In addition ball marks and other light damage make putting challenging..
I would rate as an average course.
Impressive for the heart of Mississauga
Very interesting use of u useable land! Convenient and makes you think.
Challenging course
Ony one hole with a water feature, feature, the sand traps placements and sod bunkers will make you think your club selection ans shot placement. Not a lot of shade, so have sunscreen handy. The wind plays into factor considerably. Also not a course you want to walk, unless you run IronMans regularly.
The Mound in Mississauga.
This golf course is fun. Wide open, well kept, lots of elevation changes, lots of mounding, and interesting greens.
Marshall doesn't care about anything.
course condition is overall pretty good. pace of play is bad. at one point there re 4 groups on the same hole from tee to green. tried to talk to the marshal who cruises around in his cart in his own zone, but he doesn't seem to care and simply replied "it'll open up later". i'm like "what do you mean? i see 4 groups on one hole. go do something. " my guess is he cares nothing but his free golf. unfortunately i had 2 first timers with me in the group. they will not likely return given the marshal's don't-care attitude.
Rained out
This was my second rained out day. Both times the staff were great and happily gave me rain cheque.
I have played Breaben several times and introduced friends to it. The course has always been in excellent condition no matter what the weather conditions are like. Challenging but rewarding.
Strongly recommend.
Excellent condition
Very well maintained. The course is in excellent condition.
360* view of the city.
I will come back...
Nice setup
There is fescue and at times narrow fairways. There is a couple of blind shots that can be annoying for the first time player...overall nice shape just a bit short for the good players.
Good game
Good day
Pace started off slow. Passed a group and then it was open
Girls at the beverage counter and beer cart were amazing!
Was Impressed
This was my very first round at Braeben and have decided that this course will be most of my Monday plays. The course is very interesting and well laid out, with some challenging holes and a good length. I played with a few regulars who helped with each hole and more in particular the blind shots.
We happened to be the first group off in the morning which also helped as we were able to drive the cart forward to view the holes prior to the shot.
It was a moderate windy day and only on a few holes did the wind really effect the shots. The view is spectacular from perched above Mississauga.
Overall a hidden gem within 30 minutes from home offering a great course, very nice and helpful staff.
Windy conditions!
Great course for the money! It was great to play with a few locals because there was a few blind tee shots to navigate. The greens are big so accuracy is important for your approach or you're three putting. Pot bunkers in the middle of some fairways made it a little challenging off the tee. if you live in the city this is a must try!
Very good
This course got a lot of challenge and very challenge greens
I like it
Senior now so we played the whites which was no picnic on a few holes into the wind, but overall a very pleasant golf experience .
Unexpected quality in the middle of Mississauga
I haven't played this course for about a decade or so, but went back and left impressed by the whole experience. Was rather windy, but i'm sure there are winds on most days since the whole course is perched way up there!...but was exceptionally windy when we played and that made the often narrow course quite challenging. Shot of the day goes to RADO who knocked one to 6 feet on the beautiful par 3 7th! Might be the signature hole on the course - what a view! Speaking of views, you can see half the GTA in every direction, but mostly just rooftops LOL
One of my very few regretted rounds
I'm not usually one to write reviews, but braeben was EASILY my least favourite round of the year. Not even because of a poor score, but rather just so many faults by the course itself. To start, I was aware of the blind holes, but when the score card distance doesn't match the tee box sign, you start to feel unsure. And then when I asked for a course map book in preparation for the a dozen blind holes, they said they didn't have one this year. Lovely.
I went down to the range to take advantage of the included small bucket in the $48 green fee, just to walk into a group of 6 or 7 total amateurs taking up half the range, partying it up in street clothes louder then a parade of starting shotguns. Isn't this supposed to be a $60-$70 course? I tried to forget about it and just get some touches in, but when you can't even see your ball land or know what distance the markers are at, I decided to wrap it and just head to the first tee
1/8 of the bunkers were totally out of play (rock hard under construction), and the greens felt almost unreadable and slow. Not to mention a couple holes had patches of the green that were like a rippled bumpy carpet, forcing you to simply move your ball off that region.
Again, I tried to forget about it, still enjoy the round, and grab a beer from the cart girl - oh wait. There wasn't one. From 2 til 6:30 pm.
I read that there was some nice scenery being so elevated, but I felt that it was just an odd, poor atmosphere. Hearing and seeing all the road traffic and the tops of small residential houses, just reminded that the course was literally built on an old garbage dump.
Thankfully you live and learn. I use golf now religiously and have never regretted a round so much. Should of taken note it wasn't going to be a good day when the starting Marshall wouldn't answer your simple "how are you" questions and then cut off your conversation to your playing partner. First and last time you'll see me pay ANYTHING to play this course.
Challenging course
This was my first time playing here and it wont be my last... my only complaint is there was no hole layout at each tee box and the map on the back of the score card wasnt much help. I was hitting blind on some holes as I couldn't tell where the green was. Other then that it was a great course and very well maintained.
Nice course
It's a nice course. Only issue is a lot of players seem to chew up the course and not repair ball marks on the greens. For the condition the course is being left in it is a bit overpriced. For $100 there are better options, but with a good price from golfnow.com it's a good value
We played on 1 SEP 2017(Friday), pace was very slow. Worst is Marshall "Jorge" asked golfer behind us to hit driver while we are still at fairway. Ball land 8 yeards in front of us. Jorge said that's only way to speed up the game!!!
NO NEVER PLAY IN THIS COURSE AGAIN!
tight course
Great condition greens a little rough.
It is windy, even when you might think the wind won't be factor before teeing off. Overall great course, a little short but several the options available. We played a 4hr round so pace wasn't a problem. I would play here again.
Great course layout
Excellent golf course. Challenges your abilities. Very well maintained. Courteous and helpful staff! Had a wonderful time!
